Practice is just what most people need. I beat mission 11 quite easily when switching from the Chinese version to the US, and I never passed it on the chinese one. The roundabout is a key section and the rest is just repetative 90 degree turns, you just need to find which ones need high and low amounts of thottle.

Rockhound -- WOW! .. I've nuked nearly 1s off my first section at around 49.6 .. I went into section #3 at 1'31.9 .. Definately need to work on my 2nd section, as I'm losing the most time there. It was roughly 1.5s slower than the minimum time you recommended.

As for taking credit on the time trial tuning, that was in this thread, I was just regurgitating the information

3 friggin hours and i still can't do it?!!? WTF !?!?

what a friggin waste of time.

i'm doing everything you ppl have described, and NOTHING!? FACK.

Note that I say you "can" hit the 1:29-1:31 or so... but 1:32.5 are still great bc your still ahead of schedule (based on the original Samberto times)... basically when I hit the occasional 1:29 and everything goes well you can win by 3 secs or more.

Keep working on these sections, I'll soon have completed up through the karussel/the rest of the track.

However my sister is coming to visit me at college this weekend so I prolly wont make any additions until Sunday night.

Rob - Don't knock it till you've tried it... :D

Don't worry, I tried for days and I wasn't able to do it. Just now I did it.
I passed misson 23, 2 times. The first time I had 1.8 sec to spare and the second time almost 3 seconds.

Thanks to all the tips and tricks I got from you guys and especially, thanks to the real 6c who has send me a message, explaining how to beat mission 23

Thank you all :)

Being thrashed by a 17 year old girl.

MSPs pay hundreds for that kind of experience.

If your talking about the mission hall Famine I already have tried most of them and I can't get past mission 9 aka the Avantime one which is annoying 'cause I want that Delorean :(

Famine
Want a video?

Not sure about him but I know I do! (LOL!)
I've tried all the tips/tricks posted so far in this thread and I just can't get any closer to that lead car then say 3-4 seconds! Ahh..I tell you it's so frustrating!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is the one reason why I wish GT4 had those 'replay's like in GT3..so I can 'see' what I need to do...(I learn better by 'seeing' as opposed to 'reading'...always have and probably always will!)

Thx-

I only got done with missions 1-10. I havent tried any of the others. Are they hard?

I know the cuple of missions where you win the Nissan R92CP isnt going to be easy.

Anybody have tips on the Seattle mission? I have completed all driving missions but the Seattle and Nürburgring missions. The Nürburgring one, I will worry about later, but if someone could help me out with Seattle, thatd be great 👍

brake early!!!!!!

coast throught the corner and get on the gas just after apex or even before it. You can take a few corners faster than you think as the road is soo wide.

be very smooth and oh so gentle with weight shifting, asm and tcs kill any sorta power oversteer, so understeer is all you get when you mash the throttle.

...dear god! i did alot of the 20-29 missions EASY.. teen ones are a LOT harder than the rest.. makes no sense

then again.. i was also able to go back and do the infinion one extremely easily... lol i owned that bently by over 5 seconds

spent 1hour doing 30-33 (lol) i didnt even notice the stupid 34. i attemted it, waited 2mins (wtf is that. pd honestly doesnt like us gamers lol) then did the lap and fialed horibly, i didnt like the feel of the car and it understeered horibly (then agian i was drving the heck outa it lol)
as for the ford one, that was a sinch ferst try.

First short cut: instead of following the winding road, stay on the pavement and then when it bends to the left, stay to the right in the grass (right next to the right side wall). As you approach the left turn ahead, downshift to 2nd, brake, turn hard, and you should be able to slide right through the turn without running off the track on exit.

2nd short cut: Instead of following the course through this set of S's just take the grass through the middle in 2nd. When the course bends back and heads to the right, just make sure that you have your car as line up as possible when you re-enter the track to minimize the amount that you slide. Shortly after you renter the course, youll need to shift to third.

id thought id add a couple more "short cuts" to help people trying to do this mission. even with all the short cuts, you really need to be a skilled driver and have luck on you side to complete this mission 34.

3rd short cut
now, its tuff to say how good this one is, since you might be able to get a similar time without using it, but it works for me. this one occurs just before the first short cut mentioned above. its the slight left then a longer right. when you are approaching the first corner, gun it a little longer than you normally would, then break hard and drop it down to 2nd, then turn hard right across the grass. if done properly, itll line you up good for the next shortcut(first short cut)

4th short cut
this one can drop maybe close to a second of your time. it is at the carousel. instead of braking, line the car up with the outer wall, and just gun it around. just dont go slamming the car head on into the wall, just ease it in. it saves braking alot earlier, and you should get out quicker as well

hopefully some of you can add to this list

I to would love a video, I tried for about an hour this afternoon and the closest I got was 2.5 seconds behind in the last corner. I'm gonna go try again to see if anything has helped.

I actually did most of those shortcuts mentioned, and not by reading about them either... just from a weeks worth of trial and error I found out that I could be faster in certain sections through the grass. :indiff:

Here is the second part of the extensive mission 34 guide:

4th split section :
This section isn't very tough, however it took me ages to find out why I was losing time here... the solution was very simple... and you can only run this section well in MT

As you approach the left hander at the end of the short straight (in 3rd gear), brake slightly, then take the turn.

Here is the first part that I was losing lots of time on. When you get to the next left hander, you need to brake before you get to the turn. Downshift to 2nd and brake prior to entry, then hug the inside of the left hander and you should be able to accelerate through it and drift out to the left on exit when it moves back to the right.

Shift to 3rd on the short straight, then do the downshift to 2nd and brake trick for the next right hand turn, accelerate after the appex and speed away and shift into 3rd.

The next S curve requires a slight brake prior to entry, but its nothing to difficult to figure out. Continue passed this to the series of three left handers. Brake pretty hard for the first one... youll feel like your slowing down more than you need to... but if you do it right youll be able to run the next two at nearly full to full throttle.

Continue through this area until you reach the short right then sharp left section. This section costs LOTS of lost time in AT... the MT procedure literally saves at least 1 full second. As you enter the slight right, downshift to second and full brake, then downshift to first and go full throttle around the sharp bend to the left. The road then curves back right and you upshift to 2nd then 3rd etc.

This is the end of the 4th split section. At this point you should have a split time of about 1:17.8xx-1:19.5xx. If you are running well youll be in the 1:18's. If you are running amazingly well, you might crack into 1:17 land, but dont expect to see this happen... only happened once for me.

5th split section
This is another easy section. Continue to accelerate and gain speed until you reach you left hander ahead. Downshift into 2nd and brake, take this turn, and you should drift out to the right side of the course.

Continue through the dip ahead and get to the left side of the road as you approach the right hand turn. Resist the urge to shift to 3rd. If you stay in 2nd, you can brake very quickly before taking the right, and then go full throttle, maximizing exit speed for the next long straight section.

Continue to gain speed through the straight section of the course and upshift. When you reach the right hander at the end of the fast section. Downshift to 3rd and brake, then downshift to 2nd, speed through the righthand exit, upshift when necessary, adn continue to pick up speed.

This is the end of the 5th split section. You should now be about 1:05.000-1:06.500 secs behind. Anything below 1:07 and you still ok.

6th split section + pass of 5th place car:
Just drive through most of the first part. Theres one section where the brake indicator flashes 4 on a right turn but you dont need to slow down at all.

Oh yeah... if you didnt notice... that thing up ahead... yeah thats the 5th place car! So yes, you can pass it before the karussel, LOL.

However the next left hander requires some attention. Shift into 3rd and brake hard, and you should then be able to go full throttle through the turn.

You hit the split now and should be somewhere around 1:55. Don't worry about that though, because youre about 2 turns away from actually knowing if youre actually doing well.

Continue up the hill, then next right hander is worth braking a little bit for, but not too much bc its not needed. Continue ahead and you should be quickly approaching car #5. When you get the the long right prior to the karussel, downshift to 2nd and brake hard, then feather the accelerator until you can go full out through the rest of the turn.

If you ran very well, your all over the #5 car in this turn. WHATEVER you do, dont bump him from behind. Any contact, no matter how slight, is an instant 5s penalty and the end of you hopes. (this holds true when approaching any car).

Pass him cleanly on the turn or straight, preferably on the right. Then when you get to the karussel, downshift to second and slow down a little and then ride the outside wall. Upon exit, you should see the #5... i mean #6 car :) slowing falling behind in the rear view mirror! 👍

This is the end of part 2. If you've gotten this far, chances are youre in very good shape, even without my help. However, I will finish this guide, prolly in 1 more section, tomorrow afternoon/night.

Once again, I hope this helps, and continue to reach for the stars on mission 34! If this helps one person pass this mission, i will be fully satisfied! Good luck everyone.

PS see part one on p 20 off this thread.
once they are all done I will compile it into 1 message and post it here, and maybe the mods will pin it or something and make it its own topic, or ill post it in write-ups or something. If you have advice on how to make this a better guide, or a way to make it more noticeable/accessible, let me know.

Anybody have tips on the Seattle mission? I have completed all driving missions but the Seattle and Nürburgring missions. The Nürburgring one, I will worry about later, but if someone could help me out with Seattle, thatd be great 👍

basically you just have to rake really early, which keeps you from sliding. I put more advice on this earlier in this thread, so youll prolly be able to find it if you sift through all this for a couple mins.

I consider this one of the 3 hardest missions to complete, so dont be dicouraged, it is difficult, but possible.

After several hours of punching my PS2 in the face for being ridiculous, I finally found the solution to mission #23 and I can express it in words.

Let the AI cars pass you ONCE AND ONLY ONCE per straight per lap. This take the first turn on the first lap, PASS the cars (but don't get so far ahead that they can't draft you after the turn), then let them draft you and pass you. Enter the next turn and get ahead of the AI cars coming out of it. Be far ahead of them coming out of the next turn so they can draft you and pass you ONCE on this lap.

Lather, rinse, repeat until you're done.

>>>> The key is to let them pass you ONCE AND ONLY ONCE per straight per lap. <<<<

Now on to beating this asenine mission 34. Stupid SL600, could that suspension be ANY SOFTER?? ARGH!

Hey if you beat mission 34 or any others, be sure to write up a helpful FAQ in the Write ups. We need more Write ups on the Mission Hall. 👍

for mission 34, the key to success is precision. On my first try ~5seconds off the lead, my driving style was PUSH PUSH PUSH, going to the limits of understeer... this didn't help and i spent the next few hours trying to understand why i wasn't gaining anytime...

after going back, tried changing my driving technique... much calmer, brake earlier hit the apexs more precisely, stayed away from powering away at turns trying to get the front end to bite for grip...

u have to be able to drive the SLR without inducing understeer and powering your way through the corners , i personally felt it was a slow lap because of the less work i was doing but it paid off and was able to beat the 1st placed car convincingly...

so my advice is... learn to drive the SLR without making it understeer!

I just started a thread about FAQ and explanations concerning mission hall and even a way to get gold, silver or bronze on the licence test. Hopefully this thread will be approved. If not, here is my explanation how I managed to beat mission 23 at last.

I must be the worst GT4 driver, ever existed. It took me several days, a couple of hours a day to finaly beat mission 23. If I can, everybody can!!!

Start!!! Draft the first 4 cars, approching the first turn, pass the AI cars in the first turn on the inside at 282 km/h, 176 mph. After passing them, move to the outside of the track and stay on the outside “yellow line”. After passing the AI cars, ease of the throttle a little bit and slow down, in order not to get a too big of a lead. I came out of the first corner at 266 km/h, 166 mph. Slowed down to 264 km/h, 165 mph, to stay in front of the AI cars and still drive fast enough to catch the leader (very slowly at that point, because the leader drives at 260 km/h, 162 mph on the straight). Keep watching the AI cars in your rear view mirror. The first AI car starts to draft you and I went behind this car immediatly. You will see in your rear view mirror that a second AI car is catching you and the AI car you are drafting, driving even faster and passing me and the AI car. I then immedialty started to draft that even faster car, increasing my speed up to 284 km/h, 177 mph.

At this point I was approching turn 2, going on the straight ( with the finish line). Again passing the leading AI car (the one I was drafting, not the yellow GT-R you need to catch) on the inside moving up, after passing the AI cars, onto outside yellow line. Again easing of the throttle to give the AI cars to stay behind me, so they can draft me on the next straight. I droppend, this time, my speed to 260 km/h, 162 mph for a few seconds, because I was pulling away from them. When I saw in my rear view mirror that they where just behind my, I increased my speed up to 264 mk/h, 165 mph (which is the max. speed I could squeeze out of my car without drafting, after decelerating to 260 km/h, 162 mph). Again the first AI car behind me started to draft me and passed me, pulling me behind him. The second AI car, who was drafting me and the first AI cars started to overtake us once again and I slipped behind this AI car again (just like I did on the previous straight), giving me the change to accelerate up to 282 km/h, 176 mhp. Repeat this untill You see the yellow GT-R you need to overtake to win mission 23.

If you are close enough behind the yellow GT-R, but not able to draft him, pass the other AI cars, at the end of the traight, in the second last turn of lap 3, at full speed and don’t drop your speed and go to the inside of the track immediatly (covering less track distance). Come out of this turn and move behind the yellow GT-R, starting to draft him and pass him at 282 km/h, 176 mph. Stay on the inside, don’t give him the change to draft you!!!!!!!!!!!.

If you can’t draft the yellow GT-R,(you’ll have to decide if you are close enough to draft him or not on the next straight following the turn you’re on at that moment), do exactly what you’ve been doing the previous turns and let them (other AI cars) draft you once again, pass them full throttle on the last turn of lap 3, go to the inside and draft the yellow GT-R, just before the finish line and pass him.

The second time I tried and passed (with almost 3 sec to spare), I let the second AI car (the one that was drafting me and the AI car I was drafting, bump into me launching me at an even higher speed. But this is a kind of cheating. I did it fair and square and passed the leading yellow GT-R AI car with 1.8 seconds to spare

Good luck to you all and thanks to all the tricks and tips and to the real 6c, who has send me a privat message on this mather.
My first language in not English, so hopefully you all understand what I tried to explain.

mission 34 is easy, turn the sound up so you can hear the wind.. be quick out of the way between sound and watching the change in your speedo slipstreaming is easy
the advice in this thread is great, i did it first time, was kicking so much ass i passed the yellow gtr before the last corner
