Official Playstation Store Thread

PES2009 is MUCH better than 08. đź‘Ť The only thing I don't like is the consolidation of trick controls. I'm too used to Winning Eleven 9 and will have to adjust, I guess.

Don't bother with the Iron Man theme, they made the XMB buttons into scenes of different pictures from the movie.. :indiff:

Another epic U.S. PSN Update. Thats twp weeks in a row, more content in two weeks than the first two months of it original release.

Agreed, it's been a good couple weeks for sure đź‘Ť

EDIT: after playing bioshock for the first time (the demo that is) I really REALLY want it!

Linger in Shadows is up on the store for $2.99. Who's taking the plunge?

Ever since I first heard about it I knew I had to get it. However, it won't appeal to everyone and it is... strange, to say the least. And to my surprise it has trophy support.

That Super-Acrobatic whatever whatever Cars game is pretty fun. A blatant ripoff of the Carball mod from UT 2004, but still pretty fun. $15 for it though? Blegh.

Googley Moogely that was a lot.

By the way, if anyone pays for a premium theme I will point and laugh. A few of our own resident members have shown the ability to do an equally good job with the free user created ones, and I am sure that some of these will have user-created duplicates floating around on the Interwebs. If you want to waste spend money on something pretty get Linger in Shadows. It will be much prettier.

We must be getting a very weak November December update for the store, this is nuts with October's content.... plus end of September wow. time to upgrade me puny 60GB HDD.

There will be a lot of content in December, I know that. Don't know about November, but I don't really care, since R2 is coming out Nov 4th, PSN will pretty much not matter to me.

October is hurting my wallet. I have LBP pre-ordered, I want Bioshock, definitely want to at least check out Dead Space, going to get Rock Band 2, and I just got Civilization Revolutions in from Gamefly. Because of the LBP Beta I haven't popped Civ Rev in yet, so I can't determine if I want to Keep It or not. If I do I may have to weigh the value against sending it back in and getting it later.

Looks like it is time to bump all the crappy games that I am just looking to test drive back to the top so that I can break away from my currently owned games long enough to see that they are just as bad as others have said (I'm looking at you nearly every Wii game I have rented in the last year).

Add to that the Rock Band DLC: I want the Red Hot Chili Peppers album, the Offspring pack, and I may even consider Bad to the Bone.

And I want Linger in Shadows, and depending on the demo, <finger exercises> Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars.

Oh, and I still need to buy Iron Man on Blu-Ray.

Yep, I'm broke. Christmas cannot come fast enough, and PSN cards now being in places that people actually shop will make great stocking stuffers....for me.

Oh, and I STILL haven't gotten any of the Lego games yet.

I have Bad to the Bone, its dull up until the solo on guitar but it seems worth it.

I love Two Weeks by All That Remains. I was hoping one of the songs would be as hard as Six.

I'm getting the PSP-3000 pending custom firmware ability. So I'm holding on to my spare cash. And not getting anything else for a while after my Rockband spending spree thursday.

PSP-3000 will be a bit more difficult to crack.

Though, I don't really support / advocate custom firmware, since it is a direct result of piracy, and I hate piracy.

Bad to the Bone is well worth it just to play THAT riff. Great to sing too.

For a challenge for the singers out there, definitely have a look at All Right Now, its ranked as one of the hardest songs in the game, and for good reason!

I avoided the RCHP album because, 1. I'm not a huge fan and 2. One of the songs is so badly censored its been ruined (though I didn't really like the song in first place anyway, the only songs I was considering were Suck my Kiss and Under the Bridge and neither seemed worth it).

I'm now thinking of buying the entire Motley Crue album next week.....I don't normally like them, but it does sound like a really fun album and Kickstart My Heart is definitely worth it just for the Gran Turismo 3 memories, lol.

It does have the added benefit of keeping the console makers on their toes and constantly updating their systems with interesting add-ons.

Also, sometimes piracy is necessary, because in the case of playing classic PS1 games on the PSP, Sony is being way too slow at bringing them out (not to mention bringing out several that seemingly not many people care for, such as Motorhead).

I don't pirate psp games/ I own probably 20 of them. I just want to play classic emulators and home brew, not Sony games. I dont own an Iphone or a smart phone and sometimes all I have a is my psp. Also PSone classics. I rip my own games to play them. I have a few PSone games. The PSP-3000 screen is very attractive compared to my "launch" PSP phat. Its scratchy screen and inner screen dust is annoying :)

Actually, piracy is pretty much the reason that there aren't many PSOne games. The already small returns on putting PSOne games on the PS Store are pretty much negated with custom firmware that allows ripped PSOne games to be played.

Just saying, the negatives that have come of custom firmware on PSP far outweigh the benefits that have come of it.

Edit: Btw Labounti, I wasn't trying to suggest you pirate PSP games, just saying that the custom firmware is pretty much the #1 reason that the PSP doesn't have many great games being published for it.

I agree that custom firmware isn't very beneficial at all, but I don't agree that its the reason we haven't seen many PS1 games released, especially because we know several games have been finished (as in, finished porting to the PSN) and are owned by Sony but haven't been released yet, it wouldn't cost them anything to put them up.

There aren't that many, only a small handful that have been rated by the ESRB:

► Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
► Castlevania Chronicles
► Pandemonium
► Suikoden
► Super Buster Brothers Collection
► Wipeout XL

On top of that, it costs Sony server space to put up these games around the NA territories, space they can use for new titles that will most certainly sell better. On top of that there are bandwidth costs, etc.

While it may not seem like it costs them anything on the surface, it does, and it's more than likely not worth the time right now. The absolute largest contributing factor to this is custom firmware on PSP's that allows one to use PSOne ISO's.

The reason I read somewhere was the difficulty re licensing music and other in game content, and the return in sales might not be profitable. Thats why i would assume its easier for the japan market. I dunno.

Tony Hawk 2 would be awesome to have on the go but the psp versions are way better anyway so i guess it doesn't matter.

Actually, there are way more games than that (and better) but I'm referring to SCEE, not SCEA.
PEGI (Pan European Game Information) has classified all of these for the PSN store:
01. Bust a Groove
02. Crash Bandicoot 3
03. Colony Wars
04. Cool Boarders 2
05. Cool boarders 3
06. Destruction Derby 2
07. Devil Dice
08. Everybody's Golf
09. Klonoa
10. Kurushi Final
11. Motor Toon Grand Prix
12. Namco Museum
13. Namco Museum 2
14. Namco Museum 4
15. Omega Boost
16. Ridge Racer
17. Ridge Racer Type 4
18. Rollcage
19. Spyro: Year of the Dragon
20. Tekken 2
21. Tekken 3
22. Twisted Metal
23. Vib Ribbon
24. Wip3out
25. WipeOut 2097

I want almost all of these..but where are they? Ok, so it costs Sony server space, they do get money back from downloads, because I am fairly sure a lot of people still prefer buying reliable emulations from the PSN store over the custom firmware emulations. I know I do.

Then why go through the pains of getting the games classified?
