Yay! after getting the game on the 27th of December, it's taken me until now to finally beat the Pokemon League. Longer than expected, but definitely a more enjoyable journey than the previous games.

Apart from the post-story missions, all I need to do now is setup a wireless internet connection so I can play against all those crazy Asians.

*Cough* i take great offence to that phrase "Crazy Asians" unless it refers to the fact that asians are "Crazy Cool" have "Crazy Mad Skills" or are sexy beyond belief *Cough*

good job how are those crazy asians doing anyways?

So it took you a week? That's not very long. I started playing mine on the 30th and i just got to the Pokemon league, but i haven't raised my pokemon enough. The last gym was easy with Torterra and Graveller :(

You'd be pleased to know that when I say 'crazy Asians', I mean 'Asians with crazy skillz'...

Ahh, so you selected the grass-type Turtwig as your starter pokemon. Since i'm playing Pokemon Pearl, I chose Chimchar as my starter Pokemon for it was the most fitting. Likewise, Diamond calls for a Piplup (much like Pokemon Red was likened to Charmander and Blue Squirtle).

The advantageous quality of Infernape is that it's a natural 'sweeper' Pokemon, meaning that although it lacks defence, it's
terriffic all-around attack stats coupled with high-power moves makes it a deadly weapon in battle.

What level are Graveller and Torterra at roughly? I mainly used a level 60 Infernape for the majority of the Elite Four, with attacks like Close Combat dealing mainly with normal and rock types, Flare Blitz raking out any grass, ice or high-defence opponents, Flamethrower for the other types and/or when I had run out of PP for the other moves and 'Swords Dance' to power-up sharply the two physical attacks, Close Combat and Flare Blitz. 👍

I've beat it now, my Torterra was on lvl 55 or something and i didn't use Graveller. My other major Pokemon were Dialga (lvl 52) and Staraptor (lvl 48) Uxie and Azelf also helped minorly. I can't be bothered with Mesprit. :indiff:

Ah yeah, that's the one, Exp. Share. Didn't have the game with me to check it out.

Ah, so there is a difference between Exp. Share pokemon as in less impressive stats then in comparison to normal fought Pokemon?

At the moment, mine are around lvl 23, so still a way to go, attemptin' to get the third gym badge. Yeah, not very far but I prefer to take my time with it. Kinda annoying when you catch the wild pokemons and you don't get any experience points for that.

It's a peeve of mine, but... it's still spelt 'Pokemon' when referring to the creatures collectively!

Nonetheless, I don't usually bother with fighting wild Pokemon when I am trying to raise my Pokemon's experience. What I would tend to do at your stage is to use the Vs. Seeker often (but then again, I don't think you'll have acquired that yet).

I actually do have the Vs. Seeker. However I'm not totally au fait with it. I don't really have the wireless capability yet set up in the DS as I've not really sorted that side out (laziness and also want to get on with the story!). Of course, I'm assuming heavily that it is using the wireless function to interact with your mates. But it sounds from what you're saying that I'm wrong. Ah well, it's nice to be wrong. :)

Oh yeah, my bad about the "pokemons" comment! I did mean Pokemon as normal, just was rushing a bit then and couldn't quite remember what word it was to describe a group of Pokemon. Even though I tend to say it as "Pokemons".

I'm currently at Heartstone Village (at least I think it is spelt like that) and just messing about for a bit before then getting serious to attempt the gym badge as I *apparently* don't have a high enough level for the badges! I'm guessing it is a way to get the player to use the Contest side of the game first! lol.

The function of the Vs. Seeker is actually quite simple and does not require to use the wireless function. It's main purpose is to enable you to fight past trainers (trainers that you have fought previously within your journey in D/P) again. To do so, all you need to do is activate the Vs. Seeker near the said trainers and, if they are ready, they will appear with a exclamation bubble above their heads - allowing you to talk to them and subsequently rebattle. Just keep note that you can only activate the device once every 100 steps and that the further you progress through the game (notably beating the Elite Four), the stronger the trainers will become. 👍

Ah ha, thanks for clearing that up. I did only have a quick skim through how to use it and what it was for and very quickly filed it under "wireless only" gadget.....Hm, must make sure I don't jump to conclusions too quickly next time! :)

Nice profile picture btw GT Pro.;)

Never knew this existed lol

Well I have like
5 boxes of events
3 boxes of shinys (85% sure of legitness)
3 boxes of EVd pokemon

Rest are trash and legendaries.

I spent like 3 months for all of these. Havent played in 4 months.

I did get Platinum but got bored 4th gym :)

Have you guys heard about the silver/gold remakes? and to any one who has played platinum is it worth buying a new ds for it? (i exchanged mine on insurance for 4 ps3 games)

Personally, I'd wait till the Gold and Silver remakes come before considering a new DS. I'm pretty sure Platinum is just an updated version of the last two games, like Yellow version... Crystal, etc. There will be much more gameplay in the two upcoming remakes.

Wow, never noticed a pokemon thread. Anywho, i have been playing Emerald recently as DS broke! in the Battle Frontier

ok

I started play platinum yesterday after having not played pearl since release. Much the same as pearl thus far but I know there are a few differences. Might use this game to raise some battle pokemon as I only got 1/2 way through my team I think. Before pearl Yellow and Gold were the two games I played properly. I played Emerald till i finished the story but stopped after that.

Booted up Pearl though to see what I had actually done and realised just how much time I wasted on the game. Grand total of 365 hours and 48 minutes lol. Pokedex all complete, I think 4 battle pokemon with IV's as good as I can possibly do via breeding. I also have on my diamond gamesave another 150ish event pokemon (which some were needed to complete my dex) Actually think I might be missing arceus as that had not had an event yet back when i played the game.

For me anyway it is almost the sole reason I have a DS. new super mario bro's and this are the only two games I have found myself play for longer than a day (which is what my main issue with the ds is, the games are too short!).

Pokemon :embarrassed:, i havent played this for years, i used to play it all the time when i was in school (red, yellow, gold etc), so addictive. I bought the pokemon diamond (i think its called) a few years ago for the nintendo ds, but then my nephew broke my ds so never got the chance to play it, quite a shame as those games are quite genious.

Started playing FireRed again a few weeks ago... So incredibly addicting.

I was playing Fire Red during sci-fi today and I don't know where the hell to go. That ship thing left when I got off of it and I ended up back on rt. 2!
