That's not what Kaz said at all

"Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date. Nothing has been dropped, things have only been added. Whether it be the campaign mode, or the offline gameplay, or the open lobbies, everything has been raised in quality and there is more of it, so there is nothing to worry about. Nothing has been dropped.""

So if you have a quote of Kaz saying that, then please do let us have a link, as that's front page news worthy. In fact he seemed quite clear in separating out this from the later talk of post-launch content.

So please do let us know what the schedule is for course maker, full vehicle modifications using part, dynamic time of day and dynamic weather.

It does however remind me of GT6, with all the new stuff coming just around the corner, how long did it take for all of that to land?

Did the Vision GT stuff actually all come out?

I know that when my PS3 died about a year after the 4 launched I lost my save and so moved onto the PS4 and I was still hearing about new VGT cars coming out for it

More recent article stating smaller 150ish cars at launch with more to be added via Updates and DLC

Not all of them, but don't say that it might make it unfinished and some people will get upset about that.

Which was not what Kaz was talking about at all.
"Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date"

Those are Kaz's words not mine, so please let us know how we can access the features missing from past titles on our copies of the game or when they will be coming?

As either they are not in the title right now (which would make it unfinished), they are coming via DLC (which would need a schedule to show and still make the current title unfinished) or they are not coming at all (which would make Kaz's word massively inaccurate).

Look its really not difficult to acknowledge these things.
  • Project Cars was unfinished, it didn't get the Oval tracks or animated pit stops they said it would have.
  • Driveclub was unfinished at launch, as it didn't get the weather until later
  • Assetto Corsa is still unfinished as its still missing content and features the PC build has, and is was claimed that PC and console builds would be the same.
  • Project Cars 2 didn't have the on-line championship builder at launch.

In listing the above factual statements nothing happens to the titles I mentioned, no harm is done to them, so why on earth is it so hard to actually acknowledge the rather basic and factual statement that GTS was unfinished at launch! After all its not as if I'm citing some odd and obscure source here is it!

Firstly - Apologies, I just re read all the info provided. I didn't see the 'nothing will be dropped' part. So if some features don't make it then yea Kaz's words are inaccurate. And true his quote does say it's going to have more features. This could be interpreted as 'from launch' or 'over the lifetime of the game' based on that quote.

However, I can agree now that the game could be seen as unfinished given the potential for missed features. For me now its that 'nothing will be dropped' part that could make the game 'unfinished' if they don't announce the course maker, full customisation etc,.

I was initially under the impression GTSport was going to be something completely different with new features that were going to be added via DLC and updates over the course.

A bit off topic, but I watched this and it immediately made me think of what PD did with GT Sport:

I personally have not touched Rainbow Six: Siege because it didn't give me what I had come to enjoy in the Rainbow Six series (especially the Vegas games from last gen.).

Maybe I outta give it the (GT Sport) college try.

Except that's not whats happening with Sport. That could have been it's path, but instead its desperately trying to claw back all the older GT fans who don't like the idea of a new game.

Unless PD announce update release date tomorrow I think we'll have to wait one more week from now.
I'm predicting January now. We should have had a date by now if it was going to be December!

Unless they just release it without telling us - but I doubt it!

I think many people are not content playing a game where actually coming in first may be a rare commodity. Most can beat the AI pretty easily but online it is a totally different ball game. They try a few races find out they are ending up in 12th place or worse and quit racing online.

More serious racing fans or followers understand that gaining 5 positions from 15th to 10th can be considered a win in a way and walk away content, casual gamer's not so much so.

This is my experience (and reaction) exactly. I do not consider myself a top driver, but I consider myself a good driver. But going on-line has been an eye-opening experience. As you mention, beating the AI, even at Professional level with no driving aids is relatively easy.

But on-line, even in the Qualifyings I am consistently several seconds behind the top drivers. On the one hand, this is extremely discouraging. But on the other hand, it is highly motivating, because it shows me how much room for growth there is for me.

Above all, I want to have fun driving racecars; that is why I invest time and effort in playing the game. I want to be good at it, and I want to see my own progress as a race driver reflected in Wins.

As it is, I am not racing on-line; it is fun but it is not rewarding. Racing off-line is not going to help much in becoming a better driver, but it is very rewarding. It is nice to see the credits increase, even if there are no new cars I want to buy. It is nice to see the experience points increase, even if I have reached some sort of plateau.

Surely you see the resemblance in the fact that both developers had a famously established system of game design, and then made a dramatic decision to shake things up - and the fact that most of the post-launch support have been centered around community feedback?

I see the idea that both teams wanted to do something different, that however is kind of where the similarities end.

Siege launched it's game and then built upon it making it better and taking the idea the team had and running with it.
GT Sport's concept was handicapped pre-launch when someone decided that the dev team needed stick in the single player campaign from GT6 so that people who didn't want GT Sport, wouldn't be disappointed.

The community feedback I've seen has been split into two camps. One camp wanting a traditional GT game, the other wanting more content for Sport. The league mode they are adding appeases non of those camps. Not only that, it's pretty clear that the content was at least planned to be included before the game was launched.
I'm not sure that you can really say that this patch was down to the community when the only complaining about the demo was having delayed inputs and the beta feedback was largely positive.

Don't think we're getting the update this month lads. Highly unlikely for them to release it during christmas and new year period.

If it's not released this week, it will only be here at the earliest in january imo.

Hopefully i'm wrong and it will be out this month! Can't wait to have proper gr4 races again.

I think they'll drop it just before Christmas - PD will want people playing GTS over the festive period, and they will want any new players who get the game for Christmas to enjoy it, so the GT League patch will need to be in place before 25/12.

However, if they released it too early, some players would finish GT League before Christmas, so it will probably drop between 22nd and 24th.

How was Sport handicapped by this decision?

The community feedback I've seen has been split into two camps. One camp wanting a traditional GT game

GT League.

the other wanting more content for Sport

More cars, and the switch to daily rotating events, constant adjustments to BOP, physics, etc.

The league mode they are adding appeases non of those camps.

The first few pages of the thread as well as the Internet says otherwise.

You didn't notice the backlash from the community that PD have had to deal with since they laid out the GTS game modes (mainly the lack of the standard career)? It has been going on for the better part of 2017.

The demo was meant to test out the driving dynamics and the performance of the game - so yes, maybe the delayed inputs were the only complaints about the demo (I'm sure there was more though). But that doesn't really change the fact that the MAIN concern for GTS was the lack of GT mode.

I’ve been playing the game since GT in 1997, all major releases.

The core single player gameplay on-track has been stale since the series moved to PlayStation 3. They’ve never invested in improving the single player experience and GT League will be a regurgitation of that stale ‘racing’.
Because there's nothing stale about the core of the game being 3 races on the same few tracks with the same few cars, with no tuning or adjustments to the car and no dynamic weather, time of day or track conditions, racing under the same perfect environmental conditions, over and over and over.

Is it true that GTS will not have American tracks?

Forza has signed an exclusive agreement with IMSA Weathertech and we will not have the tracks of the calendar?

I do not believe that!

But I do not doubt, because it is a tactic to diminish the reputation of GTS.
Not having NA tracks at launch is a huge fail IMO and a bit of virtual slap in the face to the 1/4 of GT fans that have historically come from this region of the world. Whether it's corrected in the future remains to be seen. I'm a little surprised there hasn't been a track DLC yet if I'm honest.

I do not have much desire for campaign mode.

My frustration with the game is the lack of content. Very weak!

I wanted more cars and a lot more circuits. I want classic franchise circuits.

What annoys me the most is the ridiculous amount of tracks.

This really pisses me off.

In particular, I think the best tracks in the world are the American ones. With few exceptions such as Spa, Nurb, Interlagos and Suzuka.

The rest, the American tracks are the best.

Road America, Road Atlanta, The Circuit of America, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Sonoma etc.

The strange thing is that the GT franchise never gave much importance to the classic US tracks.
