Perfect Balance's cars | Small update| 05/03/14

If red is what you want then I recommend this shade:

Ford (Dark) Toreador Red. My '07 Focus was this color and for a red it was pretty neat.

Those cars came in a similar color I believe. My friend has an S13 that color.

Coolant loss could be a bad head gasket...you gettin any white smoke out of the exhaust?
Yes, I am getting white smoke out of the exhaust, I know what it "could" be. It doesn't smell like coolant though, thats why I'm looking at all my other options before saying it needs a head gasket or possibly a head.

Yes though, red with white wheels is where it's at, which is probably what I'll end up doing.

Got some parts in the mail. The first one will hopefully fix my intermittent misfire at cyl 4.

The second is just because I can.

No pics on the car yet because it's dark outside.

Car runs noticably smoother, but that might have just been the plugs themselves, since it needed new ones anyways. The intake gave a slight increase in mid range torque, and added lots of go-fast noises. Car is still automatic though. 👎

EDIT: Still waiting on my H4 Headlight conversion. Now I can has brighter lights. I hate sealed halogens.

EDIT #2: Not the typical modification part you'd normally see for the Civic, but I've got to get this thing in good running condition, not to mention turn it into a 5 speed before I start seriously modding. Bear with me people, I'll get there someday.

So I'm finally getting somewhere....

Manual parts.

$325 for literally everything I need, great deal.👍

And just a shot for the heck of it, includes the 13 dollar spray can job on the front bumper. Looks a lot better than it did.

EDIT: Just realized I never took a before shot of the front because of how bad the bumper looked. You can kind of see it here:

Holy:censored: $400 is a definite steal. Buy a 240 for $400 dollars up in NY and it would get you a 240 with no engine and 3 wheels missing. Hopefully your tranny has no problems.

Well, you have to consider the state of the car when I bought it.

It wasn't running. (although we did get it running before we actually took the car home by replacing the fuel pump)
When it ran it overheated. (needed a thermostat)
The power steering didn't work. (needed fluid)
Headlight motors didn't work. (started working by themselves)
Wipers didn't work (same thing as headlights)
Transmission shifted very harsh and at 4,500 rpm (bad TPS)
Needed and alignment, new tie rod ends, and tires, as well as new brake pads.
I should also mention the car had been sitting for at least 3 years, so it didn't look very nice either.

All of that cost me a whopping 60 bucks to fix though, so while it seemed like a really crappy car to the average person, I came out on the other side with a great deal.

There's a pretty decent looking hog-nose 240 at my college now, has a pedobear sticker in the rear window of the passenger side. Definitely reminded me of you, PB.

So today I got home and found these in my room.

First box contained my new coolant overflow reservior, because mine has a hole in the side.

Lookit dat:

And the second, in preparation for my 5 speed swap:

Also, kind of unexpected, but:

Evo 8 Recaro seats. For free. Something is up with the side bolsters on one though.

Which seat? Left or right? If you've got Japanese seats... lucky you... the one with the wonky bolster will be the passenger seat.

You showed up to your room and there were randomly a pair of Recaros in it?
Well no, not the seats, those came home with me stuffed in my 240.

Drivers unfortunately, but I'm attempting to fix it. Either way, by the looks of things, you can swap them either way, you just have to push the adjustment rod through so it sticks out on the other side of the seat and put the knob on the other side, which is what I think I'll end up doing even if I do get the drivers side glued.

hahaha free Recaros? wtf...
Yeah, doesn't happen often does it, I'm happy as can be.👍

So I installed the coolant reservior. I think it would have fit perfectly if my car was RHD or something, on mine there was some kind of wiring harness that ran along the strut tower and didn't let the reservior sit as flush as it needed to, and as a result, I wasn't able to bolt it in completely. That will be taken care of later. It looks great though.

EDIT: You can actually see the cap for the clutch master cylinder that I've installed in preparation for my manual swap, so there's a bit of another update.

Looks good, if a bit incongruous having a bright, shiny new part when everything else looks manky and old (though in pretty good nick).

It's been a while since I've updated this thread, but I haven't really had anything visual to put in here, but I took a few pics today, thought I'd throw them in.

I've finished the manual swap on the car, and other than needed a new slave cylinder, it's been alright so far. I got a few parts for the interior, so here's photographic proof of my now (has been for some time) manual car.

Parts installed since my last photos:

Isis Short throw shifter
Isis SS clutch line
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
ACT heavy duty street disc clutch
Aluminum shift knob (christmas present)
Circuit Sports spin turn knob
Sweet Red Bull sticker I had laying around

Now, if I only I could scrape up some money to lower it and not have a 5 inch wheel gap...

Looking pretty good so far PB 👍 What's the next step, presuming you can't afford some new springs and shocks just yet?

I hope you were able to spot the sarcasm in that statement. From what I have heard, cut springs are a nightmare. And I would never suggest doing anything that were put anyone's safety on the line.

Sooo. Finally, after saving all my pennies and being super broke, I came home one day to find this:

So this morning I put them on at work and here are the pics!

Just about 3 inches

I should mention a few things though. The tires on the front of the car are too small, and the rear quarter panels of the car are lower than the front fenders. So even though the rear looks lower as far as wheel gap, the car is actually higher in the rear if you look at the frame itself. Wheels should take care of this.

Also, excuse the snow tires on the rear. I don't have anything else to put on and I'm not buying tires.

On to saving pennies for 5 lug and wheels...

:D

What a transformation! it looks great 👍

Why to you have to change the wheel pattern to 5 stud??
They don't make a lot of wheels in big widths in 4x114.3. I need at least 17x9, not to mention low offsets as well to clear the coilovers.

5Lug gives me a lot more choices and I can put my 300ZX brakes on then without having to get rotors redrilled and stuff.

Nice, the coilovers make a huge difference. If you go five stud, you may have to drill out the holes on your new coilovers though:scared:
