Maybe the fan made mock ups are just for fun not intended to look official.

Whether its intentional or not they end up on every news site being sold as the real deal and because some come with detailed specs and write ups and its an excuse to cover another slow news day. I can't quite understand why someone would want to create a whole brochure for something that isn't real anyway.

I haven't read one article in the last few days they doesn't have one of those fan pictures attached to it like 'this is the next playstation' and you even get people commenting below about it like its real  Some are as old as the PS3 itself!

Good point people tend to read into things to much.

It just allows Sony to keep some measure of secrecy.

Yeah it works perfectly for Sony because it throws off the scent all over the place so people don't know what info to trust. These concepts get way too much attention because there is a lack of genuine information and some want to believe anything!

And that also lies the problem to many secrets not enough info gets people frustrated some to the point where they rage.

A little information wouldnt hurt just to keep people interested.

More concept PS4 touchpad controllers, link: http://playstationgang.com/10-best-playstation-4-controllers-option-for-us/

As long as it retains the triggers (your basic accelerator/brake = R2/L2 not default), and of course the Analogue sticks, I think these 'might' work. Especially if the buttons have slight recesses, so you can physically feel that you're 'in', so the speak, the button's place, I actually get irritated pressing the X button, just an odd angle for my thumb or something.

Like the look of it too, don't think we'd have many complaints, but if I'm wrong, just say so :)

The concept of converting the entire controller to touch screen buttons is atrocious. You would push buttons on accident constantly. You wouldn't be able to use it half the time without looking at it. It wouldn't be nearly as precise when you did want to push buttons. It would be laughably fragile. And it would burn through batteries obnoxiously quickly.

Touch sensitive controls are a bad idea. I like resting the middle of my thumb on the X button while having the top if it on the square button, but with a touch pad, you would have to hover over, which would get extremely annoying.

Same here, I hate touch sensitive controls. It may happen that I accidentally push a button that I'm not supposed to and and fudge up (a combo in Tekken, a corner in GT, whatever). This happens way less frequently with real plastic buttons/sticks/d-pads because you can "feel" them, you know you have to actually put some pressure on them to have an effect in the game.

Same happens with touch sensitive keyboards on smartphones, it's so annoying.

Same happens with touch sensitive keyboards. That's why I hate my Galaxy S2 to write sms.

That's why I use swype. It can be infuriating in it's own right at times but much better than trying to type on the keyboard.

According to this, the new consoles will be closer to high end PCs then the PS3 or 360 were at the time of their launch

Well if I remember correctly I heard that the PS4 can also use PS3 controllers so if this turns out to be the case we better stock up on PS3 controllers. When I used to use the D-pad for steering I sometimes got the wrong button but with a touch screen one I would definitely get the wrong buttons.

Wow this hype train is gaining speed.

If there is a touch pad on the controller how can ds3 be compatible?

I thin only one sure thing about PS4 today is not ps1+ps2+ps3 games compatible. Only PS4 so it's cool 👍 I could keep mine ps3's :) I like this new sony idea.

But also no second hand games is a great let down 👎

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to emulate PS1 games at the very least, probably PS2 as well.

Agreed given the extra power the ps4 will have why not the ps2 games?

I quote Amar in neogaf :

Once the six skip the three
Saving for the four
Question stays about the five
Waiting for some more

Due the fact we knew too much
About the four and five
Six will hide until it can
Kevin Butlers' Jive

It's six step left six step right
Rinse, repeat and wait
The three will get some finger food
And four will celebrate.

Besides, we've already seen GT6, only noone was really aware of it ;)

I'd know : what scenes, Amar's talking about ? Anyone has ideas ?
