Take from this what you will....the latest speculation from Kotaku.

Kotaku is the Supermarket rags of the gaming world. In the immortal words of Agent K in Men in Black, "they sometimes find a nut every once in a while."

Does anyone know what time it'll start here in the US (Eastern Time or GMT-5)? I think it would be 6pm but I'm not sure.

If it wasn't for Call Of Duty, XBL would've eventually been reduced to free. Sony really likes to go in the wrong direction, don't they!!! First the reduce game sharing from 5 to 2. We have 5 in our household now!!! Then the rumor about locking games so they can't be resold, and now charging us to play online? Whatever. There isn't enough free crap on Plus to warrant charging for it.

I don't mind paying as long as it is what XBL costs now. Plus that means we could see greater security since there's more money to pay for it.

Personally if I do get a PS4 I will be paying for the online features if they're anything like Plus has been, Plus is great. Price is vital, of course, as are the exclusive games that would entice me to buy a PS4.

I agree with this statement, I've held of paying for plus as I just can't justify the cost, but with PS4 I would upgrade to premium online services if the price is spot on and the feature set is worth it.

Sorry but I paid £8 for 90 days and got about 5 or 6 good games for that price. then I renewed my subscription for another 90 days(offer again so only £8) and first update in February got me Sleeping Dogs and F1 Race Stars.

Anyway the live stream starts at 11PM where I am but I will stay up just to watch this.

I disagree, between the free games, cloud saving and automatic updates there's plenty in Plus to make it worth the money in my opinion. Especially when you compare to to Xbox Live Gold: one gives you free full games like Red Dead Redemption, the other... Lets you play online. Why isn't that free? I don't recall having to pay a subscription to play online on my PC either so the 360 is the exception, hence it is wrong and foolish and should feel bad.

The leaked specs for the Ps4 seem pretty unimpressive, similar to the specs of a budget/mid gaming pc, though a budget gaming pc still blows away the ps3/xbox, so it's gonna be a massive improvement :D. Looking forward to it, hopefully it's not anymore than £300-£400

I wonder if it'll still be primarily black... would be cool if there was more blue lighting or trim.

I remember buying that stupid PS2 vertical stand back in the day just 'cause I liked the way it looked.

At least I didn't get that ridiculous horizontal "stand."

Exciting stuff I hope we get allot info on both the PS4 and GT6 but that would probably be too much to ask for all in one announcement. lol

You know I had a thought last nite...

"Welcome everybody to our big Playstation event in New York this evening, tonight we are here to tell you.....

....we are exiting the gaming console business, its been a blast, laters!"

Sorry but I have to disagree on both counts.

I currently pay for both XBL and PS Plus and don't have a problem doing so for either.

XBL is, from my own experience, a more stable platform than PSN with much quicker integration (simple things like the speed friends lists and trophy/achievement info syncs), and given the price you pay if you shop around I find it worth it.

Plus has certainly offered me plenty of value for money, hell in the last few months alone Batman AC, Sleeping Dogs and Bioshock 2 alone have been worth the annual cost.

This next generation sees an interesting position for myself, as I've always (for three generations) been a 'Playstation at day one' guy. A choice that has been driven by GT for the last two generations. However this time around I am genuinely torn between the two (MS and Sony) a position that I find actually rather nice.

However if one locks used games out then its straight off my list, if both do its time to start looking at PC's (or just throw the money at more guitars).

XBL is $5 a month $60 a year. I can't wait to see what the announcement is tomorrow but I would laugh if the announcement was for a game but not the console or a little teaser and it tells you to wait until E3 to learn everything else about the PS4.
Actually xboxlive deals go on sale a couple times a year and are usually around $32.00 a year. Which is only $2.66 a month for a much better online experience by a longshot. Especially the voice communications. 8 player party chat along with being able to communicate while all in different games. You get what you pay for. I grew up a long time PS fan but free is free for a reason. When it comes to the online experience, xboxlive is miles ahead.

I wouldnt mind paying for PS3 online if it was anywhere near as good as the 360 online.

Among the many consoles scattered around my home are both an XB360 and a PS3. Common consensus in my household is that the XB is 'built like a rock'; hasn't gone down even once in the last two years. The PS3 doesn't like the Internet (at least not in my home) and constantly fights it.
I use all three platforms (wii, too) and find them all the same (blasphemy!) because I never play online - but I'm hoping that the PS4 is going to be a lot more internet-friendly - and from what I'm hearing so far, it seems like Sony have focused on that.

Hopefully there are no massive disappointments tonight and everything is positive regarding the PS meeting.

It will be interesting to see the effect of the new consoles though, I reckon a lot more current PC only games will be coming to consoles including most PC racing sims which should be good.

That is probably one of the main reasons why Microsoft have got away with it so long. The only way they will continue to do so is if Sony start charging to play online too. If they don't I can't see Microsoft lasting long with the current paying to play online model they have with XBL.

Simply because the architecture will be same as current PCs used. Not much work will have to be done to make it run on the new consoles. After costs of dev kits and costs of releasing game on consoles, you can then appeal to a massive audience for a relatively small cost. The only difference will be the mod factor in the racing games will probably go down a lot but still have a few number of cars with decent physics. Lower priced games may be attractive enough to get large number of extra sales though.
