Actually, I think the negative effect is more like being in a restaurant eating your main course, and a waiter comes over and asks if you want a drink. You really fancy some Champagne, but it's out of your price range. Suddenly, the bloke sitting at the table next to you opens a bag and offers you the same bottle of Champagne but for nothing. Before long, the whole Restaurant is drinking this Champagne and the restaurant hasn't made a single penny out of it. A week down the line, no one even cares about drinking the champagne no more, as everyones bored of it.
So the negative effect is, the champagne loses its value, and the restaurant goes out if business.
I like it a lot. I dislike cheaters.
I personally enjoy when a game has something that will take a long time to obtain. I don't buy video games that often, so when I plop my $ down for a game, I want to know it will keep me playing for awhile. Knowing some of these cars will take me awhile to get is part of the fun for me. But different strokes for different folks and all that đź‘Ť
truth!!!it requires the exact same amount of skill to duplicate a car as it does to run 5 laps around indianapolis; i.e. Zero. Maybe if there was a more enjoyable way to earn money this wouldn't be such a big deal.
To be fair, the Duplication glitch would not exist if we couldn't back up our saves. It was when the community badgered PD forever to have the ability to backup games that we opened up this exploit. PD just identified it far too late.
There are many online games out there that became completely broken with hacks because it means new players are at a disadvantage from the outset. This exploit is not too dissimilar, because it's just like a money cheat.
The only refuge we have is that online races are still primarily based on driving ability. But this fact does not make the Duplication exploit suddenly fine.
The 'system' is an exploit, a glitch, a form of cheat that the developers never intended to be in the game. The developers don't want you to play the game like this, they're the ones who changed it. It was either this, or the re-implementing copy protected save games which is a lot worse...
It applies to the marketplace. This completely does not apply...
wishing you some good rides as spring finally rolls around
Wish I would have seen this thread earlier...
I got a BMW V12 LMP car as a gift ticket.
I already had one so I gifted it to a friend... guess it's gone eh?
Would it have been too much trouble for the game to simply come up with an error saying, "cannot gift vehicle valued over 999,999" ??
At least then I would still have the duplicate car and not have to spend a million refreshing one once wore out.
It's stupid.
I hope all the condescending elitist crybaby ****ers are happy that they got their way. I'm still amazed that so many people cared so much. In the old days, anybody could buy a Gameshark and have 999,999,999,999,999 credits if they wanted to, and it had no effect how you, me or anyone else played their game. There's no difference between duping and sharking.
Oh, and FYI for all the complainers, it requires the exact same amount of skill to duplicate a car as it does to run 5 laps around Indianapolis; i.e. zero. Maybe if there was a more enjoyable way to earn money this wouldn't be such a big deal.
Another FYI, I'll qualify my statements by saying that I've duped two cars in my life: a Sauber C9 and an FGT in the color I wanted (I already had purchased one). Everything else I've earned. I could care less about having 50 X1's to trade for more cars. I want to be able to play GT5 to enjoy the cars I want to without having to drive around in a circle for 20 hours.
I didn't read the whole thread and someone may have said this; I don't trade, dupe,or the bday thing. my son has an account and I have an account and we haven't "gifted" "traded" and Ive worked my arse off to get what I have and yes Ive "grinded" same arse off!
That's what I have been thinking about for a while.

lol, for the 24hrs than crybabies have spent in this forum crying, they had made a lot of money while racing in the game and buying/winning one of those expensive cars about they are bitching against PD
Yes, I complete agree. In this case, the "restaurant" is the GTP Marketplace. Those who are offering rare cars for free will make those who want a proper trade seem meaningless. In fact, I think that Update 1.07 was only there to "save" the GTP'ers who want a legit trade.
How does screwing them over completely, "save them" in any way?
So after buying my friend the Audi R8 LMS Race car that he couldn't find in the UCD, I'm stuck with 2 of them; How does that help anyone? Or the guy who wanted my Ferrari Enzo for his Chrome paint chip? Or my other friend who has the FGT that I payed 4.8M credits for, and can't gift it back?
This is a case of screwing over the majority in lieu of the minority.
IN MY OPINION (notice how it's bolded and capitalized), I think that Update 1.07 is screwing over the dupers, and they deserve it. Unfortunately, like you said, the majority of traders are legit, and they too are being punished for the dupers' actions.
I suppose this is PD's (temporary) way of stopping the dupers. Hopefully, PD will come up with a better solution for them. I've already read a couple of great solutions in the forums that won't affect the legit traders in any way!
I like how smug you are about it, but if you had bothered to read through your own thread, you'd know it doesn't really affect them because they already have the 1 mill + cars.
In my opinion (notice how its bolded) the prize money for seasonals should either decrease or there should be no more of them at all. I'd enjoy reading about elitists running Indy a couple hundred times to 'earn' their car.
The non-trading noobs and those with a life "grind" Indy. The elitists "grind" NĂĽrburgring 4Hr in the Alfa Romeo TZ2.
Just because they already have the 1 mill + cars doesn't stop them from duping them. That said, I'm not against duping at all. It's just something that is irrationally frowned upon. I can understand why the dupers do their thing, and I also understand why non-dupers don't like dupers. Update 1.07 is a simple case of trying to impress one party but upsetting another.I like how smug you are about it, but if you had bothered to read through your own thread, you'd know it doesn't really affect them because they already have the 1 mill + cars.

And if they already have the cars, and they make more of the same car for themselves, which they already had previously... what is your point? And how does it affect you in any way?
This is not a trick question.
My point is that people feel cheated on when they trade with a duper. This does affect me
