POLL: Do You Like The <1,000,000 Cr. Gift Restriction?

I personally enjoy when a game has something that will take a long time to obtain. I don't buy video games that often, so when I plop my $ down for a game, I want to know it will keep me playing for awhile. Knowing some of these cars will take me awhile to get is part of the fun for me. But different strokes for different folks and all that 👍

that would be fair enough if it was still fun, but doing the same repetetive boring thing over and again is not.

I just hope in the next update they delete B spec entirely and add all new A spec races in their place, that is the only update that new need to implement, B spec = Boring spec

Another thing just sprang to mind......anyone thought about the reason why PD (Sony) have restricted the duping / gifting aspect of the game.... ready.... you got it ... $$$$$DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT$$$$$.
I see a future of downloadable car packs coming...Watch this space!
(EA haven't just bought PD have they?):nervous:

I agree a lot with this, but what I don't enjoy is having to repeat things in a tedious quest to get a car that you would normally want to earn through races that progress you in the game and give you a sense of accomplishment by letting you see how you have moved forward as well.

I hear ya man. I really miss what seemed like an endless amount of races in GT4.

Thanks man. Definitely happy the warmer weather is coming back around. Was getting sick of riding in 30 degree temps.

No kiddin! And my town doesn't clear streets very well, so I took my fair share of spills on ice this winter...

This and the UCD which accounts for 80% of the games cars, are the main reasons why GT5 is such a poor game (Compared to GT4).

I got NFS shift recently. The events in this game put GT5 to shame. So many events to enter that you don't have to buy a new car for (Events that you can enter without having to wait 100+ cycles of the UCD to get the required car for basically).

What can I say, i'm a hardcore GT fanboy that hates GT5 for it's so many flaws. Flaws which the development time only multiplied.

I think it should've been like that from the beginning.
I also got some expensive cars gifted by friends (without asking), I thanked them etc. but it actually made the "rare" and expensive cars in the game a joke since everyone could get them for free (I traded a Cusco Subaru against an F10 here, I mean, come on...). Now you will have to be careful on which cars you spend your money and you will appreciate the cars more once you own them.

By the way, don't forget that you can "rent" cars from friends now, so if you need a car for a special event or photo session, ask someone.

So what is new to that?? I always looked what car to buy, i just cant trade a cheaper one the other hasnt. That's all. The lm cars i are a clk gtr and a sauber c9. Clk cost me my ford gt lm2 test car and the other i got for an old rally car. Different people like different cars. That's it. No need to turn em down for that.
Than again what about people having multiple stealth codes?? They are worth money and were preorder bonuses or... Will they get hunt down to find who trespassed the law and provided them all their codes since i know for fact that a lot of english preorderer didnt vet their codes from amazon or where ever. They didnt use skill to get them and still the codes are handled very expensive. So how qbout that?

I like it but I would like it better if the gift option was completly gone out of the game.
I understand why they dont open a storefront where users can sell/trade their cars or something because 10 turn would then acuse PD of copying their game but this gift thing is neither fish or steak...

PD are dissillusioning me more and more with every update, there are not enough main races, events and championships, b spec is the same as a spec only 5000x more boring as you try and coax an utter moron round the track only for him to spin off at the last corner of the last lap, so thats 20 laps of REAL TIME wasted. The endurances most are too long for me to sit and complete and they cant be saved mid race. Then every update that comes along they take away 1 more thing that was still entertaining, like this time i cant even legitimately trade high value cars with friends.

I really feel like i got conned by PD into buying this game and its just living off the reputation of far far superior titles previous to this, the more i find out the more i wish i hadnt bothered.

I have the buyers remorse

Actually, one good thing about this is that people will not get scammed as badly during trading if they get cheated.

Still, not a good enough reason to place in this limit!!!

Wish I would have seen this thread earlier...
I got a BMW V12 LMP car as a gift ticket.
I already had one so I gifted it to a friend... guess it's gone eh?

Would it have been too much trouble for the game to simply come up with an error saying, "cannot gift vehicle valued over 999,999" ??
At least then I would still have the duplicate car and not have to spend a million refreshing one once wore out.

Yamauchi-san, tear down this wall!

Nevertheless I managed to gift a Citroen GT Race Car (5.6 Million fro my JPN account to my main account).

And the new gift limit of five cars, five colors and five museum cards per PS3/ day (before it was per account/day).
That absolutely limits the usefulness of secondary accounts for daily harvesting and sending it to the main account.

No, everything still works like before, you just have to wait a day longer if you want to send the car back to your original account. You can still gift any car of any value, 1,000,000 + credits included.

Now you will have to be careful on which cars you spend your money and you will appreciate the cars more once you own them.

The origins of this horribly incorrect assumption will forever elude me. Having a rare car (in GT5 no less) makes it more appreciated? How?

I'm not bothered by it because I don't feel the need to own every race car in the game. Checking the UCD each time it's fully refreshed after five races is very exciting. I'm always eager to see what cars have popped up.

Also, I enjoy driving all cars, even the low powered ones. Why is everyone so obsessed with owning every damn race car in the game? Is it so they can race them online using racing soft tires?

I do see that I lot of people were using the trading system legitimately. These people are going to suffer and for them I feel bad. All I can say is that the duplicators spoiled it for you. PD obviously wasn't going to sit by and watch thousands of players exploit their game.

This sucks, LOL. I voted dislike because I'm an honest trader and car collector as well as a racer. :grumpy:

This limits a lot of things for us who also enjoy the car-collecting side of the game. I understand the obvious exploit of getting free cars and such, as I've done it before too (that's how I got both Ferrari F1s for free anway :) :guilty: ), and them (meaning PD) trying to address the issues, but sheesh! This was a bit too much. Trading was one of the very best features in this game. And I met a lot of good people through it too. Online, yes, was indeed cluttered with people who had X2010s and other insane cars that they didn't deserve and/or acquire legitimately, but that's what lobby restrictions are all about. Besides, a game that's sold this much, and has a fanbase this big, expect way more than a few idiots to ruin your day. Online can be like Call of Duty, except with cars.

I don't understand why they would limit the trade to cars that pretty much anyone can buy without much hassle or are affordable through an easy 20 or so minutes of racing Indy (you know, that Indy). I don't care about your Enzo or F1. Or your Focus RS, or your Volvo C30, when I can go make a quick buck (a really quick buck, I might add) and buy one myself from the new dealership. I'm more interested in your shiny red X2010, or your prestigious Chaparral 2J, because I'm not about to spend 5 years grinding just to get one car... only to end up broke from buying it, and having to do it again :yuck:

At least allow really high end cars (race cars, cars worth 7 figures and such) to be sold for something in return (like 1/3 or 1/4 of the original price before it was bought), instead of getting rid of it for nothing, or return the ability to win prize cars over and over again (this could help immensely). Or heeeeeyyyyy... how about even more races to do! (And NO, I'm not talking about the seasonals, they're great). I mean, expanding A-spec (or at least B-spec, for that matter) so that it's got depth like previous GTs, or more (now there's an afterthought 💡).

For those in favor of this patch, and against "cheaters" (or whatever it is you guys believe us to be), think about it for a minute. No one got hurt duping. And yeah, it was unfair, to see newbies with the entire Le Mans squad in their garage (so why not do the same, and join them? Trading is fun after all), but majority of us aren't hermits, and have far more important things to do. You guys also have to remember that this is just a game, and who cares what you do in it, or to it, so long as it doesn't affect others and ruin it for them (and it didn't, other than a few feelings of envy and/or jealousy, with a mix of disappointment and distaste). This in time will alienate HUGE amounts of people (unless... unless of course, it's fixed again, and then another round of complaining commences ). GT won't have that same online community feel to it that made it so very special in my tiny library of great PS3 games. :nervous: :ill: 👎 :indiff:

Just my 2 cents.

The whiners have won. They whined and whined and whined about how I play my own game, which has no effect on them, and ISN'T ANY OF THEIR BUSINESS.

PD gave in to the whiners and now THEY have made MY game less fun.

I won't be buying any more expensive cars. I can't afford them. I don't have time to sit for hours running circles at indy just to "buy" a "car" with "money" I "earn".

Think for a second and you'll see why I put all those words in quotes.

I didn't "buy" anything because it's already on my disc. I just unlocked it.

I put "car" in quotes because there is no car. It's just a bunch of ones and zeros in a game.

I put "money" in quotes because there is no money. Same as above.

I put "earn" in quotes because there is no sense of accomplishment associated with grinding. It's tedium. If there were more than a dozen A-spec races, or if the races paid a decent amount of "money" then I'd be happy to earn it.

The fact that PD decided to substantially sully the gaming (see the word GAME) experience of thousands of players based on the false pride of a few just disappoints.

"I have grinded Indy more times than you! I am AWESOME!!!" Think about it.

1. Who cares about the X1? It's retarded anyway. Let the people who want to race them online go ahead and race them. If you pull that car out in one my rooms, you get the boot, end of story.

2. These are virtual cars in a video game! They have no value, we all have them on the disc we paid $60 for.

3. Why do you want cars to be "rare"? Would you feel so special if you had a certain car and nobody else had it? IF that is the case, you really need to set some real goals in life and find a proper sense of achievement.

4. PD never said they wanted any car to be rare. The option to gift cars was included since day one. Therefore the X1, or any other "rare" car could have been passed around like a Taiwanese hooker eventually regardless.

3 great posts that I 100% agree with.

Those saying that duping affects you online. Well thats your fault then isn't it? You either don't go into the rooms that are full of idiots in their X2010's or you set restrictions on your own room. It's simple really.

Also, the X2010 is a bag of crap anyway. Its a stupid, pointless, completely unrealistic, absolutely ridiculous car. I have got one but only for B-Spec grinding cause it makes it so much quicker, I will never, ever drive it myself though.

I'll happily spend a couple of million on a car but anything over that then I'll back up my data and "buy" it for free as I simply cannot be bothered to waste my time grinding or redoing races that I've already done. The biggest money is the Dream Car Championship and to grind that enough times, in B-Spec using the X2010, to buy a 20,000,000 car, would take more than 20 goes, at around an hour and half a time thats somewhere around the 30 hour mark. More than a day of constant grinding just to buy one car, after which you'll be back at zero credits and you've got to do more monotonous grinding if you want to buy another car.

Duping hurts absolutely no-one. I've legitimately gone through the game to a point where there isn't much more that I can do (or want to do) so what is wrong with me doing the occasional back-up to get a car for free instead of throwing all my credits down the drain that I've wasted hour after hour after hour grinding to get?

Not completely for it but it does make users play the game fairly and it will decrease the scamming significantly.

No why would it reduce scamming??? I say it neither multiply nor reduce scamming again, since if they dont dupe lose a car or so!! But most duped all the expensives already. And people buying under 1mil cars are mostly dudes that startet playing, and dont have banked multiple millions? They can easilly scam you for cheaper cars. That's al

I would love nothing more than a bunch of $1mil prize seasonal races that are extremely difficult to win, then those who can consistently do it get to buy the most valuable cars... how you got that I would enjoy anything "tedious" from my response is beyond me and tells me you didn't really attempt to understand what I wrote, just saw someone disagreeing with you so you jumped on it.

You can have hard fights in the seasonal, go for bad tires and dont mod the car easy, you get what you want and the one who wants to mod a car cause he maybe cant afford a wheel has a chance of finishing that event and get the money. This defently is about ego and boasting. And what you guy's are pissed at is mqinly that others access to them cars you use as pe is enlarges. That's it nothin less nothin more. I couldnt care less havin an X1 cause i think it is dumb to have m in game. This fantasy blueprint car. Where is my Batmobil??? I say GT go back to the roofs and give us our road cars and leave F1 to an other developper. PD wants an X1 game they should buy the rights for Ridge racer or wipe out.
Gt was about the roadcars battling each other and should have stayes that way, like a day at the nürburgring, where u occasionally see a race modded car on a saturday.

PD obviously wasn't going to sit by and watch thousands of players exploit their game.[/QUOTE]

Really? I mean really? You will play the way I intended or 50 lashes! You can not dupe. That is bad! You will have your "friends" use your imaginary drivers in an imaginary race that you don't even know about and make money! You will have Bob run an endurance while you are watching TV or getting a bite to eat! You will NOT get to race certain races even if you have passed all tests because the only judge of your ability is how many times you have beaten AI! Really?

First of all, I really do like the 1M restriction.

Anyway, like it or not, I hope this might be the first step needed to offer DLC car packs. Imagine that if the new cars are hiddenly downloaded with the regular update patches and then their unlocked via the PS Store, PD won´t like them to be duped and traded as it actually occurs.

So infact you assume that PD doesnt care if anyone "cheats" and take these people's money. Than if they could not get all the guys pay for cars that should be in or tracks... Finished on release... Is that the way they wanna go??? That is actually cheap. Means yet another game released unfinished for the price of a finished one. And know we shall pay to get it??? Honestly i rather have them ban dupers from Psn network. At least that would be a straight action. But that gonna cost sony so many customers and scare even more to the dark side of xbox gaming so it will never happen.

Why would dislike for 1.07 imply that race cars are preferred to road cars? And where did you pull the last sentence in that paragraph from?

The expensive cars require the most grinding, and grinding is something that only detracts from the game for many. Duping/Trading for expensive cars saved many people a lot of time and allowed them to focus on enjoying the game.

I do see that I lot of people were using the trading system legitimately. These people are going to suffer and for them I feel bad. All I can say is that the duplicators spoiled it for you. PD obviously wasn't going to sit by and watch thousands of players exploit their game.

The only ones to blame are PD for not thinking straight. They had the choice to leave GT5 as it was or create unnecessary changes. They chose the latter. No one was cheating or causing harm via exploiting, so trying to shut it down can only be called a mistake.

And if there was someone to blame on the forums, it's likely the people calling for restrictions since they couldn't live without having control over other people.

I dont like it, i LOVE IT!

Finally, i dont get it why people say that duping doesn't affect us, because it did i used to trade before the duping started, then the market flooded with lots of x2010 and all the "rare cars" stoped being rare now they are common..

I started reading this and i almost cried laughing at how the dupers say poliphony digital sucks just because they restricted the "Gifting"..

By the way people are getting money with duping, check ebay do you think that is something PD wants to see? Someone wanting to sell X2010 for 50$?

Sure not tbey rather see that 50 bucks going in their pocket. Insteqd of letting a guy that maybe for a very dumb reason (not his fault) got unemployed and could get some extra bucks for the end of the month. So much for the good intention of PD doing the thing for a sane community, lmao. Doing the right thing out of the wrong reason doesnt do it beeing right, that is called luck.

RedBullRacer
No, it's more like a restaurant opening up with an All you can eat bar and then a table comes in that eats the whole restaurant, every single day for a week. In the end the restaurant would have to change their policy, this is all it is, a change in the policy to stop the cheating. You shouldn't be mad with PD, you should moan at the cheaters who abused the system, it's always the same, people take the piss with these things and then the honest people suffer.
I just have to counter this stupid analogy. What it's like is if a family comes in and pays the price for the food, takes one of each item, and then duplicates the food with some machine, and they're the only ones eating the duplicates. Nice try though.

No, it's more like they make this machine like you say and then start giving everyone free meals right outside the restaurants front door!

I can't get my 908 Hdi FAP back from my buddy!
I like what PD are trying to do but it affects innocent "gifters" (not traders as I have been told) from "gifting" cars that are not the X2010.
Couldn't they just ban the X2010 from being traded until they properly sort it out
