POLL: Do You Like The <1,000,000 Cr. Gift Restriction?

It is pretty BS. This is coming from someone who never gifted a car over a million as anything other than a loan, and someone who never planned on doing so either.

I'm at a loss for words regarding how PD feel wasting time doing something stupid and spiteful things like this is more important than actually fixing the issues with the game that lead people to abuse the gifting system in the first place.

Well said. My sentiments exactly.

I dont like it, i LOVE IT!

Finally, i dont get it why people say that duping doesn't affect us, because it did i used to trade before the duping started, then the market flooded with lots of x2010 and all the "rare cars" stoped being rare now they are common..

I started reading this and i almost cried laughing at how the dupers say poliphony digital sucks just because they restricted the "Gifting"..

By the way people are getting money with duping, check ebay do you think that is something PD wants to see? Someone wanting to sell X2010 for 50$?

So, what was the exact influence of this on your game and how does the new rule make this better?

I AGREE, and CAN'T BELIEVE PD didn't put an UNLOCK ALL CARS option in this game!!! Also, LET ME CHOOSE MY OWN LEVEL, I WANT TO BE at LVL 40 INSTANTLY!!! How does it affect you other guys... IT DOESN'T! I PAID FOR THIS GAME I AM ENTITLED FOR IT TO BE EXACTLY AS I WANT, NO WAY THE GAME DEVELPER SHOULD HAVE A SAY IN HOW I GET TO EXPERIENCE THE GAME!!!

I mean come on, they fixed something they never intended to be a part of the game.

btw how many cars in the game are actually over 1,000,000?

That would be true if there was no online component to GT5. However, and this is a trend in the entire gaming industry, GT5 now also focusses on online gaming and thus needs restrictions to balance the playing field. I too payed for this game and for me, this update will balance out the rare cars again when going online. I personally like it, even though I lost a Toyota 7 to a friend because of this.

edit: btw, I'm pretty sure this is just a temporally solution, try to practice a little patience
edit2: slap on my head for missing the obvious sarcasm here :)

He can trade back the Toyota today. Trade has been temporarily enabled again. I just gifted a Citroen Race Car to my main account.

Why do they care how their customers play the games that they purchased with THEIR own money! Who was duping really hurting anyway, until PD got involved? This is a lazy fix to a bunch of whining and now legit "traders" get punished. Should have just left it alone...

Uh, I don't get all the whining. I can still gift 1+ million cars to my friends. I just gifted a friend of mine this morning a Chaparral 2J race car and it went through no problem, and I did it right after downloading the update.

So, in which way has it really been restricted? Who here actually has had the game physically block a trade or a gift?

waaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa the naughty wapanese wont let me twade my precious cars which i glitched anyway waaaaa

Oh how nice.
When did I ever talk about having the game completely open to me?
Duping cars as it was, still required me to earn the money before buying a car.
I just didn't wanna throw away 12.500.000cr on a car that can't be used in races (thinking of the Ferrari F2007 here), so while I wanted the car, I didn't wanna spend that much on it. I still had to earn the money to buy it though.
For me, that's how it is with a lot of cars. I want them, but I sure as hell don't want them bad enough to spend a ridiculous amount of money on them.
Like the old classics worth 20mil cr. Now I'm never gonna get those.
And as for the cars over 1mil, there's plenty. Lots in the UCD, and some premiums too. Like the Zonda R, Citroen GT, all the classics, the F1 cars, and I'm sure plenty more. I'm just glad I got all those before 1.07.

As for my point, of the duping not affecting you, it still stands.
How does it hurt you that I can cheat? Why does it makes you happier, that I can't play the game as I want to. (again, ONLY talking of duping here)

The system was abused, so it had to be taken away. People who have lost cars that were on a loan or whatever, you only have the dupers to blame.

Fail.

By your logic all cars should be outlawed. Cars kill thousands of people every day. So does electricity, lets get rid of that. And tall buildings too. And surgery, cooking, and animals in general, but especially deer. Yeah, just take away everything harmful, like... the earth, right? Make another one out of nerf rubber? That's the solution.

:dunce:

Small minded power-trippers with delusions of godliness are the ones who decided alcohol was being abused so that was taken away once upon a time. Read up on prohibition and see how THAT worked out, okay?

I just don't like that they're TAKING AWAY A FEATURE after I already bought the game.

That's wrong any way you cut it.

It's like ordering a meal at a restaurant, having the plate in front of you, and a chef coming out and grabbing your side of green beans and running away.

This is the first game on PS3 I ever had that took away a harmless feature. (And no, it wasn't "harming" brownnosing fanboys). That's startling, hopefully not a trend to come in video games.

I mean if you want to bend over and watch a developer take away features after you paid for them, I think you'd do well in one of those hardline states that haven't started revolting yet.

I think PD decide to make this restriction , must give some time to
player return the car to their friends. If someone "borrow" the X-1 PROTO TYPE
to their friend vir gift option for one week 3 days ago, then , seems no chance can get it again in the same account.
I don't know if challenge the event again can get one more without the car in the garage.

Whether you like these changes or not - I think this is a further insight into why it took PD so long to release this game in the first place!

Low credits/experience -> increase credits/experience -> lower credits/experiece
Trading -> restrictive trading
Advertized GT5-Prologue garage import -> no garage import
Advertized update dates -> missed update dates
etc etc etc

I think you'd find it hard to find a PD employee that could tell you what day it was, let alone give you a product development road-map! ... "monday, no wednesday, no no friday, no definitely monday, or it could be sunday"

Because it's their game and can govern how it's run anyway they please.

I'm mostly fine with this except for one thing: cars degrade over time-- even with overhauls. So this makes me not want to drive some of my cars. If they don't allow trading of expensive cars, at least make the expensive cars as good as new with overhauls.

👍

I think I've got all of the LM cars I wanted through horrid B-Spec and A-Spec grinding/license test power-refreshing and was going to send them to a secondary account after doing engine overhauls for just this reason, but I guess I'll have to just wait until they pop up again in the UCD or OCD for me to begin hoarding them. Maybe a completely new engine for two or three times as much as an overhaul?

Trading wasn't intended either. So the fact that cars were devalued is irrelevant.

I think it's a good move, it was so obvious most people were just abusing it...sadly, people seem to like cheating these days, and it's always the honest people who suffer. But, I personally don't really see the problem now that you can share cars with your friends. So, if your friend really wants to drive that X1 you have, they still can.

You have got to be freaking kidding me? You blame it on the whiners, and have you had a look at yourselves? This forum today is just full of people whining and moaning about this. The 'community' here has gone to pot.
The difference being that the complaining now is justified.

No, it's more like a restaurant opening up with an All you can eat bar and then a table comes in that eats the whole restaurant, every single day for a week. In the end the restaurant would have to change their policy, this is all it is, a change in the policy to stop the cheating. You shouldn't be mad with PD, you should moan at the cheaters who abused the system, it's always the same, people take the piss with these things and then the honest people suffer.

Hilarious thread. God forbid you have to earn a car the way a developer intended you earn it.

They're trying to remove the 'cheapness' that became car collecting in GT5 by way of the douchebaggery that ensued by exploitation.

Why do they care how customers play? Because it's their name on the product, and if there had been no such exploitation in the first place, people would be much more satisfied when they finally got that 1966 Jag, which would have driven the game's replay value through the roof.

Sadly, this is obviously too little, too late, but at least it sets a precedent, much like when people cheated on the Academy. PD is saying, quite clearly, if you cheat, we will change it drastically. This game was designed with adults in mind, and obviously the designers don't care for the antics of children.

People, stop whining. You can still gift any car. Quoted from another thread:

It hasn't been lifted. Sending between user accounts on the same PS3 was unaffected apart from it's now one a day per ps3. I sent a 20m car first thing this morning - hours before Kaz's tweet.

I voted "dislike", but I would like to expand on it by saying my vote is really for "dislike, but not terribly opposed to it".

I "dislike" it, because it's not very fair to all players to drastically change the game by removing/restricting such a highly-used part of the game - particularly unfair to those who chose to use properly use the trading system without the intent of exploiting the loophole that it was.
I'm "not terribly opposed to it" because I've only done one trade (a second Formula Gran Turismo I won off a gift ticket for some paint chips), and think that any attempt to address the exploitation of the loophole that was the prior trading system is better than no attempt at all.

(Please note, I am not expressing any sort of personal opinion when it comes to whether any particular gameplay methodology is "right or wrong", "bad or good", or anything like that. I am only expressing a personal opinion that the prior trading system was a gameplay "loophole", and that I believe while intent of the updated trading system to address this "loophole" is something that's a positive, I also believe it's not fair to those who were not using the "loophole" but are now adversely impacted.)

Peace...
