Not saying it's a realitic goal in the first place, but how can the PS3 not handle that? The amount of cars that can be put in the game is dependent on disc space.

Tree'd by Simon.

The PS3 cant handle 900+ highly detailed premium cars. Keep your rocket in your pants wait tell PD releases GT7 or GT6.5 or whatever on the PS4. Jeez you people need to understand that PD has used the limit of the PS3s capabilities.

You don't get it. Some people, including me, don't need that big amount of cars. I would be satisfied even with 200 of them. I just don't want to see these standart abominations on the same track with premiums. That's all.

I highly doubt PD is going to add a toggle for turning standards off to the game, in fact I'll give you 1,000,000/1 odds on it, so you'll either have to get used to it or not buy it.

400-500 Premiums or 400-500 Premiums PLUS 800 standards? More cars to drive and customize, as well as more variety of opponent A.I. Enough said.

Well, don't use what you don't want to. What difference does it make when you're racing against a standard car anyway. Never found the aesthetics to be that different when racing.

Uhm i was thinking... how do you think we'll buy them this time? I'm not a big fan of the random selection in the used dealership. Apart from the estetical deal this was the biggest one imo.

I'd like to see a return to how it was done in GT2 where we had "new cars" and "used cars" on sale by manufacturer, or at least something similar to that. Essentially somewhere we can buy a selection of cars in showroom "new" condition and another where we can buy "used" cars with miles on them for less money.

But I don't think they should be two completely exclusive / separate "dealerships" though at least in terms of content, by that I mean I think some cars from the "new" dealership should also pop up in the "used" one. So if you want to buy say a Ferrari 599 you can go to the "new" dealership and pick out a brand new one in any stock colour you like for 320k credits, or you can wait to see if one pops up in the "Used" dealership and pay say 250k for a green one with 50k miles on it.

Almost 60% of the people here don't seem to mind the Standards. Now while I would like all 1200 cars to be premium, I am curious to see exactly what can be done with the cars in GT6.

And I don't use them in GT5. For me personally, that's crucial in some way. The difference is that like you play a ps2 game. Standarts spoil the integrity of the finished product. The game feels like some beta version. Not that I play games for graphics, but standarts just stand out too much as for me and that is impossible to avoid them at least in GT5.

Not happy but it's not a dealbreaker!

I wonder would people of tolerated PS1 car's in GT4 back in the 2000's? Would GT's name been big enough to allow the flaw or is it a matter of the majority of people will just reluctantly accept it?

Seriously? How can you compare PS1 cars in GT4 to the standards cars in GT5?

I think the question is too vague.Am I happy that there are standards in GT6 ? no. Would I be happy if they removed them and just left the premiums? no. Would I prefer they update the standards ( replace older models with newer or later year models ) ? yes

I need to know the quality of the standard cars. If the textures look similar to premium cars, and there's at least SOME attempts to increase the poly count on extremely offending models, I'll be good. I like the quality to be more consistent in the games I play.

In GT5 it's WAY too obvious which is standard and premium. I'd like it to be a little difficult to tell in GT6, and have all cars have equal customization options. It's looking like it'll happen, too.

Well yea considering the generation and the cars graphical leaps but the graphical leap from GT2 to gt4 is bigger than gt4 to gt6...for the most part... imo

That's certainly true but yeah, the concept is still exactly the same. Previous gen assets in the second game of a current gen game.

Because it's exactly the same situation maybe?

Simon, there's a fine line in everything. The only situation that's similar is that they're only one generation of a difference. You're saying if they put PS3 quality cars in GT PS4 it would be the same situation? Or if they used Super Nintendo models for their N64 games? That said, the difference in quality from PS1 to PS2 is much bigger scale than PS2 to PS3. I can't believe I even have to explain this.

This! I mean I really don't understand hell would I like 1200 premiums who wouldn't. It's just not going to happen, I think PD is doing the next best thing they can do. In the end I want to drive all the cars, and I am extremely happy that standards will get more customization and photomode location.

Technically speaking it's not exactly the same, "PS1 cars in GT3" would a more a more accurate situational comparison to "GT4 "standard" cars in GT5".

"PS1 cars in GT4" is would be more accurately compared to "GT4 "standard" cars in GT6", but we don't know that we're getting that same (low) quality of GT4 import / "standard" car in GT6 yet.

We do know we're going to have "unPremium" quality cars in GT6, but right now we're just assuming they're going to suffer from the same low quality issues that the "standard" cars did in GT5.

Yes, I'am happy.

In GT6, standard cars :

- look better than GT5
- can be used in Photo Mode
- can be used in Tuning Mode

Why delete them ? :)

I never said it was anything more than that.

Yeah, but didn't common sense tell you what I was trying to imply in my comparison between GT1/GT4 and GT4/GT5? What's the point in your post if it doesn't mean anything more than that if you truly get what I mean?

👍 I'm with you all day on that.

All day, everyday.

You state this as if it's a universal fact. It isn't.

In terms of graphics quality, the bad quality Standard models we’ve updated so they look better.

He mentions only updating the bad quality models, not all of them.

Yeah, but didn't common sense tell you what I was trying to imply in my comparison between GT1/GT4 and GT4/GT5?

Maybe. :P

Well... that could also imply all the standards, because as some say here, ALL the standard models were of bad quality, right?

I would say even if they did just update the bad quality ones that as a whole the standards would look better. Honestly there is only 2 or 3 of them that jumped out at me as being really bad of the ones I used anyway. The one that bugged me the most was the CLK DTM car

Seriously? How can you compare PS1 cars in GT4 to the standards cars in GT5?

Not an exact comparison sure, but a definite decline in quality! In GT4 EVERYTHING was improved! Surely you knew what I meant unless you were you being facetious?
