there is really someone better at it, Rick Perry and/or Scott Walker

You can't be serious.

Setting aside that...

he enjoyed the first surplus in Wisconsin's recent memory

...is a pretty shaky claim, there's plenty of indications that Walker's policies are harmful to Wisconsin.

During his first term as governor, Wisconsin's employment growth of 3.65% was less than two-thirds of the national average of 5.57% during the same period.

Worse, all of the employment growth that did happen was in the low-wage sector.

Real median household income in Wisconsin fell 1.39% from 2011-2014. The national average for that same time period was 0.09%.

Wisconsin's middle-class experienced the largest decline of any state between 2000-2013. (Yes, his predecessor shares the blame for that. But Walker's policies certainly haven't helped the situation, as the job growth numbers show.)

I, for one, have no interest in seeing him inflict similar damage onto the entire U.S. economy.

Here you are twisting my words again. I said that Walker got a surplus during the first year that he stripped public sector unions of collective barging rights. I never said that Walker had a surplus after his first term, a massive difference of three years.

*Underlined and bolded for emphasis.

Apologies. I read

As for Scott Walker, by removing the collective barging rights of teachers in his state, he enjoyed the first surplus in Wisconsin's recent memory year over year, thus being able to fight off a recall bid.]

as "year after year." Consider that one small part of my post retracted.

Now, care to address any of the rest of my post? First-year surplus aside, Walker has been terrible for Wisconsin's economy.

Do you know how many people in Wisconsin is actually a member of a public sector union? They had enough to sway a recall election (even though they lost) measure on the ballot, and when that didn't work, "talked" to a judge into delaying the law.

That being said, the state has an obligation to pay the retirement benefits of those workers, or else they can be sued for breech of contract. That is why Walker stripped the unions of collective barging rights, so that they can't be able to negotiate for more money and drain the state dry for the state has an constitutional obligation to balance the budget.

I never once mentioned the collective bargaining fiasco, so this has exactly nothing to do with anything I said.

You lauded the economic acumen of a man whose policies are objectively harmful to his state. I'm interested in hearing why you think he'd be a good leader for our entire nation.

I'm not saying he is, and this whole entire conversation is hijacked from the get go. All I'm saying that he is a better minded person, economically speaking, compared to Trump and Sanders, the former of which hasn't spoken a word about his economic policies.

AS A WHOLE, there are a lot better candidates out there. You just got to know where to look.

How so?

All I'm saying that he is a better minded person, economically speaking, compared to Trump and Sanders

Now you're just backpedaling. You could have thrown any names out there when you brought up Walker; that's the guy you brought up. I just played the ball.

Care to enlighten?

Fox have announced the line-up for their prime-time GOP debate, which comprises of the ten highest polling candidates only. The line-up is Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie and John Kasich. The other candidates will appear in a separate, shorter debate earlier in the evening.

I reckon at least half of the ten selected for the 'prime time' debate would rather be in the other one i.e. without Trump.

It's unbelievable that Mike Huckabee is in the debate. Isn't it obvious that he's only running for president to maintain his post-gubernatorial career as a so-con sponger?

Still, if the evangelicals have to roll their own, I'd rather it be him than Goopy Santorum.

But the good candidates will be waiting for Trump to open himself up to being made to look like an idiot.

They are probably hoping for a Rick Perry moment or full on off-the-cuff stupid comment, but the moment he shows a lack of knowledge I guarantee a few will jump on him immediately.

I would pay money to see Chris Christie body-slam Donald Trump.

But after his own latest comments I wouldn't be surprised to see Donald Trump form a tag team with Hulk Hogan, brother.

And Donald Trump has headlined WrestleMania. It's all falling into place...

Have to be careful with Christie around Trump...

I think this is the best run for the White House I've ever followed.

So much mudslinging so early on.

Love it. I need more popcorn.

This is good for TV really... and nothing else.
I've never taken any of these people serious, especially those who have run the last cycle. Maybe the Ohio gov. I'd like to see, and whatever the Dr. has to say, but everyone else is a big fat nope...

Except Trump, cuz he got his own 757..

You guys need a permanent translation. I don't care if he is really rich, his name is Donald Fart. That's reason enough to not pay attention to him even before he's opened his mouth.

I don't understand this level of sarcasm...

British English isn't American English.

Or am I missing the clue here?

The last time I ever saw the word "trump" as a synonym for "fart" must have been in the Beano.

Definitely still a Yorkshire thing, ask any child what trump means. And remember; if it's not Yorkshire it's *****.

 The BBC described Trump as being coated in a mix of Perma-tan and Teflon! Goes and says terribly un-PC things and his poll numbers go up and up...

Except Trump, cuz he got his own 757..

You should see the documentary they did about Trump's plane, he demands the Suede on the ceiling is brushed all in the same direction  I really do wonder if this is all just a plot to get a nicer plane :sly:

the Suede on the ceiling is brushed all in the same direction
Do you not know how annoying it is when you have suede not going the same direction???

Gahhd it's so annoying on my boots.

Anyways, the next president is supposed to receive the next 747-800 BBJ so he can just paint that black and red with TRUMP on the side of it.

To be fair the guy likes everything immaculate and spotless because he sees it as a reflection on your professionalism and I can appreciate that being somewhat a neatness kinda person myself.

Yeah brand new plane and he's going to make them get rid of the Air Force One livery and paint the damn thing with Trump on the side in gold  80's tastic!

If only he would do the same with his hair....

That's one too many asks of the pilot :sly:

Less POTUS and more flatus, amirite?

It's going to be hilarious.

President Trump.

The Simpsons were right. Again.

Trump is just going to make an ass out of himself at some point. The very second the other candidates remind people that Trump is filthy rich his popularity is going to go down.
