From what I've experienced from the new update, it gives a massive advantage to handling-oriented cars when using a controller. For instance, when practicing for Saturday's Nations Cup at Yamagiwa Reverse, I was over a second quicker in the Cayman GT4 than I was in my usual car, the Corvette. Yamagiwa is/was normally (for me anyway) a pretty unbiased track, so I'm fast no matter the car, as long as it's not a pain to drive. Suddenly, I can't hang with anyone in my Corvette, even on circuits that used to be neutral when it came to handling vs. speed.
I just tried the new "daily" race at Dragon Trail Seaside, which, from my experience, favored fast cars over handling ones, but was a track that I liked very well, so I used to be able to start and finish near the front in my Group 4 Corvette, which wasn't the fastest car on the straights, but was decently quick. Now I can't break out of mid pack, and it's a struggle to even crack the Top 10. I'll have to try it again with the Cayman GT4, but I'm betting it'll be noticeably faster again. The Corvettes were never the best at anything really in either Gr. 3 or 4, but they were/are decent enough in all categories to be competitive at most tracks (for me anyway). That doesn't seem to be the case anymore (again, using a controller). I guess the "solution" is easy enough (just pick handling-oriented cars), but for now this is probably the worst part of the update for me (maybe I'll get used to it after a few hours and be back to my normal pace relative to everyone else, but who knows?). For the record, I have over 100 wins in Sport Mode, and Yamagiwa and Dragon Trail Seaside are 2 of my best tracks (along with ovals).
