Project CARS 2 General Discussion Thread - Out Now on PS4/XB1/PC

That's weird, when I was doing the AOR 2 hour endurance races (about 2 months ago), I could the save the whole 2 hours no problem. Had you run out of space on your console/PC maybe?
Once in a while, the replay wouldn't function even after 5 minute races. The camera would just be focused on the starting grid with no cars. I could switch camera views, but no cars in sight.

Thought this may be interesting to someone:

"- They should make those Gr.C Le Mans spec car a selectable aerodynamic kit instead of a separate car

- They tried to, but it didn't work out because they couldn't restrict specific liveries to a certain aero kit. And the manufacturers are picky about which aero kit is shown with which livery."

For those of you who know for certain, is it still the case where the Thrustmaster TX 458 or other TX wheels have issues with button mapping (XB1)? I read that you are confined or limited to the number of buttons on the controller and the two can't work together therefore several PC1 button functions go unmapped?

Has there been a fix or workaround to this or is this still the case ?

Thanks in advance.

The issue with this will arise when you can only pick one Group C car to use for an entire Championship Series. You're stuck choosing either the Le Mans version or the "regular" model. This will create weird issues for when the Series is at Laguna Seca one week and Daytona the next. It will be poor usage of otherwise fantastic cars; ie a major facepalm moment. Hopefully there will be some contingency to correct this in Career Mode or Online Championship Series.

This same issue would occur in the IndyCar Series too, I assume.

One of the original features for PCars2 was 'banned race cars'. How many of the known cars could be described as 'banned'?

I need the Chaparral 2J as DLC!

Where did the Toyota GT86 go?
It is returning so don't worry. The GT86 is a terrific car as you really have to push it to extract the performance from it. In AC it is a wonderful car to drive too.

We have no info on career mode so we have no idea how that's gonna work. I'm pretty sure if you thought of it here they thought it there.

It all depends on if the car choice is locked in at the start of the Career or Online Championship or not. Hopefully not.

I'm pretty sure we'll be able to choose between the two in a series, or the choice will be automatic depending on the track.

Why the Ginetta G-57 is a Track day car? Fail?
No fail. Success!:)
http://www.ginetta.com/racing.php?championship=g57&tab=car
The Ginetta G57 is one of the fastest track day machines on the market. This gutsy prototype weighs in at under 900kgs and is powered by a fearsome Chevrolet-sourced LS3 6.3-litre V8 engine, developed in-house at Ginetta HQ. Suited to all level of driver grade, experience and ambition, it's the ultimate track day toy with eligibility to race in VdeV, Dutch Supercar and any open sportscar competition.

EDIT: Ignore me, I was wrong, the G57 is the G57-P2, it's a trackday car with performance close to LMP2 cars and is an evolution of the Ginetta LMP3 car.
The Ginetta G57 was originally built to 2017 LMP2 regulations. However, when Ginetta was not selected as one of the four chassis manufacturers (Dallara, Ligier, Riley and Oreca) they converted it to LMP3. Performance wise it is comfortably off LMP2.

EDIT Apologies, you were talking about the track day car.

im just going to say it, I hate that chassis/suspension squeak. Not because its bad, (i wouldnt really know what true chassis/suspension squeak sounds like) but i refuse to believe every single car sounds exactly the same. That really bugs me. It's like the same file put in on every race car, hopefully pc2 changes it up.

It was enjoyable enough in PCARS1, but with the new physics it should hopefully shine significantly brighter in PCARS2. :) The first game hobbled the ethos of its specifications with the physics issue that made it impossible to maintain oversteer properly, even in more powerful cars.

I have maintained oversteer in many a car in PCars. Directly into the wall/grass/sand or whatever happens to be trackside.

I'm really glad that being able to race multiple classes has stayed intact, and even improved. My favorite thing to do in PCARS 1 was racing Group C, LMP900, and modern LMP1s against each other, which unfortunately meant I had to deal with Group 6s, LMP2s, and the track-day prototypes in the way. Now it will be even better.

Could be nothing, but just wanted to throw this in here from ermo:

"I also hope you didn't miss the part where I stated that I think pC2 will be better after a patch or two after release? The guys over at SMS are in final crunch, committing stuff at all hours and generally working their backsides off, and though I have the greatest respect for their efforts, I'd personally prefer to give them an extra month or two to sort out the fine details and whatnot...

(But then again, I'm on the conservative side when it comes to estimates, so who knows?)"

Just hope he is referring to very fine details and nothing like controller bugs and such. Anyway, I'm in it for the long haul but hope people don't expect perfection from day 1.

Noone should expect perfection if they read what Ian Bell typed in the Q&A. Greatness, yes. Perfection, when we get those "cool" DLC cars on the way. ;)
