Yeah, and PCars, to me, wasn't really a full sim racer tbh, you had Asseto Corsa or iRacing which in terms of physics, following my acknowledge, are far superior than PCars. I'm glad that SMS will take the approach of giving a more arcade gameplay, too! I used to have a lot of fun with NFS Shift.
Couldn't have said it any better myself! 👍 I feel pCARS should be more on the lines of Forza and GT; two of which are fun games imo.

I really liked the first NFS Shift back in 2009 as well. The only problem I had was the handling, but everything else was perfect. With PC3, I imagine SMS can finally hit that sweet spot in terms of fun, especially with the EVO guys on the team. I'm hoping this game will be successful, and not fail just because some people find it arcade-y.

All those tracks to explore. This is a CarRPG adventure right here! :D

Pardon my ignorance, but what does CarRPG mean? The only meaning I know for RPG is Rocket Propelled Grenade!
RPG is also short for Role Playing Game, where games like Skyrim, Runescape, and The Witcher fall under IIRC
CaRPG means that you basically go through the journey of a racing driver, but you must start from the bottom and work your way up, getting credits/cash and XP unlocking better items (in this case cars) along the way?

The Porsche 935 in the trailer has the Porsche 70 logo on the side making me think it's the new version 935 rather than the old

Obviously new, old one has different spoiler, as major difference, also body shape and headlights. Safe to say they very different, to not be sure.

As long as you're not required to do that then I'll be ok with it being in the game.

right, take everything that set it apart and make another forza “drift everything including race cars” clone because a game can only have true iracing physics or trash forza physics. If you like forza play that but it sucks we go from something with promise and uniqueness and trash it

I did not say that. I said I "feel" pCARS should be on the same line as GT and Forza on "fun" factor. Not "take everything away and make it Forza 2.0." What a way to put words in month.....

Something I just thought about the pit lane being closed is we have to consider they may close it for some races in career mode, which of course is less realistic ( I think ? ) but I guess it's understandable and would make sense as to why it's closed in this gameplay, we might just be able to close it and that's it. I really don't see them removing it at all from the game, it doesn't make sense if the physics and FFB really is still like a sim. The reason the fuel gauge is missing from the hud might just be because in the career some races have it disabled so there is no reason to show it there, this being said I don't quite understand why tyre temps are missing.

My perspective on this game is they still have in it the sandbox that was pcars 2 but added on top of this a career layer and improved the ffb and physics from pc2. If it indeed is true ( and I'm taking this from Ian's twitter account ) then it's gonna be for me the perfect mix between a sim and an arcade racing game, but that's only if it indeed is true and not some marketing BS. What I'm worried is if they downgraded some aspects of it, we didn't see livetrack in these 2 footages and trailers, nor did we see the seasonal changes or how deep is the customization, so either they didn't show it to appeal to the more casual audience or it indeed is downgraded from pcars 2 or even not present at all.

I also secretly hope we'll see some drifting events and various fun game modes in multiplayer :D

Press F to pay respects to rallycross tracks in Project CARS.

I've done several rallycross events with friends and they were a heap of fun. Stupid choice to remove it completely.

Also, I can't believe we're having a debate about the pit entry. Who cares if it's closed off? Admit it, most of the races probably won't go long enough to warrant a pit stop, and if pitting is necessary, I'm pretty sure they'll be open.

The discussion about the pit entry goes beyond the entry itself. No game that's had a closed pitlane has allowed pitting with the Grid series being the clearest example. As somebody who enjoyed doing online league races in series ranging from LMP endurance to IndyCar and GTs, it gives off a feeling that there won't be the variables that go hand in hand with pitting such as fuel and tyre degradation. With the lack of clear answers in this area, people are concerned it will essentially be a Grid/Shift sequel than a PCARS sequel.

While I haven't put a lot of hours into either of the first 2 iteration in the series, just looking at this trailer, at first glance it feels like they are somewhat stepping away from what they were going for in the first 2 games. Either way, I plan on buying it. I just hope it won't be like PC2. Maybe it was just me but I did find PC2 really challenging to handle and spent more time being frustrated at the game rather than having fun and enjoying it. As a result, I just gave up on it.

All the marketing talk so far said the game it is going to be as accessible to any skill level, what are the chances pit stop has became a difficulty option. Dumb it down to the lowest difficulty with max assists will have the pits straight up close to avoid newcomers randomly driving into it for a 2 lap race.

I think that in a game in which a car of more than a ton and running at more than 200 km/h starting to brake on the 50 meters plate in Interlagos is able to brake almost completely is not a very promising sign, but yeah, is very accessible, even my grandma can play..

The AI can do that now in PC2. It's generally at the end of long straights but their braking point is about 50 meters ahead of where mine is. And it's not like they've overshot it and just fly off track, they make the corner normally but if you're in front of them, you're the one getting punted off track as they try to go right through you. The super hero level AI braking and cornering ability is one thing I really hoped would be eliminated in PC3 but with the game taking a more arcade turn it doesn't appear it's going away anytime soon.

Err...Project CARS 2. For example, Leipzig Short and Knockhill RX. Can this rest now, until it's confirmed there are no pitstops?

I have been keeping myself away from the fire for my own (and yours) sanity, but I wonder:

Why did SMS/Codemasters/Bandai decide to surprise us with a short video, AND not elaborate more after the wild fire they have set...?!?

The reactions they received is probably not what they are expecting, And it probably caught them offhand.

Which could explain fairly well their silence right now...
Especially if their plans was to simply drop a quick bone to us to keep us on our toes, expecting good reactions to igniting desires, then drop more when much closer to the release date...

Unfortunately there is a 65% negative reactions...
They really should address the concerns.

If they have the goods, why don't they show us more ?

Don't they want to sell the game to the most gamers as possible? By the looks of things, yes that's their intent but they are doing it in a way thats alienating their core fans....

What kind of marketing department do they have?

There are several good racing games coming out soon, people are trying to figure out which to buy first or hold out...

If they want people to commit to buying this game over any others, they would be smart to show how this game can be the one to own them all...

This task would be very simple if they have the goods...

I think it is the standard marketing tactic, dump a trailer and slowly drip feed details for weeks/months, Dirt 5 is doing the same thing and at this point we still have no idea are we having a normal rally event in it or not.

That's not an equivalent comparison. A better comparison would have been a preview version where they showed the Ferrari GT3 at Algarve where the pits were closed which didn't happen which is why people are on edge.

To clarify, I meant games which had pitlanes closed on all circuits such as Grid Autosport, 2019 and Shift. These included GP circuits such as Barcelona and Sepang. Not a few red herrings like there were in PCARS2 which didn't set the trend.

I copied this detail off Amazon which lists the PS4 game at £54.99 with December 25th date (presumably a placeholder):

Please note: Originally we had decided to delay this announcement to cede the floor to more important matters. Regrettably, the trailer for Project CARS 3 went live last night despite all our efforts of keeping it under wraps. Since the surprise is now gone, we're sharing the trailer with you.

Interesting.

Regrettably?

A very simple answer is that they didn't actually intend for that video to drop when it did, the entire marketing campaign had been moved back due to world events, however, the Playstation channel either didn't get the memo or forgot and dropped the video on us.

As such the marketing department at Namco now has t play catch-up and to a degree damage limitation.

Thing is though, if PC2 had issues on the base Xbox & PS4 because of the cpu limitations & they haven't taken anything away from PC3 regarding the underlying physics, it's still going to have issues on the base consoles, meaning you'll need an X or pro to run it properly again, (which most people have probably got now tbh).

I'm on a 1X so I never experienced any of this btw.

Surprised this isn't a next gen launch game, but I'm sure it'll be upgraded for them at some point.

I never heard about any issues with CPU on base PS4 (i am on base PS4) ...

I only heard that first Xbox had physics issues.

I thought it was both regarding to many cars on track either in the night or during thunderstorms, my mistake.
