Ricky has always been a HUGE FAN of PC2

You notice they switched of the horrible HUD as it proves that's the only hud in the game and its got lots of complaints so it was just switched off for the video. It gonna be use the garrish new hud or switch it off. The customisation options will just be move it around or switch parts off

Also I thought that new corvette he's driving was paddle shift? The driver is changing gears with stick

You guys make good observations of things I don't pick up on.

I did not like the HUD on the early videos because it looked a little cartoonish and arcade. Obviously, I'm used to the HUD on PC2

I'm going to hold on to hope that there might be multiple styles of HUD available to pick from?

Isn't that the C7?

They've literally ripped Interlagos from F1 2019.

It was only after reading your post that I realized that this is easily done since they’re under the same umbrella now.

It’s not a bad thing is it?

Ian Bell has confirmed that it is NOT the same, they've made it from scratch.

You notice they switched of the horrible HUD as it proves that's the only hud in the game and its got lots of complaints so it was just switched off for the video.

You will notice that literally every aid was turned off in that video for maximum "sim feeling". It doesn't prove anything at all.

I’m really hoping there’s the option to do full race weekends rather than being restricted to short races. Even though I welcome that it could be more forgiving for controller players and have various options for driving aids, me personally would still love to be able to do full race weekends with practice, qualifying and a longer race. Even on F1 2019 they allow the option to do 25%, 50% or 100% length races so hope they give us the option to change it for PC3 and not be restricted on short sprint races only.

I would be unhappy if there are no pit stops.
I want a real experience with a ton of simulation features that allows you to be immersed in a race and not running over gold coins for points. Don't know what a "gen" is because we use PC's with triple screens., direct drive wheels and button boxes. Pcars 2 would have been a better game if it had more features. This is how we used Pcars 2 so it would be nice to be able to do the same things and even more.

See how that works?
Fine, differentemente tastes. Playing only offline pc2 was full of bugs and issues making career mode really annoying.

Different tastes. You will wait for pcars4, this time they made a different game and i am happy with it. Moreover with your triple screen pc you can run way better games, actually with automobilista 2 you can basically already run the pcars3 you wanted.

Are you serious? Surely not? Career without Practice or Qualifying? And no flag system in the game? Even GT and Forza have them.
The street tracks with no pit-lanes doesn't surprise me, the road courses in PCARS 1 and 2 didn't either.

Assuming you're talking about the Gamespot interview, which I haven't seen yet, that is very bad news.

EDIT: I have seen it now. And at 06:05 minute they state: "It's less about being championship based, less race weekend based, less calendar based. It's more about skipping from track to track".
I'm just getting more and more disappointed. How do you proclaim you're still a sim and change your focus so much?

Nice, it is shift 3. It will be fun.
Only hope they do not put in too many fictional city tracks or point to point racing but they will.

They've literally ripped Interlagos from F1 2019.

You know that Ian Bell was saying that they aquired license for this track months before Pcars 2 was out? You really think they were making it in last months after Codemasters take over? This is new track, and even if it was ripped off whats the problem if it is good?

I am still worried with those pit-stops. I hope i won't be disappointed.

I know, but allow myself to doubt the words of people like Mr. Bell after what happened in previous games.

Until we have the game we will not know completely, for now we will have to draw conclusions with the videos they have released.

I wholeheartedly agree, and I doubt Ian Bell alongside you. However other guys commenting have faith, especially Rushy.

Guys, the game we knew is gone, in fact it's back to what it was, a new Shift, that's it.
You’ve played it then!

Didn’t think so, so it’s not a fact at all, it’s an assumption.

It proves nothing at all, I have my PC2 set up to switch between my standard HUD and no HUD on a button on my button box, doesn’t mean those are the only options on PC2.

Speculation being posted as if it’s fact or proof is rampantly out of control in this thread.

I'm only a peripheral observer of the PCARS series (tested it side by side against AC back in 2016, no guesses which I end up buying), so I'll keep this short. Honestly I'm really surprised SMS went back to Shift style gameplay. PCARS1/2 has its problems but I can still see the appeal and the honest attempt at making a sim. Shift series is just pure garbage. Probably the worst physics in a AAA racing game, second only to NFS 2015. S2U was the only NFS game I never bought in the whole franchise because of how bad S1 was. I don't know if it's Codemasters pushing them in this direction to replace GRID, or they're holding back on "hardcore mode", or maybe Reiza pushed them into a corner with AMS2 and they didn't want to compete for the same space. Who knows? But if you look at the sales numbers, I bet PCARS2 by itself outsold the last 3 GRID games combined. Not a bright future for SMS...

Its been confirmed with an interview with the developers on YouTube that career races will have no practice or qualifying, it will be short races just like grid.

Also looks like the flag system is gone, and the new tracks Shanghai, Havana, Amalfi will no pit lanes either

This is hard to believe. They must give you the option like the other games? I really hope this isn’t their way of appealing to the lowest common denominator.

SMS haven't said they've changed the handling and made it feel like an arcade game. They're still calling it a sim, and my bet it has the same kind of handling as the previous 2 games (for better or worse).

I was concerned after seeing the first trailer, but now am sure it's going to feel like pCARS2, although hopefully more refined.

I only really do custom events or race weekends and I'd be surprised if we can't do that again this time around. There's a lot of panic and speculation around now, lots of negativity mainly, but I don't believe we're looking at a simpler driving model or arcade-style driving. It just doesn't make sense. I'm looking forward to finding out more.

I assume they are not going back to Shift for the physics aspect but for lots of other fun things gameplay wise.

^this...

Coming back to Shift's Career mechanics is a good thing. I barely touched career in PC2. But i hope it will still have this Sandbox appeal for other players. It will be good that we can have both of this worlds.

That new "full sim" gameplay video has me sold.

Drifting looks a lot more manageable. I always found it a bit difficult in PC2. Drifting shouldn't be hard. The "consolidated" physics are definitely visible in that video. Apparently the car had some upgrades and was tuned to be slidey - for drifting.

Also, I found a comment from the original uploader of that video concerning visuals - "All of the stuff like motion blur, field of view, camera movement, etc, can be configured in the options menu." So, just like PC2. Perfect! 👍

There was also another comment he made after reading all the complaints which claim the car slides around too much... - "Today I learned sliding a car around is arcade." I completely understand the exasperation in that comment. I can't believe some people think drifting is not possible in a simracer. They'll find every little thing to complain about, but ignore all the good things.

Honestly all the hate and "eugh it's an arcade game" assumptions were caused by the gamepad showcase with full assists, and a fun-oriented trailer instead of the usual "epic, grandiose simracing" style trailers of the previous titles... It's easier to hate than to love, apparently, because it's more controversial... Have some faith!

Certain videos on YouTube certainly aren't helping. I saw one earlier titled "Codemaster's the scourge of sim racing". Ansolutely laughable that people think Codemasters have had any REAL hand in this. PC3 has been in development for 3 years. We know they were working on it prior to PC2 launch and Codemasters only acquired them what, 6 months ago? Ian Bell said back in 2018 it was gonna be more a spiritual successor to Shift so I'm perplexed as to how any of this has surprised anyone.

Videos like that are just inciting and feeding the trolls who don't have a clue what they're talking about. And its also creating that toxic 'casuals are ruining sims' SIM enthusaist crap which really grinds my gears.

Might just have to ignore this forum until after the game has launched, the only thing thats gonna kill my excitement and enjoyment for this game are the people here. :(

I’m optimistic. Looks like what I’ve been missing from the pCARS series. Looking forward to hearing more about the career mode and car customization options.

@IanBell I found the previous games to run poorly on the standard PS4 at times. Will we be able to choose our preferred frame rate (30 vs. 60fps)?

For me, the lack of true campaign is the problem of every modern simulation. The last one is the F1 serie.

I would see a true system like in the 1st GRID game or GT saga.

Forza tries to make it but it's very arcade in the system (you have credits but it's an unlock by win system).

Even the car customising is not well implemented in Forza.

For me, the perfect game could be the GT2 carrer mod and car customisation, the content and gamepad gestion of Forza 7, the physics of assetto corsa and the immersive of F1 2019.

I don't think it will be real one Day because the multiplayer content is more developped than the solo now...

If the game is genuinely really nice to play on controller, I guess it’s time for me to hop in.

I tried PC2 multiple times and only very recently began to enjoy it after countless attempts at finding decent settings for the controller (thanks @Suzumiya), if I can hop right into PC3 with no fiddling with settings and it retains the sim-like gameplay along with more customisation, it’s a winner to me

Looks like a arcade game to me!? I don’t want to buy it. After the last DLC for PC2 there was no support, no update and no new content to the game. It was dead. Waste of money...

Considering this game is being launched in the same window as Assetto Corsa Comptizione on console and F1 2020 I can't see this game doing well at all. Plus new Forza etc comes out later in the year. The design choices of this game and the window its being launched in, I can see this being a bigger flop than GRID was
