What's the deal with Scheduled races? Every time I try one I qualify and then the race never happens as there's no one to race against...

No online players. I was lucky only once to find anyone for scheduled race, otherwise all my other qualifications were just waste of time.

Also how does the racing license work?
I got rammed off the track in an online lobby of 4 and there's was a down red arrow

Racing license points are being deducted even if you're being pushed (or rammed) off the track by someone else.

The custom lobby filter for Racing Licenses currently doesn’t work anyway, as low ranked players can join lobbies supposedly locked off to higher ranked players (on Xbox anyway).

Most people are clean on Xbox regardless but it would be nice to see that fixed in a future update.

I got the game in late December and tried maybe 3 or 4 scheduled races, and only one happened, so I don't enter them any longer. For a quick fix without having to wait for a scheduled race, you could try the quick matching option (forget the name - it is the one on the left anyway). Again the player base is very low. After a similar experience in these during my first couple of weeks of playing (2 to 3 players at best; 1 or 2 often drop out), I stopped, but had a go again last night, thinking the uptick in users I've been seeing in Rivals might have spilled over into the lobbies. I had maybe ten or 15 goes; 2 or 3 times no lobby was found; 1 race had 5 entries (which provided some light relief when two guys dropped out once they realised their mistake had cost them considerable time; at Donnington they overshot Goddards - the final hairpin - got confused and instead of going down the start-finish straight, went in the other direction); 2 or 3 races had 3 entries; the rest were all two entries, and maybe 3 or 4 of those the other driver dropped out either before we even started, or during the race. The rest were me an one American driver rated 99A doing a few 'races' - he was way quicker than me.

In theory you gain points for driving well (safely as well as keeping to the racing line, not going off track, etc. i.e., racecraft) and lose points for making mistakes (again safety and racecraft). But as you saw, you lose points for being rammed. Two good things in that respect about PC3 versus say GTS:
1) Being rammed from behind rarely forces me off the road; I often only know I was rammed because of the 'racing licence down' notice and the other driver's dot 'merging' with mine on the map. In GTS the billiards ball effect is far stronger.
2) The down red arrows' effect on your safety rating is not severe. I've had a few races in a row where overall (you get a summary at the end) my safety rating has gone down (being rammed; going off track on my own, etc.), but I've remained in C. I guess this is because the net effect is smaller than the red arrows you get shown, because some of those are cancelled by 'mastering' corners, hitting high speed, leading sectors, etc. I also had a few races where I saw 2 or 3 down red arrows, but my safety rating went up.

I tried a scheduled race (once), it was Road A at Daytona Road course and it actually took place. The racing was what I expected and typical of most online racing from the 5 people that showed up; a cluster into turn one followed by beating and banging around the infield section. Then everyone spread out with huge gaps, one person runs away with the lead, and finally most everyone quits when they realize they can’t win. Started 5th of 6th, finished 2nd of 2. Got the achievement, won’t bother again.

I was thinking if pad controls are "broken" (for me) on Xbox only so I bought PS version too :D And yes, it's completely the same. I thought so but it's always better to be sure. It must be some cool helper for ppl who can't use pad because it's so visible to me.

Did you finally reported this?

Not yet, what is the best way? But I couldn't find anybody who can see it. That's odd. I moved from PC2 to PC1 and I am very happy now. PC3 is probably for different audience and the helper maybe makes sense to them?

Bear in mind that the pad handling changes could very well be intentional and not a bug. I know from your posts you like the pad to feel a particular way, though it seems you're in the minority on that direction. Some more adjustability would be nice but for most people I think pad handling's fine.

Thanks! Exactly. That's the reason I didn't report it. It's sad I can't play the game but nobody else cares so it's some kind of design. Why not. But old settings would be nice. I love drifting without any helpers because you can be very precise. For instance, speed sensitivity is good if you have nervous thumb but you don't wan't different sensitivities if you need to be precise. And Forza has different rules for counter-steering than steering so you need to learn its rules first. I know better what I want and options are always good.

We had the same conversation a week or two ago.

Been hesitant to try this but just grabbed it on ebay for £13, hoping it keeps me entertained for a couple of weeks in this new lockdown im in... Any idea how big the install size is for the game with updates? Any early tips would be appreciated too.

On my PS4 the install size is 40.4Gb. There was a hefty patch that was needed even with the disk version.

Tips. Hmm... Don't dive straight into the career mode, back out and have a few custom races to get a better feel for the game. The early career races can seem a bit rough and tumble until you get used to it. It'll also give you a chance to adjust any settings to your liking. And try Rivals mode, that's addictive.

In practice mode you can do any car/track/time/weather combination, and all cars are unblocked.

I found some Youtube videos from Pcars 3 races and I was surprised that grids in those races were consistent. I mean mainly GT3/GTE cars, or only GT4 cars. Did SMS managed to repaired this stupid random grids or it was just pure luck on those videos?

Pure luck I'm afraid as there was a discussion recently on Discord about it which has ended in a ban for one of the users :D One of the mods said that here are no plans to change this so late in the game lifespan.

Its a better game than I thought it would be a bit on the easy side, played it without the patch at first... that was a grim first build with those flickering menu's lol

@evldave333 -- Oh man, the on-disc version is garbage. I've about had it with physical copies not being worth keeping for preservation, which is one thing pushing me to PC + Nintendo. If downloads are going to be so necessary, I might as well buy fancy multi-platform titles on PC then, where downloads are the norm but I get autonomy over the files.

It seems deadlines trump quality assurance these days... even Gran Turismo Sport was a mess day 1 and that's a big money dev team too...

I tested PC3 today but it's really impossible to play it to me (it's reported already). At least I try it from time to time if it's me or the game. Still it's unbelievable no more people have the same problem. Friend of mine ordered PC3 today so I will ask him later. But he's rather beginner so I told him the game could be very good for him.

First 20 minutes with pc3 on my ps4pro were OK
Its surprisingly decent

That's the thing, potential purchasers may well have been put of by the initial internet outrage that gave the impression that the game is rubbish. It may not be the motorsports simulation that many thought they were going to get but it's still a damn good driving/racing game. It's become my daily driver. :)

stupid random grids
Yes and no. Coming from PC2 I initially thought it was odd, but I've changed my mind.

If you're looking for a full on motorsports recreation, as mentioned above, then the mixed grids can be jarring. But the game isn't that.

If you just want a fun jump in and go racing game then the slightly eclectic grids really aren't so bad. In fact there's a benefit to them. In a grid full of the same type of cars they would have similar performance. The cars in a mixed grid can have varying performance and abilities so give a different challenge. I've had some good battles between slower but manoeuvrable vs faster but more wayward cars.

That said I wish there was a custom car picker to recreate those motorsports moments when you wanted it. But there isn't so I get on with it. The game is what you make of it.

I agree my friend.....as I have said before in previous posts..... to many people just focus on what they perceive as negatives .....ignoring the many great features of the game..

When often it is just a case of their own personal preferences not being accommodated by the developer.......which in my opinion is to be expected...

I am not sure here. If you take first one and second one you know exactly what third one should look. Is it a good game after patches? Sure! Is it a good Project cars game? No! Even intro is completely off.

And if somebody switched from 2 to 3 it's very interesting but main reason is PC3 is not bad racing game.

Pad users may have a different experience.

Using a good ffb wheel. The game's vehicle handling has the best ffb in the series. TBH, the best ffb that I have felt in any game across a lot of vehicles. Each one has their own individual characteristics and to me, SMS has done a outstanding job with the SETA tire modeling to have the vehicles drivable like they are in the rain.

SMS isn't getting the credit for pushing things to make the other sims catch-up to a proper tire modeling behavior.

They take this PC3 handling model and place it back into something similar to PC2. Things will be interesting!

Er yes, I tend to agree, mostly. Generally everything seems more lively and enjoyable. The slightly tail happy nature under braking of some cars takes a little getting used to. But you can both adjust the settings and adapt your driving to suit.

A little anecdote. A friend of mine runs Assetto Corsa races once a week, which I often join in with. When I regularly played PC2 I had trouble adjusting to AC's physics, it took me a good few laps. But now I'm playing much more PC3 I find I can jump in and be fairly competitive straight away. Now AC is often quoted to be among the best for car handling, so...

No, you assume what the 3rd one should be like. And that's where a "Revolution" in the title might have gone a long way to prevent the backlash. That was a slightly strange decision. Perhaps the revolution is coming!

No, it's like TLOU2 again :D If you have some series you need to hold the course. PC1 is awesome game, PC2 some things improved and PC3 had a chance to build on these masterpieces. Like I said I can recommend the game as a racing game but I can't a as a PC game. It's just not there, the content is the same, some good stuff too but it's not PC. It's just different series and that's fine.

Tell that to SquareEnix with Final Fantasy, please, because they've gone past left field, departed the ballpark, and crossed international borders since FFIX. :P
