If I can break into this rather pointless spat.

PC2 (and I suspect also PC3) is quite different with audio output to tactile units depending on if they are fed via an LFE channel or a 'regular' audio channel.
Ah yes this is true. I've not had a problem with PC2's sound although many have said it's lacking in certain areas. I suspect those with regular audio may benefit more from the increased clunks and thumps that PC3 seems to generate. The gear change is very loud in some cars. Not so the engine!

but the engagement (in lobbies) now is in the single digits,
That's because they are all playing Rivals. There's regularly a large number of entrants on the leadership tables,1000s sometimes. I think SMS probably didn't realise how popular that would be, to a certain extent it's drawn people away from the other online modes.

Anyway carry on chaps...

You're interrupting, my lack of experience in driving. Because, others know it all and want to derail a thread. My knowledge no matter what, exceeds yours.

It is. If you could toggle the "ghosts" on and off when you wanted, it would be better still. Sometimes they can be a right pain to see through/around.

And if the ghosts deleted themselves off your hard drive after use that would be good too.

Three AI is too many. They can interfere with braking points.

toggle the "ghosts" on and off

A crude workaround is to not go out all the way once you are in a Rivals event. That way the first set of ghosts (usually very slow ones - I think of them as the orange one from PacMan) remain the ones you race against [ EDIT: despite the name and time in the top left changing]. For someone of your pace, that would usually mean after at worst a couple of attempts they will not be an issue; more likely if you know the track, you'll beat them easily from the off. The downside is that should you get a systems crash, which as you know I get sometimes, you lose the XP, credits and car discounts gained up to that point. But your best time is recorded and remains valid. Half-full; half-empty.

Using a good ffb wheel. The game's vehicle handling has the best ffb in the series. TBH, the best ffb that I have felt in any game across a lot of vehicles.
For sure this is a joke, from my side of view the FFB is absolutely non informative it has some immersion but that has nothing to do with informative feedback from the car.

3 is fine at the beginning because they tend to get spread out. But when you get ghosts close to your ability they are all on top of each other jostling for position on your screen.

Have a word @Konan ;)
A toggle would help greatly. Since there's not so much to map in PC3 I've got plenty of free buttons.

Yep @half_sourly, indeed. You can on occasions glitch the system not to load the ghosts. When the next 3 rivals section goes blank on the main screen it's time to press go. I've tried to sort out a sequence of events that causes this - without success so far, my results are rather sporadic.

This response is a joke! Another person trying to derail the thread from anything positive.

Once again you do not get to police the responses here.

If you do not agree with a member then say so (within the AUP), if you feel it breaks the AUP then report it, but nothing in the AUP states that members must be positive about any title. They are not 'derailing anything, they are posting their view.

You aren't doing the same?

Policing responses?

Yes, I am, as a moderator here that's exactly what I do when needed.

So once again, do not attempt to shut down what you think of as 'negative' comments here at GT Planet, as I said "If you do not agree with a member then say so (within the AUP), if you feel it breaks the AUP then report it"

You aren't derailing the thread from anything positive about PC3? I think, you need to take another looks at your postings.

Some of us are trying to have a positive conversation and don't need ridiculous uninformed posts of negativity.

Ok Mr.Realworld. Here is my thought. The game is garbage. Period, end stop. Now if you think that is derailing your thought process and thread so be it. Would you like to post up what your real world credentials are that translate into a video game? Especially this video game. There is nothing real world about this game.

You miss the point entirely.

You don't get to decide what commentary, positive or negative, is appropriate here, you don't get to decide if a thread is being 'derailed' or not.

That's determined by the site owner and the staff, as such if you are not happy with that, then maybe GT Planet is not the place for you. what you will do, immediately, is stop attempting to shut down and censor others views. It's not open for debate or discussion.

So, I can't say anything positive about PC3 without getting shut down. It's not open to debate or discussion. So is this the kind of site that gtplanet wants to run? A toxic site for a sim racing community?

But, this type of post is ok? Scaff

The game is very far from perfect so it's possible you can find something negative here too :D If brakes are magical, something is not right from sim perspective too.

So, I can't say anything positive about PC3 without getting shut down.
What?

People disagreeing with you is not "getting shut down". It's discussion.

This is not a "say only positive things" thread. Nor is it a "say only negative things" thread. It's a general discussion thread; there is room for both, and points in-between.

So is this the kind of site that gtplanet wants to run? A toxic site for a sim racing community?
A site where the only permissible views are those of the people in charge (or the majority view) is toxic. A site where all views on the topic are permitted and encouraged is not.

If you want an echo-chamber of exclusive positivity, make a thread for it and don't view any others. Alternatively, if we're too "toxic" a site for you, there's a thread for exactly that on the official PC forums.

So, it's ok for people to try shutting me down here at the gtplanet. Some here are trying to have a positive conversation, but anything positive about PC3 is pure ridiculousness!

Not what I said at all.

It's not open to debate or discussion. So is this the kind of site that gtplanet wants to run? A toxic site for a sim racing community?
If you believe allowing both positive and negative views to be aired is toxic, then I guess we are guilty as charged, but with 20 years under our belt I think we are getting the balance right.

But, this type of post is ok? Scaff
Once again, use the report button.

That's ok, that's not trying to stop the conversation?
That is correct, yes.
So, it's ok for people to try shutting me down here at the gtplanet.
Again, you're viewing a dissenting opinion as you being "shut down". How can someone with absolutely no ability to prevent you from posting your views shut you down?

They can't. They're just disagreeing with you. That happens, and it's allowed.

Some here are trying to have a positive conversation, but anything positive about PC3 is pure ridiculousness!
Nobody is stopping you from posting these positive things. People can disagree if they want, but so what? Ignore them if you really can't handle dissent, and carry on being positive if that's what you want.

We're not going to enforce positivity or negativity on anyone. It's a general discussion thread. I've already told you what alternatives there are.

Take one of them, or don't. But this stops here.

Nobody is trying to shut you down. Many people on here actually defended Ian Bell, myself included in previous versions of the franchise. The game is not what was advertised. Your the one stating you have real world experience. Would you like to elaborate on your experience? This is not Twitter or Facebook. People can actually have an opinion on here. You should go look at your previous posts. Last time I checked, tire wear, fuel usage is a real world thing that affects a cars handling on a "race track"

I think you can surely say something positive about any game over here. Just don't expect that everyone agrees with you.

I knew that when I posted my positive experience with pc3, several people would disagree. That's fine. OK, sometimes it can be a bit harsh. Try to ignore the negative comments. Don't respond immediately, or at all.

@GTsimms , I see that you are a mod on pcars discord. How do you handle negative comments there? I know that Fernando can be quite harsh on his social media responses. It was almost too much for me to hand them the cash. But still I was interested in PC3 enough to get it this week. And I love it.

I do miss the abs and slip indicators in the gauge in pc3. It seems that even with all aids turned off, there is abs and some traction control.
