I think its Project Cars Go released not on mobiles but console and pc in order to fulfill the contract with Bandai Namco as a final Hurrah on current gen using a few new faces in the development team that have now gone.

Meanwhile that frees up some of the team and Codies to be quietly working on a full next gen beast of a game which is what we come to expect from SMS.

And in doing so you are applying a double standard

By that logic, I am supposed to have a neutral sentiment towards everything until I get the chance to try it out myself, right?

Marketing must be a waste of time and money.

That's my tin foil hat theory as well. But would also just backup the fact SMS has been blowing smoke up the bums of the people who want to support them, and want their games to be as good as they potentially can be. I think expecting a 'true' pCars2 sequel with CM at the helm is a bit far fetched, but one can hope.

I don’t see how this could be a mobile game turned into PC/console port given that it supports VR.

It would suit Codemasters perfectly to be fair. Grid for the fun action oriented game, pCars for the full sim. Wouldn’t surprise me if the reaction in Codies HQ is similar to others in being in the negative side as it’s flying closer to Grid than perhaps was expected.

I would be willing to bet if we see another pCars game it will be a full sim and have all the features that would be expected from a sim.

It's the same engine isn't it? I mean, I'm not a dev, but if you build a game in an engine that supports VR that doesn't mean you have to enable VR. Have you heard news about pCarsGo recently?

My tin foil hat theory is that this WAS going to be an arcade-centered spin-off with the pCARS Revolution title, but Bandai Namco put SMS under pressure to release it as a mainline title.

I am going to take the game and get my own opinion vs RL which most of these YouTubers don't have!

Basing your opinion by a YouTuber beating the AI in a modded car. Then at another track gets his rear handed to him and that facial expression, EPIC.

That seems a lot more plausible.

That could be for some engines, not sure it’s the case here as it’s SMS’s own engine. I don’t think they targeted mobile with it since the beginning.

No, you can either buy into a bias or take on board both side without dismissing one out of that bias.

Typically, when a content creator is given a code they’re not told “you must say nice things only”. They’re also not paid unless you see a disclaimer (legal requirement on every social media platform).
There may not be an explicit "you must like this game" but if overly negative, game publishers wouldn't give you a pre-release code as you'd be deemed to harm their sales. I'm sure this is also how content creators would perceive it. Broadbent went into how that these streams bring in viewers for his channel and saying overly negative things might impact that.

If I remember correctly, it was TRL Limitless who wasn't invited to Codemasters events for the F1 games for a similar reason.

Essentially it’s usually a case of “here is the code, here is some info about the game, here is the embargo timing, and enjoy”.
You missed the potential talking points. Examples for this game from Broadbent's stream are "Custom Events" and "Gamepad Handling."

I'm sure this is true. GamerMuscle, although he is the biggest AC fan and a Kunos fan, has dared to criticise ACC. It was noticeable that he was left out of the group of YouTubers granted pre-release access to the GT4 dlc, many of whom had far fewer subscribers than GM.

I watched quite some gameplay tonight.

I like the track design and the flow of the tracks, but the graphics look very bad in my opinion. Also the AI looks bad just wandering around the racingline with sometimes very strange looking actions.

GRID of 2019 looks better on Xbox one X in my opinion.

I'm honestly conflicted.

Part of me is happy that SMS is making a Project Cars game where they cater to what I want in the game aspect of a simish racing game. Some customization and a classic "zero to hero" type of career mode. However, with pontentially better driving physics than Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo. I like that there's an expansion on the GT4 class even.

However, the loss of content I enjoyed from the 2nd Project Cars (option for GTE & 3 versions of cars, spa & La Sarthe axed), losing the proper class system, endurance racing options (pitstops, tire wear, etc), and pontentially even the ability to create my own custom races keeps me from going all-in.

I think I might actually wait for the sale this time. Which is a shame as I bought the first two games full-price and all of the dlc.

BN isn't this kind of publisher, especially if put on something hardcore. Worth to mention BN had mentioned PC only once recently, unlike CM that had adopted PC and already threatens game like their own.

Threaten isn’t quite the word here

Yeah that dude sucks at driving but i must say i really like that track :D
Looks like the classic case of not knowing how to drive an electric race car.

Because of the regen the rear is very sensitive under braking so if you slam it like an F1 it’s like yanking a handbrake. In the real sport the drivers are only on full throttle till halfway down the straight, then they coast to regen and finally brake near the apex.

In most racing games, keeping a *little* throttle applied while braking stabilises the car.

Codemasters have had nothing to do with the development of the game as has been stated thousands of times.

Its difficult to tell on stream but I don't see why Jimmy wouldn't be honest about it, especially as he's been playing AMS2 recently which uses the same engine and looks better.

Well i can see myself thats its better graphics than Pcars2. Mind you, Pcars2 was inferior to the original imo - as they implemented the livetrack 2.0 thing - they sacrificed some nice lighting effects they had in the original.

But as i said, youd expect improvement in 3 years - look at the F1 series - the graphics are much better now.

This is exactly what I would go for. I would be perfectly happy with a little bit simpler, but deep driving mechanics, but leaving depth of motorsport. I am more one "immersion simulation" side here. Something like GRID with, pitstops and proper motorsport events would be great in my opinion. And this is why Project Cars 3 disappoint me so much. I fully understand better career mode, better controller handling, maybe easier on steering wheel physics etc. But I can't stand cutting off features. This isn't just simplifying game for wider audience this is just pure cutting the game to lower the cost of production.

At the beginning it is not too easy, but you have to start at some point with something that is not totally garbage. There are lots of quality wheels that are fair priced. Can even buy second hand.
