this game is a racing simulator not a driving sim just sayin and its even in the name too if im not mistaking
I hate to add to your disappointment, but outside of livery editors and some basic adjustments that might be available on the real car like toe and ride height, you won't have the kind of customization you find on GT or Forza in Project Cars. You'll only have a couple of tire choices as well. I have played Assetto Corsa the last few months and I believe PCars is along the same vein of very limited tuning and no customisation on street cars. No racing upgrades, no kits, no motor mods, no bolt on parts etc.Yeah, but the car list is kinda disappointing if you're more into road cars. Race cars are okay, but there is no sense of ownership and doesn't leave room for customization and performance tuning.
The game looks pretty, but I feel it's more a online competitive game. I'm with Turismo Guy. Hope they make a sequel more alike to the other two games. Hopefully with a more balanced car choice, weighing more towards road cars.
I do think that will be the majority of the criticism about the game, the lack of street cars, and IMO they'd do well to pay attention to that sentiment if they want to maximize the profit of this venture. Forza and GT have proven that there is a huge demand for racing street cars on real tracks and there's no reason they can't expand that component of the franchise in future iterations or with DLC while keeping the racing portion of the game intact and continuing to develop it as well.In other words, it's something like the "sim version" of Shift 2, which would be perfect in my opinion. Shift 2 could have been the best racer of the last generation if it had better controls. Because in every other aspect (graphics, cars, championships, especially tracks etc) it's better than any Forza or GT.
Slightly Mad wants to make the best RACING game, not driving game. We should be grateful for this and not demand from them to copy the other games.
So what exactly will be the tuning options?
At the 5:00 mark you can see the tuning available on an LMP car:Thanks.

The differences are generally that there there is no game economy in a racing sim, no crazy visual alterations or bolt on parts, no power upgrades, minimal tuning on street cars, no adding racing parts to street cars, realistic tire compounds, era specific tire compounds, limited number of tire compounds per car, realistic AI, full flag systems, realistic damage, all cars available from the start...etc.etc.etc. It's built from the ground up for one purpose - to race, hotlap, TT as close to realistically as possible if you want to remove all driving aids, but is more manageable for casual users with the optional addition of the usual driving assists.Whats the difference?
Are you not racing in the GT games - Despite it being called a "Driving Simulator"?
Yep, low speed race cars FTW! The Clio, Ginetta G40,
Catch-up races against bad AI & unbalanced grid, with no damage, no penalties, and no fuel/tire wear cannot be considered proper races. Offline races in GT6 are basically time trials with obstacles. Are you not racing in the GT games - Despite it being called a "Driving Simulator"?

What about an SCCA club racing simulator with currency, aero parts, and upgrades? That's actually pretty close to what GT/Forza are half-heartedly trying to be, although I'm convinced Gran Turismo was inspired by the Best Motoring video series in Japan. The differences are generally that there there is no game economy in a racing sim, no crazy visual alterations or bolt on parts, no power upgrades, minimal tuning on street cars, no adding racing parts to street cars...
This isn't GT or Forza with a $100Million budget. Try 1/16th of that. You have to be very discerning when you're putting together a car list on a small budget and likely the licensing of those two series made it cost prohibitive to get involved. With any luck the game takes off and we see a good expansion of the car list for Project Cars 2 (December 2016 FTW!)I see many people who say 'what about this brand', 'what about this car'. From what I have seen on the game, I am more apt to say what about this series or that one. Two series that I would like to have seen are Japan's jgtc and Australia's V8 supercars. Big miss on these two if you ask me, but am still excited for and looking forward to this game none the less. I know you cannot include them all, but those two would have been much better than American stock car stuff.
