Project CARS car list

Yeah, but the car list is kinda disappointing if you're more into road cars. Race cars are okay, but there is no sense of ownership and doesn't leave room for customization and performance tuning.

The game looks pretty, but I feel it's more a online competitive game. I'm with Turismo Guy. Hope they make a sequel more alike to the other two games. Hopefully with a more balanced car choice, weighing more towards road cars.
I hate to add to your disappointment, but outside of livery editors and some basic adjustments that might be available on the real car like toe and ride height, you won't have the kind of customization you find on GT or Forza in Project Cars. You'll only have a couple of tire choices as well. I have played Assetto Corsa the last few months and I believe PCars is along the same vein of very limited tuning and no customisation on street cars. No racing upgrades, no kits, no motor mods, no bolt on parts etc.

It is more of an online and offline competitive racing sim with a full career offline and lots of TT's and other competitions. It's all about the racing and driving fast. If you're looking for a "car ownership" feeling, this definitely isn't going to be the game for you...sorry.

In other words, it's something like the "sim version" of Shift 2, which would be perfect in my opinion. Shift 2 could have been the best racer of the last generation if it had better controls. Because in every other aspect (graphics, cars, championships, especially tracks etc) it's better than any Forza or GT.

Slightly Mad wants to make the best RACING game, not driving game. We should be grateful for this and not demand from them to copy the other games.

I do think that will be the majority of the criticism about the game, the lack of street cars, and IMO they'd do well to pay attention to that sentiment if they want to maximize the profit of this venture. Forza and GT have proven that there is a huge demand for racing street cars on real tracks and there's no reason they can't expand that component of the franchise in future iterations or with DLC while keeping the racing portion of the game intact and continuing to develop it as well.

Is the subject of possible forthcoming licenses still discussed with the development team on the WMD forums, or are they all now totally secret since the Aston Martin announcement was blown by so many people before the official announcement? Just curious to know, as the license announcements for pCARS were quite regular up until a few months ago, and other sims are still throwing out new press releases at the minute.

Thanks for making me understand that I should not expect to drive as many road cars as I would like to (I might shed a tear over the Lotus Esprit though :D).
As @Johnnypenso said, some people probably will be disappointed but I'll personally shift my expectations and make sure I'm not expecting Project CARS to just be another Gran Turismo.

What I expect is to spend more time learning each car's behaviour, specificity and nuances.

And I'll have to work on my non-existent tuning skills!

This is what's great about this game: a lot of racing cars, real tracks, full career mode that's just like in real life and a sim. PERFECT! I don't want road cars, having to buy cars, tune them with parts just to be able to compete. I hate having to drive for hours just to get halfway to the amount of money I need to buy my preferred race car. All I want is a realistic racing game with a life-like career mode and that's what this is. I've been waiting for that since TOCA Race Driver 3 on PS2 and now it's finally almost here.

This game is almost perfect for me as it is! 👍 (Almost, because I don't even need the majority of the road cars that are there. I'll use the BAC Mono, I guess, but not that much.)

I always thought I would enjoy the road cars more, but some of the cars here just seem soooo much cooler. Although I will miss the vipers, Ferrari's, Lamborghini, and jags. Still better than 40 rx7s, 40 skylines, and 40 fair lady nissans that vaguely look like the real things.

It looks cool but Ill pass for now, Theres too many race cars and not enough daily drivers. Ill probbly try it but for me it will probobly end up being like grid autosport and I just get tired of racecars and high speeds. Thats what keeps me playing GT and Forza. Just my opinion not my full taste but the game does look cool and im sure ill get it eventually Ill probobly buy PS4 when GT7 comes out then try Project cars.

Whats the difference?

Are you not racing in the GT games - Despite it being called a "Driving Simulator"?
The differences are generally that there there is no game economy in a racing sim, no crazy visual alterations or bolt on parts, no power upgrades, minimal tuning on street cars, no adding racing parts to street cars, realistic tire compounds, era specific tire compounds, limited number of tire compounds per car, realistic AI, full flag systems, realistic damage, all cars available from the start...etc.etc.etc. It's built from the ground up for one purpose - to race, hotlap, TT as close to realistically as possible if you want to remove all driving aids, but is more manageable for casual users with the optional addition of the usual driving assists.

Catch-up races against bad AI & unbalanced grid, with no damage, no penalties, and no fuel/tire wear cannot be considered proper races. Offline races in GT6 are basically time trials with obstacles.

Personally I like the car selection in Pcars, I prefer race cars over road cars, open wheel & GTs alone should be enough to keep me busy for a while.

GT6 is an arcade game that has way too many versions of the same car. Project CARS is a sim that has race cars and street cars that you would see on a race track and not think why is that on a track.

I can really appreciate full race sims. I'm a huge motorsports fan and it would seem that PCars is going to be the go-to for those after a solid single player race career that offers a decent range in driving experiences. This is something which has been lacking in most current sim offerings. For me, the very poor racing experience in GT has always felt like a slap in the face (starting behind a rolling train of brain dead road blocks etc etc) and it has perhaps been the games weakest aspect considering the exceptional track and racing car licences PD have available to them.

However, as a car fanatic first and foremost, or more specifically, a lover of Japanese car culture, GT has always been my racing/car game of choice, and it probably still will be by the looks of things. So I'm really, really hoping that PD will get their act together for GT7 ㅠ.ㅠ

Fair enough. I really hope Project CARS lives up to the hype. It looks great!

What about an SCCA club racing simulator with currency, aero parts, and upgrades? :) That's actually pretty close to what GT/Forza are half-heartedly trying to be, although I'm convinced Gran Turismo was inspired by the Best Motoring video series in Japan.

To me, therein lies the primary distinction. Most of the events in GT/Forza are quick arcade-style sprints that more closely resemble an auto-journalism comparison than any sanctioned race. At times, you have no choice but to abandon race etiquette and barge your way to first place, because the game is structured in such a way that scoring anything less than pole position every time is basically unacceptable (partly mitigated by FM5), you have no option to qualify, you're given something like three laps on a small circuit, and you always start in last place.

To tie this back into the appropriate thread topic: I have grown a bit tired of the incongruence between the abundance of roadcars in GT/Forza, the staid racing circuits provided for their use, and the relatively shallow gameplay that neither simulates motorsports very well nor offers very much excitement as a videogame. I got into these games because I tend to prefer roadcars, but I enjoy engrossing motorsports experiences too. That's what I like about Codemasters games, despite the wacky physics.

That's also what has me drawn to PCARS. There are some serious machines on there, but they'll be put to use in a format I can take seriously, while also offering more substance than sandbox-style PC sims (as Benoir said 👍 ). And like DG_Silva said, there's enough here to make most people happy. Personally, the Group A E30 M3 is as good as a Sport Evolution model.

I see many people who say 'what about this brand', 'what about this car'. From what I have seen on the game, I am more apt to say what about this series or that one. Two series that I would like to have seen are Japan's jgtc and Australia's V8 supercars. Big miss on these two if you ask me, but am still excited for and looking forward to this game none the less. I know you cannot include them all, but those two would have been much better than American stock car stuff.

This isn't GT or Forza with a $100Million budget:eek:. Try 1/16th of that:scared:. You have to be very discerning when you're putting together a car list on a small budget and likely the licensing of those two series made it cost prohibitive to get involved. With any luck the game takes off and we see a good expansion of the car list for Project Cars 2 (December 2016 FTW!)
