I am relieved that they chose to not add ovals to PCars 1. Not that i don't want them in, just since the first time I felt the "glued cars" effect in the game I could tell Oval racing would be a disaster when it was added.

I am not surprised that they advertised future content and didn't deliver, which seems the norm with games. I am shocked that the reason it seems for no ovals is they had no idea how thier game physics would react to close quarters racing.

Game was still worth the money, had hours of fun and some frustration. Got a really shiny platinum trophy but, hopefully PC2 will be everything they had promised PC1 to be.

Brown-nosing, 🤬-licking or both?
Don't be so hard on yourself.

I was actually thinking of picking this up during the steam winter sale, but what I've seen here is a bit... off-putting. Nonetheless, would any of you recommend the base game for the price it's at right now, or would it be better to wait until it's in the bargain bin category? For what it's worth, I'm still using a DS3.
It was 60% off as of last night on Steam. No question it's well worth the price.

Well, the general consensus so far seems to be one of "what are you waiting for, grab it with both hands!". That said I'll wait until after Xmas, just in case it happens to be stuffed in Santa's Sleigh. ;)

Fair does. For the record, I didnt see that response when I posted here... due to being banned and all, you know. :D I have been forwarded to that reply in the meantime and actually I sent Ian an invoice just a few moments ago. Lets see if he is up to his word this time. Not that a few Euros will heal the wounds of not getting Solitude despite doing all we could.

Ian turned off his PM the first week the game came out (getting flooded with PM's) so he might not see it. Unless you have a different hotline

This must be a depressing sight for SMS:

Ok, I'm done. I'll not buy pcars 2 for features that were in pcars 1 beta and I was looking the most forward to: Historic cars & circuits. Uninstalled and goodbye.

Not the fact that a user is committing to not buying the sequel and has uninstalled Pcars 1, as a few are saying that over there, but the fact that a bloody moderator liked that post! What are they gonna do, ban the mod? lol.

He probably threw up the like because he's happy he doesn't have to deal with this customer any more....aka good riddance.

This thread turned into a bitching thread.

With regards to DLC, just had a few laps around Nordschleife with the Radical, it's easy to drive but you can still play with the gas and get small drifts done. Trying the rest tomorrow.

To me it's just a bit of a PR blunder that's all, if they weren't sure of these added features/tracks it would have been wiser not to give the impression that they were in the pipeline.

I guess it's a mix of not wanting to add to the code, as it's very sensitive already, and taking some of the good stuff to PCARS 2 and having more time to get it properly sorted.

Think about it this way, had SMS not given these 'hints' and all DLC and improvements we got so far would have been a surprise, nobody would have been complaining or ranting about the game, aside from when it concerns the bugs (but i suppose those will still be sorted in 2016).

I agree with this. It's not the cutting of future content that's the problem, it's that they made everyone believe from before the game launched that things were coming to the game that they never got into it in the end.

It reminds me a lot of PD failing to deliver the course maker quick enough for most people to enjoy. It's just another in a long line of PR blunders. The worst part of it for them is getting people to trust them on their next game.

I still love Pcars, but I'm massively disappointed that it won't become as good as it deserved to be. I'll be doing the same thing with 2 that I will be with the next GT game. Not buying it day 1, just waiting to find out if it's worth it first.

Sounds as though SMS are even worse than PD because at least they delivered the promised content (although it took a considerable amount of time). It indicates a major flaw in the work ethic when they're fixated on the second installment when the first one is incomplete. They shouldn't have promised as much as they did in the first place and now they have a large group of people turning their backs on the game.

The 100/100 square kilometer course creator?
The quantum leap in DLC?
The possible sound update?

I could go on :D

''Placeholder sounds''.
Holding their place since 1997!

One of the developers working on the Solitude historic circuit was apperantly banned from the wmd forums now...
That's our very own @FLX1981 who was not a dev but a contributing WMD member. He's just very upset about his baby being sidelined so i hope his invoice is getting cashed now.
