No offense intended but it looks ugly.

None taken, i did mention it's still work in process, and "ugly" is perhaps a very harsh (strong) word? I'm sure he put a lot of hours into it, and were it your design, i'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone called it "ugly"!

To my eye, it may need a buffer zone as the design approaches the headlights, front grille etc. As in a short fade to black.

I realise it's not your design though.

I'm very critic even with my own design. Today I made an orange Ferrari 550 but after an hour of work I trashed it because I didn't like it. I prefer being honest instead of wasting time in not so good locking stuff. I can always start fresh with a better idea.

I suggest skinners to preview the WIP skin on the 3d model several times BEFORE going into time consuming details. I use 3dsimed which is handy.

That said I expressed an opinion what is ugly for me might be awesome for you, it's a matter of taste.

That's a good idea.

A video at Hockenheim Formula one testing my new ferrari f1 wheel with sli-pro, hope you like.

a greeting

Nice wheel, but I personally prefer old Hockenheim. The Hockeneim now is like a Nurburgring without the Nordschleife in my opinion. It's good, but the other one is even better.

I was going to do a preview for you all but I feel so stupid talking to a camera so I always mess up my speech.

I'm kinda curious: How does that overlay effect even work? Gotta admit, I'm a total noob with these things

It's just masking in AE or some other editing software. How he video tapes his hands is something I'm wondering though. If it was smoother it'd be so much better.

Slightly Mad stops accepting funds for Project CARS per deal with UK’s Financial Conduct Authority

The project’s crowdfunding initiative called World of Mass Development would give those who donated funds a share of the profits; however, the Financial Conduct Authority investigated the financial plan and now those who backed the game will be refunded should they wish to no longer be involved.

If those who ask are given the full refund, they will no longer be able to access new builds of the title, nor will they receive any profits gleaned from its sale, obviously.

Slightly Mad Studios has changed how it will operate its World of Mass Development scheme in the future, “so as to avoid it being considered a collective investment scheme.”

The firm raised €2,328,685 for the development of Project CARS as of December 2012 when it stopped taking funds. as of this post, the funding now stands at €2,298,970, and we can only assume the €29,715 difference is due to refunds.

The comment on that article sums things up pretty much.

This is pretty inaccurate and also incredibly slow, as the agreement was done over 3 months ago and funding will be allowed to begin for the PS4 and Xbox One versions soon. Not to mention that funding stopped last year after funding for the PC/360/PS3/WiiU versions was completed.

Ian Bell: “We’ll be reopening the investments with some minor tweaks very soon given that we’ve now cleared things with the FSA. Users will be able to invest in the PS4 and XBox One versions and will get all of the associated benefits including regular PC builds.

This article isn’t very accurate/up to date.”

That's a source I will not quickly trust again. They just use an article at EG without checking the facts or sources. Very bad journalism.

Here's the EG article that Ian already responded to:

Comparison between two builds of Project CARS (pre-Alpha) with one year of difference between them, the build 267 of July 2012 and build 526 that came out yesterday. The circuit chosen for the comparison is Laguna Seca and the Racer V8 RS as car.

These are good videos. It's easy to forget how far we've come.

It went from "cool indie project" to "Shift 3 written all over it" I really don't like the direction they are going with this, it's also funny but whatever.

I feel like I've heard this before...

That last shot with the SLS is what I'm talking about, it so unrealistic it almost looks like a Mario game.

I still think this game is being hyped as hell, maybe going the "community assisted" route wasn't a good idea after all.

Why do you say that? It's funny cause you start as a sincere person on how the game is bad, yet then begin to say things that sound immature. Finally you are now saying this is over hyped. So why do you truly not like this game, because of the hype that perhaps annoys you or legitimate concerns of the games overall direction and mechanics?

As it stands I'd go with the prior, you are a fan of some other series and rather bash PCars and then when pressed for actual reasoning as to why, you can't give it because you really don't contribute as you claim to. It could be easily said, that GT hypes games and GT6 is currently being as hyped by them and has had less time to be hyped than PCars; so where are you on the subject?

I'm yet to hear you answer LMS's question as to why. It's one thing to have an opinion, but if you don't share the reasoning behind it, it's about as useful as all the "GT5 is the suxxor" threads.

If you're just here to spit bile, perhaps consider keeping it to yourself. If you have legitimate reasons for being disappointed in the game, then that's what a discussion forum is for. Share with us so that we can see it for ourselves. I only play a few hours a week, I don't have time to try everything new. If there's features that are falling behind that I haven't noticed I want to go and check them out so that I can give SMS a hard time.

As far as I can tell, the physics are on another level compared to either of the Shift games. There's a lot more fine control of the cars and they respond to relatively small inputs. In Shift you had to manhandle the cars and basically chuck them sideways to get anywhere. The better cars in pCARS compare fairly well to iRacing, rF2 and AC to me. I find the graphics to be still glitchy but I have no problem with the approach they're taking. When they work they look good, although I'd prefer less HDR and more clarity in the distance. At least they're accurate to the tracks instead of going for the "party atmosphere" that was in Shift. The interface is purely functional at the moment, so there's not much to be said there.

What aspects remind you of Shift?

How, pray tell, does this have Shift 3 written all over it? Also, what's funny?
