I still think this game is being hyped as hell, maybe going the "community assisted" route wasn't a good idea after all.

Just to clear some things for some of you guys, clouds move in real time or accelerated (option within the game)! Also don't blame the game on having unrealistic clouds, those were my SWFX settings...i decided to run things a lil out of control, i change them almost on daily bases (still tweaking)

but here's a pic of natural looking skies+ RUF photoshot, so it's all up to the USER on how they configure the game to run, and honestly IMO pCARS has the best looking (realistic) clouds out there! Cheers fellas

Why do you say that? It's funny cause you start as a sincere person on how the game is bad, yet then begin to say things that sound immature. Finally you are now saying this is over hyped. So why do you truly not like this game, because of the hype that perhaps annoys you or legitimate concerns of the games overall direction and mechanics?

As it stands I'd go with the prior, you are a fan of some other series and rather bash PCars and then when pressed for actual reasoning as to why, you can't give it because you really don't contribute as you claim to. It could be easily said, that GT hypes games and GT6 is currently being as hyped by them and has had less time to be hyped than PCars; so where are you on the subject?

Graphics are great from everything I've seen, along with the sound. I hope the physics will be just as good. I'm really looking forward to this on PS4 hopefully.

Do the clouds move / change in P CARS or is it a fixed weather system?

No, it's not a fixed system, it's completely dynamic. The clouds are rendered from an algorithm, dependent on time of day, weather, location, time of year, etc. That's why it's such a strain on the current-gen consoles, in addition to the tyre system.

I'm a GT fan; I'm looking forward to Pcars more than GT6- mainly because of the amazing car list (Huayra, Z4 GT3, BAC) and also because it'll be a good game- like iRacing without the monthly subscription.

And they were actually right to take it to public testers- hardcore racers and casuals can have their say to make the game better. As there is still time.

I agree:tup:

How exactly does pCARS update through Steam?
It updates the same way other Steam games update, Steam downloads and silently applies the update on-the-fly. Only difference to other games is Steam downloads updates monthly/weekly/daily depending on the membership level you set in the beta options :)

There's no RTPatch popping up after the update downloads etc. Steam does it all while downloading.

^ Yep that confused me for a while this week. I thought I hadn't downloaded the latest build until I was told to look at the build number and see how stupid I was .

I haven't used my Steam code yet, I want them to iron out all the Steam-specific bugs first.

Me too. 10 more days before the current updater is no more. I guess this means we can delete our current install and get some drive space back when crossing over to Steam install / updates ??

It does. Also you guys dont seem to have the right mindstate - you should be happy to help them find and kill the bugs, you lazy buggers! ;)

(btw: I m running the steam version without any problem whatsoever)

Same here, but the first Steam build was pretty bad so Junior members would have a valid reason to be apprehensive about the upgrade as they'd still be on that build, wouldn't they?

After reading of many members having problems launching it via steam ...... and then seeing the method of testing and reporting on the problem ( :dunce: ) ......I knew I was way out of my depth. Again , I reveal my ignorance when it comes to the "nuts and bolts" of this stuff.

Running pCARS build 520 from Steam - no problems whatsoever - actually the current build, running from Steam, is one of the best performing builds I have ever experienced.
I also still have the launcher version (non Steam) which runs the same.

Indeed it has for all other "games". However, it does not seem to be doing it for pCARS. I'll keep en eye on it. Cheers.

In Steam you need to right click the game, go to properties, betas tab, then in the dropdown box choose the beta that matches your toolpack. You don't need to enter the beta code below so beware, if you set the beta to a toolpack above the one you have Steam will download it but you won't be able to play it.

Oh yes real LMPs ! ! !

Just an odd question for you guys. But would you guys like to see the TT Circuit Assen in pCARS?
If you wish to test drive the track you can in Simraceway.

It's my local track and a great one at that for both 2 and 4 wheel events (though it's most famous for the MotoGP of course). I wish to make an effort to see if we can get this for pCARS.

Though I wonder how you guys out here feel about it? Like or dislike?

I really like Assen @ Logi, but tbh its way down the priority list imho. For example Interlagos, Melbourne, Long Beach, Toronto, Adelaide, Sebring, Road Atlanta, Yas Marina, Zandvoort, Valencia would all make a lot more sense for the context of the game. Inje Autodrome, San Potrero, Bilster Berg would be my top picks for the "Its such a hoot to drive!" side of things.

But dont let me stop you, just chase your dream. It works, sometimes! :)

Edit: Just out of interest, what race car championships are racing at Assen?

Currently, just these two...

FIA stopped this from happening:

Also due to lack of Car Manufacturers the DTCC (Dutch Touring Car Championship) stopped in 2002.

So yeah, it's crap now I'd say when it comes to championships.

Anyway, if you say it doesn't fit into the picture than I will just quit. Unless a lot of others say "yes" to the idea in masses.
I just thought that a track not so known to car racing would be kinda nice to have, next to all those well known circuits you mentioned. Besides, I am getting bored with Zandvoort being in a lot of games now. I want to drive something new and interesting for a change.

Oh well, at least Simraceway has it now. Haven't paid the game much attention, until now that is. Cars seem well dialed out, but compared to pCARS it is obvious that the physics aren't quite as complex. They are good, but just not that good.
Besides, no 900 degree steering support and in my opinion poor FFB doesn't make it any better either.
Still, I bought a AE86 Trueno, M3 E30 and RX7. They were all very fun to drive and a challenge on the limit at Assen. Some nasty camber in the corners on there that can unsettle the car, even at high speeds.

Hey guys, how does that work with steam. How do I get it?? (I already own it via WMD)...??

Thank you Samuel, I'll give it a try.

PS; That fixed it, thank you!
