Tire sounds are there, but they are still "placeholders", as there will be fully new implementation that will draw all the noises straight from the new SETA tire model with absolute full dynamics (there will also be a slider to adjust the volume individually for the screech as well as all other factors in the sound field).. not sure how they are implemented at the moment. We'll need to wait for a bit still though but it's coming. (it's been constantly requested on the forums.. :P )

edit,

may as well post this here too..

FA got the first iteration of the newest tire tech, just very very early implementation but the basics are already there just needs few more rounds of fine tuning. Sorry about the lousy driving, not used to the formula cars (and I've never been particularly good with them)..

This run was just to see how the tire temperatures look like and there's much work still to do. Looks like they are not given a proper look yet. (temps on the graph below)

If no one one doesn't mind I'll start sharing some of my feedback here too, as it may (or may not) be interesting to see for some.. At least those feedback that come with video as then there is at least some content in it! :P

Woke up, so decided to give a new go. This time I tried to tune the car a bit as there clearly was something wrong imo in the behavior last time. Not the greatest tuner or really that experienced, but got the setup feeling a lot better. Looking at the temps, it was quite clear the def tune has too much camber on all corners. Only the innest 3rd of the tire got proper heat in it. This and some changes to the diff, aero, suspension etc. got it to fit in my hand a lot better. The extreme snappyness was toned down and overall much more comfy with the car now

I have to say that Suzuka is not a good place to test as the starting temperatures are 90+°C so you really don't get to feel the cold phase grip at all.. this was the reason to test at spa for now, the temps start @ +50°C which let's you feel the AMAZING transformation of the tires. This is just absolutely stupendously great stuff

The cold feel is really scary, but once I hit the 110-130 range there was sublime feel and grip. EASILY the greatest F1 sim experience for me so so far (tbf I haven't had that many..)! Great stuff.

Temp graphs in total still looks odd to me, maybe that'll need some work still but the layer temp behavior is amazing. Once you've met the optimal temps, you can overheat the tires by giving too much load to them, but just cooling the eagerness a bit down lets the tires to come back to around 120°C.. Dunno how it is in real life but felt good to me

I can't really pinpoint anything major that felt wrong to me (after tuning), I believe this is already a really good base for the little tweaks you surely have in mind. I'm sure Ben & Co. is what is needed at this point to get honestly useful feedback. Looking forward to hearing what Ben has to say (and Nic & Oli too if they have the time

Go to 4'35 for telemetry :)

Seeing that SMS also made shift 2 which i'm currently playing, i was wondering if there's a chance PCARS will inherit the crash animations, as they were very original and almost make you feel the impact:

skip to 1:40 for the crash:

While we're on the subject, is Shift 2 worth getting? I hear the track selection is killer and the engine sounds are pretty good too.

However, I've been hesitant, since I look for realism above everything else. Shift 2's cars feel floaty and slide too much for no reason, don't they?

I wouldn't get that on the consoles.. The driving is not that good. But maybe on PC as I've heard there's some good mods out :) (haven't tried so only hearsay) Wait for pCars is my advice :)

2 laps around the ring. First lap take it easy and try to drive smooth & bring the heat to the tires, the second lap I start to push but on the latter part of the lap I start to get overheating rears (that only means you're having fun!) and it get's really tricky :P

Also little changes to the camera settings I usually use..

Only get it on sale. I got mines for 5 bucks on PC (Steam sales...), but there's a mod called PTMu that changes the tire models. I tested it out myself and the floating problem is gone! However it still doesn't make the game a sim.

If you have to have 100% realism, pass on Shift 2. But, in my opinion it has a great car/track selection, very good sounds and overall racing immersion. I first had it for the PS3 but after the crashing problems with fast cars I then bought for the 360 which was better all around. Then with the big PC discounts bought again - MUCH better than either console version after installing a few mods.

Hmm, I think I'll pass.

Will be getting PGR4 and GRID II soon, which I'm told are less arcadey than Shift 2 and still more fun and realistic than Horizon.

GRID 2 "less arcadey" than Shift 2, I don't understand that one! I think GRID 2 (I have on PC) can be a blast but very arcade, not anywhere near your "...since I look for realism above everything else..." requirement. There both very cheap on the PC, buy them both.
As for PGR4, it's been awhile since I raced that one but I don't remember that being more "real" than Shift 2, I personally didn't like the format of some of the career races. Shift 2 does have some steering/physics issues but on the PC they can be minimized.

To stay on topic, I am having some issue with using a gamepad (360) controller for pCARS, very twitchy which makes it hard to enjoy the experience but it's still early in development. I have tried many suggestions of other but I cannot be "consistant" with a gamepad in pCARS. With a wheel it was much better (a month since I last used a Fanatec setup). I am hoping they can improve the gamepad control, Assetto Corsa is the best virtual racer I have ever driven with a gamepad (better than GT, Forza, many other PC sims.).

Most default tunes are not good, you need to take some time to adjust your steering settings, and afterwards tune the faster cars to get them like you want. After you get your car just right you have a great racing experience with Shift 2 i can assure you 👍.

Physics are different, but Shift 2 simulates your car loosing a bit of balance over the bigger kurbs and if you have a jump you really have to be careful. In GT5 for example you can take that jump at cape ring full throtle and you never have an accident, which is in one way less realistic than Shift. I think it's not fair to call the game "Arcadey" just because the physics model is different...

People have mentioned the PS3 version might suffer from some lag, but i don't know as i have the 360 version and with me it's fine.

I read a little about this on CarBuzz and they said there will be a livery editor in a later version of the game. Is this true? CarBuzz doesn't always have 100% accurate articles.

Anyway, this game is already enough for me to say I would gladly play this over GT. Everything looks so beautiful. Another important question is this: How bad are the system requirements? I do not want to miss out on another great game because I don't own a PC that can't handle a game of this magnitude.

EDIT: I should make myself more clear. I saw the requirements in the OP, but I'm not a computer guy. That stuff is a completely different language to me. Explain it to me.

 me too. I really want to get into PC Gaming this summer. :D

Assuming you already have a monitor, keyboard, optical disc drive, about £600/$900 would be enough to cobble together a decent enough pc to make it sing.

Great, I think I'm going to add this to my collection. Oh wait.... it runs at 30 fps doesn't it??

Yes 30fps on xbox at least, you can pick it up for less than a tenner and have many hours of fun in the horizon. I could also recommend the legends DLC, old cars and old tracks like classic Monza, Silverstone and Hockenheim, great stuff 👍

After nearly a year of my last video editing, today I bring you "The Green Hell", a new trailer that I've made of Project CARS. This time the protagonists are not the cars, but a circuit, not anyone, I'm talking about the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Beautiful (music also).

Could you maybe post your PC specs here? I'm not a computer guy myself but I'm sure somebody here knows what upgrades you might need to get this running.

I'm still not sure if I will get a PS4 for this game (depends on the exclusives it will offer) or just upgrade my PC to play this. I found out my PC could handle many games that are also on PS3 and Xbox 360 (Bioshock infinite, Arkham City, F1 2013) just as good and sometimes better. If I could get PCARS running decent for half the price of a new console then I will go that route.

An iMac my parents won't let me play games on and a Toshiba craptop that locks up on Internet Explorer and MS Word. Hence the "I-dont-have-a-PC-that-can-play-games."

Ah I see now. Maybe try asking in the Computers and Technology section of the forums https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/board/computers-technology.64/ .

Pretty sure someone there can help you yo build a gaming PC that will run PCARS (and other games) for the right price. Got some good advice when asked what would be good upgrades for my PC:tup:

The leaves, grass, and dirt!!! I doubt you'll ever look at those while playing, but they look great! You know a game has dedicated developers when they beautifully model things you will almost never look at.

My Lord.. the detail and geometry in those shots is astounding to say the least.

This game better handle and sound as good as it looks!

My motivation for a next gen console was FM5. Interest is wearing thin, I just might get a PS4 for PCARS.

Whatchu guys think? PS4 or "XBONE" ?
