Are there any idea's for the Kinect sensor, I imagine it will track my head like in Forza so I can look around but it would be great if could use it to make offensive gestures at other drivers who make dodgy moves

Why they are still developing for the Wii U is beyond me. The hardware is a generation behind, the install base feeble, the support from Nintendo pathetic, etc. Clearly the only thing PCars on Wii U has going for it is novelty, it will probably be the first and last racing game (cars on race circuits) to be released on the system.
-In terms of graphics
-Say that at the end of this year. It's already spiking in Japan
-Yeah, all those 1st party titles are awful. What were they thinking. Easy for 3rd party devs to complain when they play it so safe to home that they get ignored.

I thought that Brands Hatch has been implemented with a laser scanned surface (not sure where I read that, admittedly).

The tracks are all reasonable but the little inaccurate details still stick out when comparing them to laser scans from competitors. I also think that some pCARS tracks are using older graphics assets and haven't been updated with things like the current rumble strip colors and positions....

Laser scanning tracks and representing them in a sim is all dandy and everything.

But if the sim engine itself isn't that deep, all that scanning ain't worth much. Laser scanned or not, as long as they faithfully recreate the actual tracks (even if that means not a 100% on the money), I think it comes down to the physics engine to give you that feeling of four wheels making contact with the tarmac and pushing the limits.

It's all in the physics babies!

If Slightly Mad had a problem, they would have dropped it like the 360/PS3. That article you've linked is debated by other developers working with the console.
Nintendoom is easier to sell than the other consoles. Because as we know, graphical advantages automatically make the better selling and performing console*.

*Until you check the previous 2 generations and their handheld counterparts.

@Classic -- We're even talking about this on a forum dedicated to a franchise that grew the most from its popularity on the weakest sixth-generation console (excluding the Dreamcast), and was known for its "photorealistic graphics" at that time.

Yup, such a shame. Time will tell how good pCARS is on the wii U.

If it ever makes it to stores.

How does the livery editor work in the game? Is it fully featured, or do you need to use some other program to create your customs liveries? Hope this game will release on the PS4 at the end of the year. Shaping up to be really good, and would finally give an alternative to what has become an awful franchise (GT).

Also, what is the deal with Audi? I consistantly see an Audi DTM car in the community galleries, I think I recall seeing the R18 in there as well, but Audi isn't listed anywhere as being included in the game?

At the moment, people are using programs like Photoshop and Gimp to paint cars. Not sure what the livery editor will be like in the finished product.

Those are unlicensed Audis. SMS couldn't get the license for them last I recall (hence, they are listed as "Asano" instead of Audi). Basically, all these Audi paint schemes are fan made.

Hopefully, the livery editor will be changed into a fully incorporated feature. Has to be for it to work on the console versions I would think.

Shame about Audi not being willing to extend their license to SMS. Also a rather curious thing. Would love to know their reasoning behind it. But thanks for the answer

The livery editor is intended to work something similar to Forza's livery editor, with vector shapes creating the paintjob, which then gets saved as a bitmap for others to download from your machine.

Audi is (at the moment) not in the game because they are being a little bit awkward, and wanting too much money for the license, hence the reason VW, Lamborghini and so on are not in the game. Things may change, and we might get them on-board, but as time goes on it is looking increasingly unlikely.

This game looks pretty great, I'll more than likely get it when I get a PS4 (probably early next year), but I think my main problem with the game so far is the lack of street cars. I don't have anything against 40 race cars, but something about only 10 regular street cars really turns me off. I know this car list isn't complete, that's obvious, but are they going to balance that out?

I think there is something like about 20-30 road cars in the end, but a lot more race cars. The whole sim is about racing, specifically the person's career, and in the majority of cases, there is little involvement in road cars.

Yeah, they're not attempting to create a Forza/GT game, they are focusing more on racing which is fine by me. I don't like driving fuel efficient econo boxes IRL, why would I want to drive them virtually. But that's me.

Edit, yes, all street cars are not econo boxes. Forza/GT has way too many for me though so that led me to the comment.

Thank you, @FuzzyFassbender and @DG_Silva , I was somewhat hoping that this wasn't the case, but I understand their decision. It's a little disappointing for me personally though. By street cars, I didn't mean like a Prius or Fusion, but things like Camaros, Corvettes, Mustang, Mercedes, BMW, ETC ETC.
Oh well. I'll make a decision when I get a PS4.

I'd love an updated OP. This is the only place I come to read about the game (forum-wise). Terronium, I'm counting on you! :)

Sincerely, the same guy that asked to have it updated in April, 2013 lol

Been reading comments of AC players that PCARS has dumbed down the physics a bit compared to it, making it a simcade game.

Comments?

It is simply people defending the game they enjoy by putting down the competition, in the same way Forza and GT fanboys hate each other and make ridiculous statements about each franchise this is Assetto Corsa fanboys putting down Project CARS because they feel like it isn't as good as Assetto Corsa.

Personally I feel like AC does have the edge in physics but I also think the "finished" cars in Project CARS feel great as well. I certainly wouldn't classify Project CARS as "simcade" because it isn't as realistic as Assetto Corsa but I really don't even understand why people are comparing the games (to this extent) when neither one is fully released.

If you're a fan of simulation racing games I think you will find a lot of enjoyment, and great physics, in both titles.

There is no dumber thing in the world than the term "simcade" anyway, at least in the way that sim racers use it to just badmouth sims that they personally dont like.

Exactly, just wait and see. Even us WMD members dont know the exact final car list as of yet, since SMS cant make things public before deals are signed due to NDAs. But while I cant tell you all that we know at WMD, I can say that we got some hints there for cars that you would probably like. ;)

Besides, there are also some very enjoyable race cars in the lineup that are still somewhat close to their road going counterparts, like the GT4 Mustang and M3 and the Ginetta G40. The red pig is also filthy amounts of fun! :D

So i guess this was just a glimpse of what we can expect in a fanboy future near us then :D

Anyway we should all be welcoming extra competition in our beloved genre, as with just FM and GT on consoles it was indeed a bit black and white so far, and PCARS will challenge them both directly.

For me the biggest bonus about PCARS compared to the others sims that are in production is, that it will be released on PS4. It's such a pain to set up my wheel stand at the PC. I much prefer playing at my home cinema system. So even if others sims turn out to be slightly better, I would still prefer PCARS. If they don't mess up the PS4 version...
