And so PCars fires it's first major salvo in the 2014 racing sim wars.

This! :D I, for one, can not wait to hear impressions from those at E3, especially sim racing lovers! đź‘Ť

With any luck someone from GTP will be there to give us a first hand review from the perspective of someone brand new to the game, although the impression you get in 5 minutes amidst the chaos of E3 won't carry a lot of weight:D

Imagine if it was @Samus doing the first hand review. That'll be so cool! :D

I wonder how the Wii U version will feature if it's gonna be at E3. Maybe it will be in the Treehouse event.

I guess they have to run the game with Aids ON, otherwise the casuals (most people there) will moan that it's 'too hard'. Last thing PCars needs at E3 is bad press.

I think he severely underestimates the amount of people who play console racers with a wheel. Especially when it's a more sim-oriented game.

The only thing I don't really understand from his comment, is if he assumes that say 99% of the console players use a pad, or if he means that on release there will be no or very little wheel support...?

I'm not sure how you can take that from his statement? Space at E3 is limited, especially for indie developers like SMS. I'm sure Sony offered them a booth setup with a pad and they jumped at the chance. It has no bearing on what support for the final game will be like.

Any of the insiders could ask the devs if they allow us to "scrape" game data from Project C.A.R.S., either through a "feed" (via HTML) or some sort of API? I would rather not go the route of reverse-engineering their game files, and I know if I asked them to release the file specs to help me do so, they would probably think I just want to "hack" the game and tweak it to gain an advantage but that isn't my intention.

Is anyone floating around any ideas for potential apps for the game? Can you share if so?

I can't share but yes, there are a lot of really cool apps being worked on. A lot of the usual add-on stuff you would expect for a PC sim, timing stuff, telemetry, mobile/2nd screen displays, that sort of thing.

And considering the real SLS GT3 has both ABS and TC it is kind of realistic.

No wheel setup - DualShock4. This'll be what the vast majority of PS4 owners will be using when the game is released.

So if the majority of the console owners will use a gamepad this game needs no complex sim physics, tyre deformation and stuff. I still have my doubts that console gamers will get what pc gamers will get. Perhaps less complex physics and so on on the consoles.

I will wait and see if I get this for pc or console. Would prefer ps4 but have my doubts.

They have multiple simulation settings for the game, "ARCADE" - "ACTION" - "REAL" - "SEMI-SIM" - "SIM". So there will be a preference in physics for everyone regardless of choice of controller.

As for the deformation part, what does tyre deformation have anything to due with a pad or wheel?

Why wouldn't it? Just because they recognise the majority will use a pad it doesn't mean they will neglect those who won't. Plus better physics are better physics, no matter the control method.

I think people are making too much out of that statement. They're showing the game off to a casual audience and they want that audience to enjoy the game so they're going to have a setup to suit. We've all seen the videos of people at game shows using wheels on Forza/GT and not being able to keep in a straight line because they've not used one before.

If they take the game to a serious motoring event they're more likely to have a proper sim setup.

You know, you can still appreciate the physics with a dualshock, so if the advanced physics were removed, we would notice and it would be damn annoying.
