Highlights of todays builds new features:

- seta tire model with correct tire width front and rear for all cars (feels glorious on the Z4)
- wet track and drying line at Imola, Suzuka and Hockenheim (looks better than anything I ve ever seen in a racing game... seriously jaw dropping)
- new kart track: The kart track @ Spa (awesome, my new favorite kart track!)

Ya, its crashing a lot... still quite a whoppin build, I d say! :D

Can someone please tell me what kind of RAM I would need to run the latest version of pCARS?

If you're talking about system RAM then you shouldn't go lower than 4 GB, I don't suggest lower than 8. If you're talking about VRAM, the higher the resolution and anti-aliasing settings the more VRAM is required to store textures. If you are thinking VRAM then what resolution are you playing at and how much eye candy do you want (medium, max settings etc.)?

Can someone post a quick video of the new tire model?

Well, this was just me driving sloppy to see how the car behaves beyond the limit with the Seta model. However, you might just get an idea about how the model behaves currently.

It looks like ice.

I partially agree. It looks like water still, but due to the lack of water flow and/or ripples created by the wind and rain, as well as vibrations through the asphalt, you don't really conceive it as being water (cause it is completely still).

So, i know it's a pre-alpha or whatever, but they plan to release in 2013...

How do they plan to release what is essentially a blatant copy of Audi's R18? OR are they working on that, and just have the car floating around for fun?

The car has enough differences for it not to be an Audi legally. But yes, they are working on licenses for this and the Radicals.

Yes, generally speaking they took a "model now, license later" approach to a lot of the early content so there was something there. For a long time the three classic Lotus F1 cars were featured in the game without licensing, they were just slightly modified to not be exact copies. Now they got the license a few months ago and they simply removed the extra parts, gave it the proper name and hey presto, there it is. Rather than waiting until they got the license to start anything, although they have taken that approach now with BMW and Ford for example, but it all depends how and when they expect to get licenses.

They can't guarantee everything will be licensed in the final game but they'll be trying their best to get as much licensed content as possible given the budget.

With today's build adding in wet track reflections I finally got around to making a Senna tribute that I had been wanting to make for a while.

On the subject of rain anyone know what the latest on wet tyres is? The effects are nice and everything but it's hard to test properly with slick tyres!

I haven't heard any news on them and I don't think we will for a bit as the STM still needs to completed (as in the real dynamics of it). But as I've only been using the STM since we got it, I have to say, the tires don't seem to lose any grip in the rain (none that I can notice) leading me to believe that as of right now it only has dry road physics (and grass and such).

I only tried weather out a few times without STM in old builds and I'm pretty sure I struggled for grip. I could be wrong.

Holly gear whine Batman!! They need to tone it down quite a bit, I see what they are doing but they are replicating what a camera mounted on a rollcage picks up. That's way too exaggerated.

The type of mic and the mounting position will cause it to vary, based on the rollcage video I would say the gear whine is quieter in the game if anything.

Most importantly, you're not comparing the same car.

ADRIANF1esp's video seems lound because of the view, Its somewhat quieter inside the car. In the end I hope it sounds like the video FLX posted from the real Z4 GT3 car.

p.s. - Its funny you should bring up the louder trans sounds, people a few pages back were complaining how they weren't there before.

it's pretty much the same sound, changes are minor

This.

I am perfectly aware that this is nothing to Shift, but the way the cars drive from the onboard videos and the annoying transmissions sounds just remind me of the Shift videos.

Is it me or are the clouds moving backwards in some shots? When driving in the same direction as the clouds are moving, the clouds appear to be going much faster than the car.

My god that looks amazing regardless.

I think it's been sped up to show the day/night transition in a shorter time. I would guess at normal speed the clouds barely move.
