Never fully understood those sequential gearboxes. On the upshifts there is no clutch usage by the driver himself , yet on the downshifts he is performing a usual heel-and-toe downshift?

I thought sequential gearboxes meant the driver didn't have to use a clutch himself on the upshift or downshift. A simple blip on the throttle on each downshift is enough to maintain revs.

Or am I thinking of a completely different gearing system here?

For clutch preservation I believe.

Exactly, it's just preserving the equipment. If you know what you're doing you can change gears in any gearbox without the clutch by blipping the throttle, you're gonna destroy it in no time but it can be done.
A "sequential" box can be in several configurations, in this example it's just a straight cut dogbox wich means that instead of helical gears they are straight cut gears(that's where the whine comes from), you can upshift while flat on the pedal but still have to blip it because the ECU doesn't do it for you.

Heres a proper sequential:

A top-end gearbox from XTRAC costs more than a GT3 Cup.

Great vid:

I just watched the SRT interview with Andy at Gamescom. This is going to be a long year for us PS3 only people. :(

New rain reflections + day/night transition:

Is there a bug with the clouds? They are moving faster than the car. It almost looks like the clouds are being seen from the rear view of the car, moving away from it.

That video made me put money aside for new PC :) I will build a new system on Haswell CPU which are to be released in Q1/2013.

Same, mines too outdated. This belongs on a PC

I can't wait until the car flickering is fixed, I assume that's because I'm running ATI? (still dont call it AMD)

What pCars build are you running?
Also what AMD driver are you using?

I found the latest build to be a massive improvement 👍.
I still have flickering when Reflections are set to ultra (high is fine) but currently that's all that seems to cause it for me. Everything else I can max out or choose a setting to my liking and not get the flickering like it was a few builds back.

I'm on the latest build with 12.9 beta AMD driver.

Cheers Shaun.

Do any of you guys know if there are any plans to support OSX? (Dont laugh).

Fantastic explanation, thanks! 👍

Might read into these kind of gearbox configurations. As an engineer these kind of things turn me on :dopey:

They've released an update every day this week :)

Static cam day/night w/fog transition @ spa :)

caterham classic: i set a decent lap time in 2nd half of video :)

Atta boy!

Its really getting hard keeping up with all those incredible updates that they put out daily now! Highlights of todays build, only new features:

- pit to car radio
- raindrops on the cars
- new and very sleek HUD

Not even mentioning the usual big improvements of existing features on a day to day basis. Off to test now, see yall tomoro! :D

Static cam video is pretty cool. Anyone know if console versions will have the ability to make videos like that?

I would love it if they had that. Thats the sort've of video I've always wanted to make out of a replay.

Hello

I leave a video edited with emerging reflections on cars and reflexes that come on the road when it rains.
The video is made from the build 324.325 and 326.
Hope you like.

I've been completely ignoring news on this game because I was under the assumption that it was a PC only community built game, like a MUGEN for racing games. I just found out this game is coming to consoles, so I've just been looking into this game tonight. After all the info and data and interviews I've seen, my jaw is on the floor. Variety in racing like GT5 but an even more varied selection of tracks, and graphics like that? PD better be paying attention, and ready to step their game up graphically if games that look like Project Cars can get their console gameplay as good as GT5's.

Graphically SHIFT 2 was amazing, and this looks even better. But physiscs and gameplay wise.....well I got Shift 2 for free from Plus, and a week was all I could give that game with that gameplay before deleteing it and going back to GT5. I'm rooting for Project Cars. If they can get the gameplay down and expand the car selection, they'll have a day 1 customer in me. And WATKIN'S GLEN, RICHMOND and BRISTOL?!?!?! WOOO HOOO!!!!

All I know is, I wish GT5 handled like GT5 and had all GT5's content but LOOKED like Project Cars.....or even Shift 2 for that matter. They are the driving game graphics kings currently. Anyone arguing GT5 or Forza as best looking isn't paying attention to these guys.

SMS's plan is to out do every racing game out and upcoming. And so far they are doing a damn good job. If I'm honest, the sneak peak we have at the Seta Tire Model, though it is only on the Formula A, it's already far surpassed GT5. And don't worry, it feels nothing like shift 2.

Would anyone be interested in having a few multiplayer races at some stage? Would be mega keen on having a laff with you fellas :D

Yeah we can do that. I ve already had races with RomKnight, bermudakid and LogiForce anyway! :D

I d say as soon as private lobbies are implemented, we can have a go.
