I've been completely ignoring news on this game because I was under the assumption that it was a PC only community built game, like a MUGEN for racing games. I just found out this game is coming to consoles, so I've just been looking into this game tonight. After all the info and data and interviews I've seen, my jaw is on the floor. Variety in racing like GT5 but an even more varied selection of tracks, and graphics like that? PD better be paying attention, and ready to step their game up graphically if games that look like Project Cars can get their console gameplay as good as GT5's.

I found out a while ago this game was also coming to consoles and have been reading this thread with great interest since.
I only tried a Shift demo once and wasn't impressed but from what I've read here this is something completely different.
I like to thank all who participate in this project and share their videos and pictures so that those who aren't (like me) get an idea of what it involves.
From what I've seen and read so far this will almost certainly be a first day buy for me.

You re welcome. Just to be sure: You understood that you can invest 45 Euros now, get the game for free on release day, get profits in return from your investment and influence how the game shapes up from today on, even without playing a single second?

Heres a new bit of info btw, there is a new track coming soon (its getting rediculous how great the track selection is now, isnt it? :D ) and it might be an iconic american track.

Build 327 has just been released too - mostly online-related fixes/adds but there's a tweak for the STM FA, water droplets and the Nordschleife now supports 45(!) cars :D

This game does seem interesting, the graphics look amazing at least. But I'd only be interested if the car handling is realistic and if there will be road cars (not supercars) or drift cars in it. Does it seem likely the game will have these things?

Ah ok, thanks for the response, I like performance road cars, just not super cars. Can you tell me what kind of road cars are expected to be in the game, and is it expected to be a sim as far as physics are concerned?

To be honest, I didn't really look into all the details yet but that sure seems like a good deal regardless, given the full retail price of a game is higher anyway.
I'll think about it.

In reverse order: The game is going to be a full sim, with assists helping out.

- 2012 BMW 1M Coupe - (Not Started Yet)
- Caterham Classic - (WIP) - Team Member+
- Caterham Superlight R500 - (Beta1)

- Pagani Huayra - (Alpha2) - Team Member+
- Pagani Zonda R - (Beta1)

That's great, thanks for the list. It looks like there will be some nice cars, I definitely find most of those cars interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this now.👍

That's a shame, I would have loved rally and drift more than anything else. It seems a bit stupid to drop drifting just because it's not racing, it's like dropping a knife or hand to hand out of a FPS game, because it's not deemed to be shooting.

As much as I love drifting and rallying, I don't blame them dropping those disciplines. I'd rather see them focusing on racing, and just racing, delivering a consistent and great game. Else we would've had another...well lets just not go there.

Not really the same, they're all part of combat that you might do whilst in a warzone or whatever, when you go to a race track you either go racing or you go drifting. This game is about racing.

When you guys start the game with the -seta model, the launcher says " Launcher arguments: - seta" . It's suppose to say that correct ?

Graphically SHIFT 2 was amazing, and this looks even better. But physiscs and gameplay wise.....well I got Shift 2 for free from Plus, and a week was all I could give that game with that gameplay before deleteing it and going back to GT5. I'm rooting for Project Cars. If they can get the gameplay down and expand the car selection, they'll have a day 1 customer in me. And WATKIN'S GLEN, RICHMOND and BRISTOL?!?!?! WOOO HOOO!!!!

All I know is, I wish GT5 handled like GT5 and had all GT5's content but LOOKED like Project Cars.....or even Shift 2 for that matter. They are the driving game graphics kings currently. Anyone arguing GT5 or Forza as best looking isn't paying attention to these guys.

Do you think the PS3 can run those graphics? I doubt that.

Hello

I leave a video edited with emerging reflections on cars and reflexes that come on the road when it rains.
The video is made from the build 324.325 and 326.
Hope you like.

greetings

Why im not getting this quality of reflection? i have all the visuals maxed and no even close to what i see on videos and pictures

What im doing wrong or is there something im missing in the set up?

Thanks

EDIT: I just realized that the new reflections are implemented in few circuits only, or at least thats what it looks like, also it takes half of my fps way too xD

I can understand if they just wanted to concentrate on racing because of time constraints and that's the direction they want to take. But my point was it would be stupid to drop drifting, even though they planned to have it, just because it's not racing, it's all done in a car after all.
If it's a sim I should be able to drift anyway, I'm more interested in the drift cars for the fact they would be more suited to drifting, than a drifting mode or scoring system.

Drifting and Rally was dropped because they didnt want to make a Gran Turismo mistake and make a half assed attempt to implement them in the main game. If they will do Drift and/or Rally it will be with a dedicated expansion pack or full games (my guess: expansion pack for Drift, full game for Rally).

You have to keep in mind that to get drifting right, you have to implement a very individual upgrade, tuning and modification system and portrait the unique scene to get the athmosphere right. And its a completely different set of cars that the main game will have (Merc 300D Diesel wagon, anyone? :D ). Same with Rally, plus some fundamental physics differences (deformable terrain etc).

Time will tell.

Oh by the way: I m a bit surprised nobody bit on my "iconic american track" comment from earlier today.

Its Infineon Raceway... or Sonoma, how they call it nowadays.

So it won't be a licensed track right? They are just going to design the track with a fake name like most in game?

In my opinion all physics should be accounted for now in pCARS, Felix. Otherwise we will still have a half assed game. But I trust AJ though, so I am the least bit worried. ;)

Besides, other then the scenery drifting should already be possible in pCARS just by changing the car setup. The tyre model will easily make this possible if all is well and from what I gathered from AJ.

Oh, about the new American track. Zero interest here. I am not the kind of guy that is satisfied with just going left. And all those tracks with an infield aren't really interesting to drive either to be honest. Of course it is all personal preference. :)

Sonoma is a pure road course, not an oval with an infield.

Edit: you probably wrote that before he finished his message. I'm sure you know Sonoma.

Physics are coming, with the introduction of the Seta Tyre Model it marks a new start towards finalising the physics. It's still a long time off being finished, so just take it easy.

Infineon Raceway is most definitely not an oval.

Was gonna smuggly retort with "You Foo, theres more then one iconic race track", but wasn't sure if that was gonna come off abit snobbish.

Also, it is reffered to as "Sonoma Raceway" now that the Infineon deal has long expired.

Would have been nice if you actually researched the track before making that comment because Sonoma doesn't just go left. Reffer to the map in the above post.

I did write it before his edit.

Sorry about the generalisation from my side, but when I read "American Track" my first reaction always is "must be an oval with crappy infield" and thus I was not interested in it any further to do any research.

Then again, I didn't think about Leguna Seca either at the time. Which is a really nice road course

In any case, I made a fool of myself and stand completely corrected. lol
It happens sometimes. ;)

There shouldn't be a space between the - and seta but yes. For DX11 just add -dx11, and for seeing the car you're picking in the 3d scene add in -use3dscene.

I see a reason to have a photo mode now. The rain droplets would be in more of a standstill and clearer visible if a photograph was taken. Depending on shutter speed of course.
