Saw that , EA need to release this licensing crap.
But we've come to expect no porches so it doesn't bother me anymore.
I'll take a ruf/sms gt3 car over a porsche anyday and porsche could be like mclaren and say only official liveries are allowed. if that happened we wouldn't have the large number of amazing liveries.

Also consider porches demographic they probably don't play video games.

But when I was a kid I loved playing GT3 and I loved the R34 GT-R And that car got me into cars, every car manufacturer wants their cars in these games because it promotes their brand and it's great advertising for their cars. Porsche is missing out on that because of EA

And like @Myles Prower says, we miss out on a lot of greatPorsches

Will the pit crew push you inside the pit box for repairs like that?
In GT3 cars, V8 Supercars etc, brake pad changes during endurance races are done in the normal pit box, it doesn't take them long at all, only a few seconds.

Ah, didn't know that. It sounded like more work than a tire change. I never really paid attention to it when watching the 24h of Le Mans. I assume they get changed there as well on most cars.

while yes were missing out on great porches look at it in a different way.
were porche a demographic is for people aged 40 over and successful. how do we market our cars; through ads and our racing programme. does the average video gamer hit the demographic? no, so why bother alter the existing contract with ea when they're offering money for an exclusive deal.

Because Porsche themselves said its a good idea to get their cars on track based games when Porsche was added to Forza 4

Just put this though the Bulls**t scanner, it came out with this:
"We made it so Microsoft and Turn 10 had to sell the Porsche brand as part of an over priced £16 DLC because we know people would buy it and in return we get a large percentage of the cut"

porsche aren't Interested in video games, if they were they would go about it like all the other manufacturers.

The porsche brand is very different to other brands. they can easily be seen on the road. but there still out of reach of most people. whereas brands like Nissan, Bmw and audi have a larger range of vehicles some that we aspire to (GTR, M Series, Quattro/RS range) that most of us common folk can afford. They can use the gtr,M-series and quattro range to get us interested in the brand and the cars from the lower ranges. To help demonstrate the difference in range here are the prices for the cheapest car on their site ignoring any deal or finance.
porsche cheapest car in the uk is £38K its the bog standard boxster.
Bmw is £17L
Nissan is £9K
Audi is £15K
Even If porche was to market Its vehicles only a small proportion could actually afford one. As result they gain very little compared to the brands. So Is worth the effort? When time = Money and the money could spent elsewhere to help the business.

Nismo crew needs 3 minutes. Something you damn sure have to do it right.

That's because they aren't using quick release calipers or rotors. The Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 did a pad change at the 12 hour in the weekend and was around the same pace as the V8 Supercars video I posted earlier.

I don't care if the name "Porsche" appears on the car or not, I simply wish Ruf produced more than (mostly) turbocharged 911s with excessive horsepower. Ruf in a game is always the same thing -- the CTR, plus another 400-600hp 911 or two.

The fact that it has a negative impact on other games is the very reason they have the license in the first place. If this FIA thing takes off for PD for example, do you think they'll just give up the FIA license (assuming it's exclusive for the sake of argument) because other games want it? Not on your life. Monopolies are absolutely golden in any field of endeavour so long as the cost of maintaining it is worthwhile. You know that PCars has the Indy 500 license right? Assuming again that it's exclusive for the sake of argument, and the Indy car and track side of the game takes off, do you think Andy is just going to let everyone use it if he can maintain an exclusive on it? Not a chance. You take any edge you can get and you keep it for as long as you can.

It's just annoying because EA make only 2 racing games, Real Racing and Need For Speed.

Believe me I wish it weren't so:yuck:, but as a person who has negotiated exclusivity deals for a living , I understand and accept the business aspect of it.

Well, we almost had the Porsche test track in our game. Sadly it got pulled due to the legal reasons.
It would have been a great addition to the game, though. :)

It was made for another project pre-pCARS... something about, I dunno, Automaniax and Porsche Online, or something.

Read about that history here: http://www.virtualr.net/automaniax-porsche-online-in-legal-trouble

You forgot the history they have, old Le Mans prototypes are amazing cars.
I really don't mind to have the RUF cars, but RUF never made a GT3 and in that case you have a fictional car, but better that then none.

What I mean is, while I've long given up hoping for Porsche to appear in other videogames/sims, I wish there were Ruf versions of cars like the 914-6, 944 Turbo, or old naturally-aspirated 911s. Or some of Porsche's racecars.

I understand that, but the problem is they never made those cars IRL, and if you put that cars in the game you can't call them RUF.

Edit: aspirated 911 could be possible, in a fictional way like the GT3

Of course. So I wish Ruf had made those cars in real life. We're all in understanding. :)

More games devs should take advantage of the 3400S/3600S, RK Coupe/Spyder, or the new 3800S, for a "Boxster/Cayman" in the Ruf lineup.

Gt3 cars don't have a technical rule book as such when compared to GTE. However the SMS version is built to regs.

The neat thing about Forza 5 is they managed to put a naturally aspirated flat-6 as a Ruf engine upgrade, by listing it as a 3.0. When you add it, however, it's a 385bhp 3.8. It was removed from Horizon 2, sadly so I can only assume it was nixed due to legal reasons. A big shame, because the N/A Ruf makes a decent base for a GT3 RS alike.

It's safe to say that flat-six sound mods for RUF will be very popular
