It basically makes things faster for the GPU
If I look at that intel benchmark and the descriptions that go along with it, it's actually the CPU that is relieved. So if the CPU is not the bottleneck (and it shouldn't be in pCARS, because if it is you can increase visual detail until it is. :)), then you don't have an advantage. Of course there could be some other optimizations in there, but I wouldn't count on major impact. CPU-intensive games like BF or GTA V (streaming!) is a completely different story though!

DX12 will bring performance benefits in several scenarios, but it's not going to be the second coming of Christ.

Would anyone care to comment on this video over on the The Project CARS Video Thread. The un-realistic appearance of the AI cars (body panel surfaces) at night has me concerned. They seem to have no dynamic rendering and reflection qualities like they do during day time gameplay.............. and as a result the cars look very "cartoon like" at night. The cars appear similar (although not nearly as unrealistic) to the way that the cars are graphically rendered during night gameplay in GT6. Does anyone have any info from SMS/WMD that talks about the way that the PCars renders objects at night vs. day? Thanks in advance for your comments, cheers! EDIT: added screenshot from referenced video.

Night racing must be really hard to get right as Driveclub which is the best looking racer to date looks amazing during the day, overcast and when raining and it all looks very realistic but once it's dark it looks incredibly cartoony just like PCars.

Not sure if trolling, or being sarcastic

Punctures are possible too from hitting the kerbs too hard, particularly the saw-toothed kerbs. You can also get punctures from too many off-road excursions, or locking your tyres up.

Can punctures cause further damage to suspension or bodywork if you drive too fast?

I know what you guys mean but it looks completely okay to me. Would have never notcied if you hadn't brought it up.

Yeah, it looks good already, not perfect of course. The devs do have some improvements in mind, but when these will take place is anyone's guess.

Not sure about bodywork, because the visual representation of a puncture is a very flat tyre, but iirc it does affect your suspension. Don't forget you can have full or performance-affecting damage.

How up-to-date is this career mode menu?

Fog lights on? Lmao.

I don't know lol

Just sold a load of games and DVD's for £28 in CeX and got £28 store credit. Will go in on the 24th and buy PCars with the other £12. :D

Edit: Just checked track list and it's good to see most tracks have the official names.

Also, by using DX12, you are limiting any PC users on Win XP/7/8, thereby making a massive cut through your potential customer base.
How so? Windows 10 is a free upgrade to anyone with 7 or 8. XP is a relic by now so you're not cutting more than 3% out.

Why should I have to upgrade my operating system just to play a game? Especially one that hasn't been officially released yet, and is likely to be unsecure and full of holes? I personally would think twice about installing a Microsoft operating system that is less than 12 months old.

I'm running it right now as we speak. As plenty of others are too. Are there bugs? Yeah sure but its not like its completely unstable. Its actually being built a lot like pCARS, just builds every 2 weeks or so with major builds coming every month not everyday.

When the full release of Windows 10 comes I think its going to be a huge upgrade and it'll be dumb not to upgrade to it. I think you're dissing it before you've even tried it. What they are trying to do is blend was good from 7 and good from 8 to make one great OS.

I'm not trying to diss it at all. I know I haven't used it, and I'm not averse to trying it out at all, but I've been using PCs since the time of win 3.1, and I've always had a wariness about new MS OSs, that's all. As long as it's reasonably safe, and I don't have to reinstall my dozens of programs, I'm sure I'll be happy to upgrade.

There was supposed to be some free DLC to make up for the last delay. The content should be announced close after the delay itself was announced. Was the DLC ever announced?

http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/experience-the-indianapolis-500-in-project-cars/

Players will be able to experience the thrill of driving a 700hp open-wheeler inside the world’s most famous oval as Project CARS will feature a true to life virtual version of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway venue. Aside from offering an exciting place for action-packed multiplayer races and quick race events, the Indy 500 will also become a integral part of Project CARS’ career mode.

Will we get this at release?

INDY 500 in PCars!? Can't wait!

To go along with the track, players will be given access to all cars and drivers of the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series season, featuring the series’ Dallara-built DW12 open wheeler. Powered by 2.2l V6 turbo-charged engines from different manufacturers, the DW12 is used by all IndyCar teams in various configurations for both oval and road-racing.

As Project CARS strives to provide the most authentic racing experience possible, all aspects of modern American open wheel racing will be accurately featured within the game, including asymmetrical setups, the IndyCar Series’ push to pass feature as well as proper oval racing rules.

It wont be in at release. WMD guys said that they haven't even seen anything about it since the announcement.

I took these screenshots with the latest build. Would you consider these cartoony?
