It's nearly midnight but I have a friend over just to try out pCARS with me... see ya tomorrow
So, first impressions from late last night...
My friend, who also bought pCARS but will only have the chance to play it by himself in June as he's on vacation in Portugal (he has his PC back in Switzerland where he works 10 months out of a year), came by so we could do some hotlapping with a few cars, all of them with assists set to Real and we used clutch when available.
First we ran some 12-15 laps each in Donington with a Ford Escort. He shared a lot of spins, going wide on corner exits, lock-ups approaching corners, but none the less we had a lot of fun with that car.
Second, we ran some 10 laps each in Hockenheim with a Focus RS, where we were mostly surprised by how good the car braked. We ended up sharing some laughs when he blew the engine twice while downshifting before the hairpin (first time he mistakingly selected 1st instead of 3rd, while second time he selected 2nd instead of 4th).
To finish things up, we ran some 6 laps in Spa with a McP1. Even with traction control (again, Real assists on), the car kept trying to get out of shape whenever we tried going full throttle on cold tyres but on warm tyres the car was a blast to drive. Also I have to say that judging by the way the car braked, I'm pretty sure that even though there's no wing animation, the aerodynamic braking is represented in the physics for that particular car.
To wrap things up, we both felt this is a game that we'll be playing for a really long time (most probably years instead of months).
