Project CARS General Discussion Thread

Hi - can anyone answer a question about how easily the cars get pushed into the air when you nudge? I'm talking about the PS4 version. This is a big forum, I've looked around but I can't find anything.

OK, the AI runs into you quite regularly under braking, and that is bad (I'm an experienced console racer and I don't consider that I'm braking early - my braking points are good enough to close on AI racers when I'm the one doing the chasing) - but bad though this is, what makes it impossible is how easily one side of your car goes air-born, and then to make it worse you get unrealistic hang time, instead of coming back to earth. You can't turn while your wheels are not on the ground of course, so invariably you go off.

So, the AI is too aggressive when chasing, sure, but basically you'd get away with being tapped on the boot a lot of the time if you didn't also get weirdly punted into the air, and then float mysteriously of the track like a low flying blimp. If they fixed this, a clear physics hiccup, then the AI wouldn't seem so... enraging :-)

So, my question is, has this been noted and discussed anywhere else? Might it be something that gets patched? Apart from certain frustations though, I'm loving the game. First console proper sim, it's what I've been after for years.

Coming soon apparently:

There better be animation of the Crew Chief yelling at the idiot that keeps dropping the lug nut.

Pit crew is not even close to the top of my priority list for pCARS.
Why do they always lose a wheel nut? Why not spill fuel or something like that? On another note I hope with pit crew we can have control of the car when it's in the pits and the car shouldn't be able to drive through the pit crew guy (The game may have to change its rating)

I see fire extinguishers so maybe fuel fires will be added to the mix . In F1 2010, I think you could hit the front jackman on manual and the game was still rated E/3.

So I'm on PCars now and stuck on the loading screen for Silverstone International before a race event, been on it for more twenty minutes, tried turning my Xbox on and off three times still nothing, can anyone help? :indiff::grumpy:

Edit, Never mind I've done it....

Slightly Mad Studios and BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe are very proud to announce that Project CARS has already sold more than one million units around the world ever since hitting the shelves four weeks ago!

With this huge success and the accolade of being the highest-rated racing game on Sony’s Playstation 4, Project CARS has firmly positioned itself as one of the greatest driving experiences ever made – created by the fans, for the fans!

“Throughout the development of Project CARS the community were instrumental in guiding the game – giving us feedback daily on each build iteration, telling us what needed improving, highlighting what they’d like to see included, and ultimately approving it as the racing game of their dreams”, Ian Bell, Head of Studio at Slightly Mad Studios commented.

“Even with this amount of early indication that the bold, ambitious vision we had was on track to be something that would truly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the existing leading titles in the genre, it wasn’t until the first review scores came in that we truly realised how much Project CARS had resonated with both media, racing professionals, and gamers alike around the world. To now stand here having reached over a million players in such a short time really justifies the work both the team and the community have done over the years and solidifies Project CARS’ future as the multi-platform racing experience of choice for fans around the world. And we’ll be talking more about that future very, very soon”

Great news! Everyone involved in this project should be very happy.

Holy wowz!

That should give them more than enough capital to keep the content and new licences coming for pCARS, give an excellent start to pCARS 2, and for each of them to enjoy a nice long holiday somewhere warm, which I'm sure they're all in need of! :)

I'd be interested to know how the numbers and the timeframe stack up against their projections and hopes, but I don't suppose that's the kind of thing they'll ever release...

I like turning the lights on and off when I'm waiting on the grid. looks cool

I do it every single race because there is no horn.

How do I do a 24 hour race when I can only adjust the laps and not the time frame? Am I supposed to calculate the number of laps or something?

I've had my PS4 enter rest mode twice while in solo mode when I'm driving around the track. Anyone else have this happen?

You drive with wheel? Atleast with my T500 ps4 tries to go to rest mode due to ds4 shut down. If this is the case try to increase time after when ps4 goes to rest mode from the settings.
