Well it is pretty obscure to anyone not local, it hasn't been used properly since the 60's. I tried a first lap on it in the 49, seemed pretty good until I steamed into a corner far too quickly, slid into the barrier, over it and into the sky.

It'll be good to see this progress, hopefully at the same rate the ring did. That went from strip of track in the sky to most of the basics being complete pretty quickly. It'll also be more of a challenge once the 49 and 78 have their proper tyres, they're far too grippy at the moment with FA tyres on still I think.

Testing the free cam mode:

It's funny seeing another strip in the sky track again. It's a very visual reminder that we're still miles away from even having all the assets in place, let alone a final version of the physics and the like. Pre-alpha version indeed.

P.S. Great track though, that windy section at the end is spectacular.

Is going to be any new memberships made available any time soon?.

Last I heard, there was a vote that approved a limited new member sign up amnesty at some future date TBD. I expect it will be sometime after the end of January and probably after the FSA has concluded their work.

Link?

People won't be able to read those links.

To sum up, yes they voted in favour of allowing new members but shortly after the poll we were told the FSA (Financial Services Authority) in the UK are looking into the funding structure so all upgrades and new applications have been put on hold till further notice.

Will post more like this if you like...

Hmm, cool but I wish I could click on each one for a high-res.

Or, even easier, just make a flickr album.

Sweet vids Timo! :)

I'll have to upgrade my PC and get that game when its released.

Just got started on P cars over the last few days as I got my new pc working.

I love it. It is a great game and I see it becoming a great simulator. It's physics are already great and they get better each week.

Admittedly i've come to this a little late, but why is membership closed? Surely the more members and money coming in, the better? I'd assumed it would be ongoing until the full game is released. Apologies if this has already been addressed but this is a heck of a long thread!

The reason is because we had already reached the initial budget of 2.25M Euros, and so membership was closed. The community held a vote, and allowed SMS to recoup some of their original budget, meaning there was more room for exisiting members to upgrade (with new membership remaining closed). However, the Financial Standards Authority have stepped in to investigate, and no more money from anybody can be invested until the FSA have cleared the project.

The game had a set budget, when funding met that budget it was closed from new members. More money does not automatically equal better game, look at GT5. They had/have a plan for the game and decided what the budget was and they aren't going over it.

If and when everything goes ok with FSA - there will be another chance still to join as team member or higher at some point. Surely all details will be posted here as well when we know more so keep checking this thread ;) Or of course the wmdportal front page.

The only thing missing on some of the screenshots i have seen so far is some AO.
It pretty much depend on the picture of course but, AO would give even more contrast and depth to the cars.

Other than that, its the most impressive racing game graphics i have seen so far.

It depends on the cars actually. Some have already had it applied, some (like the above BMWs and other newer cars like the GT40 & Capri) haven't yet.

Little test video. Trying to learn vid editing a bit..
