As with all points where sim and game clash, it should be optional. If the real car is deafeningly loud then it should be in the sim too, but as a game that's not much good. I reckon they'll do something to address it, though, they do seem quite clued up about what people are expecting and I'm sure they're aware of how people feel about the sound in racing sims and games.

Whine sound is annoying. You can simulating and make it as high as in real life, but sorry if I have the chance I won't do it. The best thing to do as neema saying is making it optional, a separate slider for whine gear noise and another slider for the engine.

As far as I remember, there are going to be sliders so that you can adjust the sounds' volume to your liking (for everything like gear whine, tire noise, etc.).

I think they have increased the volume just to make sure that the sounds are being reproduced as they should. They will be toned down when the cars are at final release.

Yes I believe there will be sliders for diff types of sounds.

Edit, all core sounds will have slider adjustment (like skidding sounds, gear whine etc)

...in the videos you posted the gear whine is just as prominent as in pCARS or Imaris video..?
Indeed, that's what I'm hearing too. The pCARS whine is almost spot on when on the throttle, when coasting and when engine braking. The RRRE whine in the vid above is not good enough; to thin compared to the real thing and you don't hear properly what the box/driveline is doing.

I agree that authentic gear whine can be a bit much, though. However, the base sound set should be authentic, and as noted by Timppaq, we will get a slider for it, so it's a non-problem, but a win-win situation :)

Exactly my mind, Felix... Not that Raceroom is so much better but their BMW in cockpit sounds more RAW and sharp compared to the actual state of pCARS. ATM engine sounds in pCARS are .... BORIIING!

Actually I kind of agree about pCARS sounds being too digital currently, but in the videos you posted the gear whine is just as prominent as in pCARS or Imaris video..?

And tbh, I dont think its annoying. That, plus the rumble of the engine make for a lovely and authentic noise imho. 👍

Hey , I hope someone answers this. I have been a member for years but I just came across this game and of course can't register now. I had a question about car models. I think I read somewhere that the car models in ultra have 200.000 polygons. Now , considering that GT5 photo mode car models have 500.000 polygons but in game ones only have 100.000. This makes PCars cars twice as detailed as GT5's. Can anyone confirm that or atleast that they look considerably better. It's hard to say from the videos because the game does not look that clean. I appreciate your feed back guys.

Smartest: The cars' bodies have lower polycounts than GT5's photomode cars (I don't know the exact number), but Project Cars' cars have much higher detail overall (suspension, engine, transmission etc.).

I was referring to outside car models quality only , excluding under the hood and what not. My understanding is , with 200.000 polygons in game , car models should look much better than GT5 , something on par with that Koenigsegg rendered video shown a couple of years ago. What do you guys who have the game think ?

I saw on a video that the game doesn't record your times if you use driving aids is this true?

No it's not. Leaderboards are not finalised yet but they currently record any legal time (no cuts etc) and note what steering method was used and what assists.

In-game models, I think pCARS ones are better than GT5. The most noticeable differences are circles/curves. They're much smoother in pCARS.

I agree . Curves are generally smoother and tires in particular look much more detailed than GT5's.
Dare I say even the lighting and reflections are better ? The only things that I think GT5 does better are the colors and the overall cleaner look.

Just read about the 2009 Ford Focus RS is coming to pCars, can't wait to get my hands on a hot hatch to mess with.
