PS3 General Discussion

Solid - You have to display all to see files, just hit triangle to display all, also note that files will NOT show up if not in the same directory. The best way to find the directory is to put a PS2 save on the PS3, and then copy it to a flash drive. Once it's copied, it will copy the file AND the directory. You can put any file there in the directory and it will show up just fine :)

Just fine for you, but not for me. When under "GAMES" my USB FD only shows "Information" and not "Display All" yet I have a PS3 file on the USB FD for my saved PS2 games. However, "Display All" shows up under the USB FD when under "Video," "Music" and "Photo."

So, you and Pako have "Display All" when using it under "Games?" I don't. Not even under PS/PS2 Save Data, Game Data Utility or Save Data Utility. It's only "Information" and no option for "Display All." How's that possible?

Sorry, I spoke in error. For saved game files, you need to have the exact directory format.

Just transfer an exsisting PS2 game save to your FD and then put any other PS2 saves in that same folder directory, shoudl work like a charm.

The GT: HD demo is coming out in 3 days, so it'll be nice for us to all get together and trade replays, since we're like the only peopel with PS3's.

Hope that helps man.

Yeah, too little, too late. I just figured out I was missing one step. Moving it to the PS3 file only wont work. I had to open the file again, and save it to the PS2 memory card section. Live and learn.

Thanks for all your help, though. 👍

EDIT: The PS3 help line guy didn't know this, but he does now.

EDIT II: My "Display All" problem still stands, but at least I could load up Pako's replay and watch it, finally. I also had luck loading is game save of Resistance to my PS3, but since I don't have the game, all I could do was hit the triangle button and read the title data. I think it something about "level 9" but I can't remember. I was doing too much at the time and this was the least of my concern.

Now, I do I post the files here on GTPlanet? LOL! I have to make them into a ZIP file, right?

Here's a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. How does the PS3 play SACD'S (multi-channel/stereo)? I'm assuming it's via HDMI. So that would mean I need an AV amp that has HDMI inputs to hear it?
I don't really need it on the PS3 as I can use what I have, but it'd be nice to know all the same.
For SACD playback you need either HDMI or iLink (IEEE 1394). However, you do not need HDMI to receive lossless audio tracks (Blu-ray supports up to 7.1 channel LPCM audio, which is a form of lossless audio).

If you have a receiver or audio processor that decodes DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD, and want that unit to do the processing instead of the player, then you will need HDMI... but of course all receivers and audio processors that decode DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD will have HDMI inputs.

Although not necessarily required (at least for media that doesn't require an HDCP compliant input), there are some important advantages to HDMI, especially v1.3, and not just the convenience of a single cable:

HDMI v1.3 = One More Reason to get the PS3

Solid,

Are you on v1.31 yet? :)

Yep. I downloaded it the second day I had my PS3 (Saturday). Took just five minutes to download.

Here are my game saves from PS2 games.

I have Star Wars Ultimate save with every level unlocked and all vehicles.

I have Resident Evil 4 with everything unlocked but the Handcannon. Time Attacks are NOT completed. You'll need ALL three files for this to work. They include Leon game save, Ada game save and RE4 Game Data.

I have MGS3S Ultimate save with all camo from in game, except downloaded camo, face masks and special items like EZ Gun, Stealth Camo, Patriot, SAA Revolver, videos, etc. There are two files for this, game save and game data. You'll need both.

I have the ULTIMATE GT3 Game Save. All gold licenses, 100% win ratio, Day 229, all cars unlocked, etc. It was also available previously before.

That's it. I also of GOW, Test Drive: Eve Of Destruction, if you need that.

I'm looking for MGS2 complete game save, if you have it.

I cant find a memory card adapter anywhere at the local retail places. All my games work so far, now i need to transfer my data.

Oh yeah PSN seems to want to work most of the time and when it does its slow sometimes. F1 demo took 25mins, not bad i guess. Motorstorm demo took 18min. I hope it gets better with updates and they add resume downloading.

I've got a memory card adapter for sale, since I don't need it anymore. Actually, I'm going to return it to Wal Mart the day after Christmas. So long it has a UPC code on it, they'll take it back and give you cash for it if they sell it. (So dirty). :D

I found out my cousin did in fact get a PS3 last week. I had been led to believe he hadn't been able to aquire one. This weekend I'm going to his house to see what it has to offer (more importantly, to see how good Resistance is).

I don't know if this is considered advertising or not, but I do know somebody with a 60GB PS3 for sale at retail price. I'm not saying anything else unless a mod says its okay.

Not about PS3 but, I got $400 back from my tv purchase. Circuit City dropped the price on the 46" Samsung LCD I have and I wasn't let them get away with it.

Yes!

Thanks for that. A new av amp will be making its home some day, but not quite yet!

Ah crap, I'll have to wait till I get home.

opendriver - It's GT: HD, but it's basically a demo of GT5.

Well, they haven't said anything about what the game is going to include, so im going to label it as an "experiment" for now, considering I dont have a PS3, which is even worse

Ah, well another PS3 game heads to the 360....Virtua Fighter 5..

I know the PS3 has plenty of titles and exclusivity is not the be all and end all of a consoles attraction, but still.....
I know it was never specifically supposed to be a PS3 exclusive, but you would have thought so really. Oh well, not important I guess. It comes to the 360 a few months later.

The GT:HD/GT5 pics look good. I like the light on the roll bar in the first pic.

I think it's safe to say that Sony got kicked in the balls. That is if they still have them.

I've got a PS3, and I'll let you know what it's like.

But, the demo will include 10 cars and 1 track, with a time trial mode, and an unlockable drift mode.

Considering it hits the PS3 a full 10 months before it will see the light of day on the 360, it's not a hit at all. By then, all of the comp will already be on the PS3, and 360 owners will get it as a bonus. I'm positive that Evo will be hosted on PS3's and the 360 will just be an after thought. Not to mention there will probably be a crappy stick on the 360 since MS is sticklers for their accessories.

Hori + PS3 > MS Bullcrap Stick + 360.

End of story? Ah well.

Still, I'm sure some 360 fans are "excited" but the game won't have anywhere near the user base on the 360. It's just there to gain a few extra dollars.
