PS3 General Discussion

7-8 months at the earliest. It's "said" to come out in LATE Summer 07, which would mean with no delays, it'll be August / September.

HOWEVER.

Sega recently said that they were able to include all of the items from Version B BECAUSE of Blu-Ray's capacity. This means on DVD9 it will require more work for compression, or simply FEWER ITEMS.

So, I added a month or two in order to compensate. And without a good stick, it won't be worth my time, since the d-pad on the 360 is terrible.

I was under the assumption that Lindbergh was as powerful/slightly more powerful than, the PS3 (not to mention somewhat similar in architecture); so wouldn't it be more, um, sensible, to leave it on the PS3? For damn sure most of the people who buy Virtua Fighter games (the Japanese) don't want a 360 anyways. Not to mention Sega is craptastic at ports recently.

Other than the "hideously expensive" bit, everything they said was true. Many of the launch titles were lame. It was beaten by the Wii. It is difficult to write for (if you are EA).
That being said, Snakes on a Plane is listed as one of the 5 biggest flops, so the entire credibility of that site is thrown into question.

I think it's safe to say that Sony got kicked in the balls. That is if they still have them.
 Duck... you do crack me up sometimes. You'd think that considering how much you chastise JR for being so biased towards Sony, that you wouldn't act the same way, only in your case biased against Sony. ;)

Unfortunately, your tireless efforts to spin every announcement as being bad for Sony while at the same time turning a blind eye towards most anything regarding XB or even Nintendo is really no different than what annoys you about some of JR's anti XB360 pro PS3 posts.

Personally, you both should apply for jobs at Sony's and Microsoft's PR departments. :)

Actually, I'm going to wait for the Time magazine article about Blu-Ray players and how they recommend getting a playstation because the other ones are so expensive.

Time and their bitch-fits.

It really is a shame how bad Time Magazine has gotten. Twenty years ago it was one of the best mainstream news & personal interest magazines. Now it has as much credibility as the magazines that surround it near the checkout lines of any major grocery store. And last check, its neighbors were the likes of People, US, and Soap Opera Weekly. At this rate, it's going to be selling next to the Enquirer. 👎

Then how come I use my PSP every day?

I'm not biased against Sony. Sure, they do a few things that anger me, but that doesn't mean I'm biased. If I had the money, I'd buy a Bravia (or maybe one of those Samsungs).

"Spin every announcement"? Please. Not to mention, I don't post positive 360 news all that often either.

I mean heck, if you want me to be a PS3 fan and post tons of positive news (assuming it hasn't been posted already), I'll do that. 👍 👍

Personally, you both should apply for jobs at Sony's and Microsoft's PR departments. :)

Meh, I'd rather work at Nintendo.

Personally, I think Time is great for bathroom reading (gotta love the cartoons and famous quotes!), but as for actual news, it's just bleh. I use the internet for that.

It looks like Splinter Cell: DA will be available on the PS3 this spring.

Splinter Cell Double Agent Stealthily Slides Onto PS3
The latest Tom Clancy spy-epic makes its PS3 debut this spring.
by Micah Seff

December 21, 2006 - In one of the most unsurprising turns of events in recent memory, Ubisoft today announced that Splinter Cell Double Agent would be heading to the PlayStation 3 this spring. The game will see a worldwide launch in March 2007, arriving at the same time the PS3 does in that oft ignored region.

The PS3 version of Double Agent will have added multiplayer maps and skins, as well as support for the motion-sensing capabilities of the SIXAXIS controller in both the game's single and multiplayer modes.

"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent is already a best-seller and has set a new standard for the Splinter Cell series," said Yves Guillemot, CEO at Ubisoft. "I am sure that Double Agent will prove to be a must-have title for PLAYSTATION 3 system."

Sega's arcade board is based on a Pentium4 and a 6800Ultra.

I dont see how Ps3 was a flop(Time). Wii did sell more but it wasnt because of the price difference. Even MS has turn agisnt the Wii knowing they will probably forever be number 2.

VF5 for 360 doesnt mean much. It(Any VF) didnt sell all that well in the US and there are already more PS3's than 360's in Japan(sold not in homes :))

Blimey, it's all swings and roundabouts. VF5 one way and Splinter Cell the other. But I do wish Sony made as much noise with their titles as Microsoft does. But then third party developers do what they wish. Still, Splinter Cell for the PS3 this March is good news for us in the UK. Hopefully it'll be a good port too.

When PS3 loses an "exclusive" title, the whole world implodes with fanboy banter. Yet, when the 360 loses an "exclusive" title... the silence is defining. I just find it interesting how well this resembles politics, biases, and the mainstream media.

I dont see how Ps3 was a flop(Time).
I didn't mean for it to sound like I was saying so. I was just stating that it was technically accurate that the Wii outsold the PS3.
And I meant the Lindbergh was closer to the PS3 in architecture than the 360.

Fortunately, however, the PS3 was very well built, just imagine how busy the media would be if the PS3 overheated like crazy like the 360 at launch:sly:

Come on, you're just talking out of your ass here. It'll have problems - every console does. Maybe farther down the road, who knows.

I didn't say the PS3 won't have any problem, and it's true there were many 360 overheated at launch. What's your problem Mr. Zrow Moore?

Edit: and dont' bother answering me, you're in my ignored list

To be fair, name two titles that were supposed to be X360 exclusive but are going to be multiplatform. If you can teach me (as dumb as it sounds), you'll get a cookie.

I can think of one (GTA4) though Microsoft was the only one who said it was to be exclusive.

I believe the PS3 had very few, if not any, problems at launch.
It has problems. Definitely not as many as the X360, but it has problems that are few and far between.

You know, how come every time someone says something negative about the PS3, you call them a Peter Moore follower? It's getting old, and it's not funny.

Edit: and dont' bother answering me, you're in my ignored list

Oh, right. If he answers, I know you will look. Everyone does. You have curiosity, like any other human being on this planet.

Okay, that's one, though it really shouldn't count, but I'll count it anyway. You get one half of a cookie at this point.

Splinter Cell: DA
GTA IV
Oblivion: Elder Scrolls
Half Life 2
Ninja Gaiden

All said to be strictly Xbox exclusive at one point or another, yet when they were no longer, the silence was there.

:) Do I get any cookies!?!

Hah, first time I've been ignored. Anyway, I wasn't even dissing the PS3 - just high-tech consoles in general. The Xbox overheated, the PS2 disc drives go to hell, it just happens. It's a good reason not to be an early adopter of technology in general.

I was referring to you making a claim like "the PS3's are very well built", when you know you don't have anything objective to back it up with. Okay, Mr. Kenji Harrison? Chuckles!

I have something objective to back it up with.

My 360 died originally in three weeks. Thankfully, it was quickly replaced.

I've played my PS3 about 3 times as much as I ever played my 360, and I have yet to get a freeze up, over heat, or malfunction. The biggest thing I've experienced is two random disconnects of my wireless controller. Other than that, the system has worked better than ANY I've had before it (I've always been an early adopter of Systems, since the SNES).

Good - for hundreds of dollars they should work. Maybe the standard will be raised for build quality of launch consoles in the future because of it.

Of course, that said their launch (nor Microsofts) wasn't stellar for other reasons. The whole process needs to work better.

My 360 has worked better than my first PS2 which I had to replace because it would'nt read CD-roms after 6 weeks. The replacement worked fine. My 360 has been faultless so far. Lucky me, eh!

As for "exclusives" - I wonder how many third party exclusives there are. Not many I guess. With the 360 if the box says "only on xbox 360" (or whatever) chances are it's not appearing on another system anytime soon. But I have plenty of games that don't say that like Oblivion and Saints Row.
Personally as an owner of both systems (well, I will be once the PS3 is released here) it's all good and I'm not complaining one way or the other. I could'nt say which platform has the best exclusives or not. All I know is that there are x amount of games I want and to play them I need both systems.

The PS3 March launch in the UK/EU really is looking very good. I wonder if any other games will spring up by then?
