PS3 General Discussion

OMG CGI FAKE FAKE!!!11!!one11!!

:odd:

I do hope you know his post had sarcasm written all over it...

EDIT: I found something pretty interesting...

Certain Playstation 3 games will and do have a "feature" built in that will turn certain elements on or off depending on the region of your system.

The first example comes from Resistance: Fall of Man which shows no blood when run on a Japanese system but lots of blood when run on a US system.

Also, it doesn't matter if you have the Japanese print or the US print of the game, as it's built into both.

The second, which also comes from Resistance, is a bit more of a concern for online players. Your console's region essentially pairs you with that region's online servers. Thus if you have a Japanese system and you're playing Resistance online, you'll be playing against Japanese gamers. And well, they're a lot easier to kill :P.

I didn't know there was censoring.

Just like that motorstom for the 360 vid, right?

Is it me, or has anyone else tried out PS3 media center? Very useful tool. more info here

EDIT:

I an going to re-format my external HDD so I can transfer all of my music and videos over to the PS3 HDD. How ever, the PS3 does not recognize NTFS drives, so I go to the little drop down menu under "format" and all I see is "NTFS", Like so:

Please, help

Uh.. yeah. I was, um.. you know, going along with it? I guess it wasn't as funny as I thought it was.

That's interesting about the censorship thing. I wonder what else they can change that way?

you can't format a FAT32 volume larger than 32GB in windows XP:guilty:

Also, what do you guys think about Gamestop's PS3 deal? Is it a fair deal?

Well, if you don't mind your PS2 games looking like crap (which I don't, since I almost never play them), then I'd do it.

I came across something interesting the other day, regarding this problem.

I've read that the problem only exists with 480i games.. I'm guessing most of these are also 4:3, without a widescreen option.

Anyhoo.. I popped Okami into my PS2 the other day, which is connected to my HDTV via component inputs. And lo and behold.. the same stair-stepping effect on the edges that was shown in that YouTube video.

I think that helps confirm the root cause of the problem.. that the PS3 is deinterlacing the 480i image and doing whatever it can to compile a 480p image, just like my TV's doing to the 480i input. Problem is, neither of them is very good at it, it seems.

Pro-scan FTW. God of War looks fantastic, although it's cheap on the widescreen (I'm pretty sure it's "widescreen" is actually just cropped from the full-screen version, that you're actually seeing less of the screen that way. Given the size, I don't really care, though).

Is anyone else have problems with the HDD's showing up on their PS3?

Ill make a HOW TO thread on it with some screen shots

::::::::::

BTW, I got my external to work now, now that I reformatted it

I would think anyone tinkering with the HDD would run into problems.

Anyway I already knew 480p games look fine, I said that in another thread. But still Killzone is the worst looking game running on PS3. There is a problem with widescreen in some games. GT4 hacks of more screen than on the ps2 in 1080i Toca3 has no 16x9 but on ps2 it was automatic like burnout 4.

You guys need to format your drives as FAT32, not NTFS. NTFS is proprietary to Microsoft.

I tried running Shadow of the Colossus. I switched to 16:9 and progressive scan in the menu and it still looked like crap.

I asked my self the first time I saw that king back at E3 during a trailer, "This has to be the best facial motioncapture I've ever seen"

:dunce:

Yeah, I usealy find out info 2-5 days later. Dont know why that is, but it just is

Oh yeah, I just ordered my headset off ebay for 24 bucks. To go along with resistance of course:D

To shed some light on the march update:

Not to impressed with it, but I hope it changes...

Not to leave the linux thing out, but some news is better than none:

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/debian-live-devel/2007-January/000705.html

How are you not too impressed with things people have been craving? Multi-tasking, customization options, more slide show options, amazing world wide PSP streaming content access...I fail to see how you are not impressed?

Basically, you can now load your PS3 up with audio, and anywhere in the world, you can access it with your PSP via WiFi and listen to all your favorite music, and watch videos off your PS3 through your PSP...how on gods green earth is that not impressive? I'm impressed and I refuse to buy a PSP...

Because I dont have a PSP:indiff:

Still, the ability to multi-task (which imply's hopefully downloading while you play games, listening to music while you play games, send messeges while you play games, etc etc) and custom display features (which hopefully means wallpaper functionality and custom XBM features) really seems a lot like what pretty much everyone with a PS3 wants...what more do you want?
