I still believe a majority of Xbox problems stem from owners not taking proper care of their system.

I don't mean to bring up old posts, but I'm 'catching up' so to speak.

This is false. The majority of Xbox problems are native to the hardware, and stem from the poor placement of the GPU.

The GPU is placed DIRECTLY under the DVD Drive, which happens to be both poorly insulated (which is also why it's so loud) and is extremely close to the GPU (since the console design is concave). This leaves little room for a sufficient heatsink, which leads to heating problems with the GPU. The GPU get's hot extremely quickly, however, this is not the problem. The problem is that the motherboard can 'flex' when hot, as it get's softer. This causes the soldering on the GPU to 'stretch'. When the console cools down, so does the solder, and this can cause them to break and 'separate' the GPU from the mother board, which ultimately leads to hardware failure.

It has nothing to do with proper care, and everything to do with poor design.

You had to troll that up? Look go back and read some of my posts on the subject of Xbox's and their reliability. I blame the users for not recognizing the additional care needed, but I also blame Microsoft for not making their console more or less "idiot proof". But whatever this is a PS3 thread and that subject is left for another thread.

In other news I think I fixed the music problem, I did not have the proper update on the system which was causing issues. Like I said I'm still a PS3 noob.

JR was just trying to explain why there are so many faulty 360s.

but I also blame Microsoft for not making their console more or less "idiot proof"
So those poor 360s owners who got this 30% piece of junk are all idiots? I am gonna disagree with that.

MS rushed the 360s to try to gain some advantage. They screwed the consumers with their faulty console. Period.

Just my opinion, get back to the PS3.

When did you sent in your order form?

Wait, so if you kept it on 24/7 it wouldn't break?

I'm finding it very annoying that the Music player on the PS3 doesn't play WMA files, I mean I can understand why but half of my favourite songs are in WMA format.

It does play WMA. You need to enable it in the settings first. However I believe the bit rate of the WMA has to be 190kbps or less otherwise the PS3 can't play it (from my experiance).

Theoretically (or even truthfully) yes. MistaX constantly keeps his on and it has never had any issues apart from something do to with the DVD drive. His I think is a console only a couple of months after launch old.

Think of the electicity charge though...!

And assuming they don't have the DRM protection which is highly irking.

Thats the thing i don't have on it:( But i planning to buy a new one anyway. Thnx Joey:tup:

Not having DVI is quite annoying I will admit, I have the same issue with my monitor at home and my new HDTV does not have an input for it either (however my cable box has a DVI out).

Here is a thread on another forum that explains sort of how to do it, it looks like it would cost a fortune though and you'd probably be better off either saving your money for an HDTV or getting a newer monitor.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/310199

Since HDTV's have their prices drop quickly you probably wouldn't have to wait all that long. Small ones at Best Buy can go for $400-$500. Mine was a bit more at $1500 but it's a 42" 1080p. It's probably one of the best entertainment investments I have made and I would recommend getting an HDTV as soon as you can afford one.

Has anyone gotten the new Burnout game yet? I am a bit curious to see what it is like and read some opinions on it.

Personally I have loved the demo's (Japanese store demo had a different car to the US/European demo) and will be picking it up on Friday. The UK release is not until then, but I do recall Pako saying he had it on Pre-order.

I too would be interested in anyone's thoughts on it.

I think it came out here in America yesterday however I am not sure. I'll have to check out the demo before I go and buy it but I have liked all the other Burnout games quite a bit.

Oh, I'll have a look later then. 👍

EDIT: My brother has Burnout on pre-order (for his birthday) and GAME have sent it today so it should turn up for Friday or even earlier.

OMGZ Frontlines: fuel of war for the PS3 has been cancelled

To be honest, I don't really care, COD4 will keep me busy until MGS4, GTA4 come out.:)

According to many reviews I read, the lack of "retry" option for the events and an unclear UI will be very frustrating. The rest of the game is very good. For me, I think I'll pass this game.

Has anybody tried the theme based on the Gnome desktop environment? It's really good.

I spent an hour or so playing the Burnout demo, 👍 from me. I saw ND4SPD was playing the full game for a few hours. The game's getting good reviews, I'm a bit low on funds to buy it though.

Frontlines..

No one probably even cared about that game..... COD4 has wiped the floor for now and for a long time to come...

Devs just been lazy with the PS3 versions yet again.... wonder what score it will get for the 360 version.

Robin

Front Lines isn't even like COD4. Why play anything else if COD4 is so god like . It more like Battle Field.

Anyway it seems the 80GB model is being phased out as online retailers are no longer receiving them and this comes from Best Buy and Target. That means backwards compatibility will finally be killed off for now. I wonder if they have a replacement coming...

I mean a replacement for the 80GB model. 40GB model does not have card readers and only 2 USB ports. I currently use 3 regularly, i use me card reader to for transferring files and UT3 mods and I us a lot of HD space.

I was kind of being sarcastic in my other post but anywho...

I think the 80GB model maybe replaced by a 120GB one... it seems thats the way things are going, in the UK the 80GB is just getting into its stride so no cancellation here....

Robin

I just think it's interesting that no rumors of a new model have been leaked beside the white 40GB system. Perhaps they'll announce only 40GB systems will be on shelves in the U.S. until fall. You know after selling a zillion 40GB systems they'll unleash a new high end model in fall.

Have any of you guys experienced Bluetooth problems?

for some reason the PS3 tonight dropped the connection no pad and no BD remote, I had to re register the remote to get it working and this seems to have fixed the pad problem too, also Super Rub A Dub has been corrupted, for some reason the game freezes as soon as you start to play, now I'm thinking this may be down to bluetooth too, seeing as the game is a tilt game only, I've not played SRD for ages.

Any Ideas??

Odd.

Don't know about the Bluetooth stuff, but SRD you can delete it and redownload it.
