PS3 General Discussion

Just downloaded the YouTube app. I was wondering if there is something wrong or something i could fix to make the video clips play all the way though with out stopping? It's really irritating when they don't load all the way and stop!!

Does anyone know how I can deactivate a PS3 for video? I looked on the website and it sees you can only do it for games, my old PS3 died so i can't do it on the actual system.
I recently got a code for a free rental on casino royale so want to make use of it.

Try here. Sign in to PSN's Website then go to this site try register your new PS3 with your account. See if that helps.

Thanks guys, I tried doing it one the Sony Entertainment site, it lets you deactivate for game but not for video for some reason... The product registration only put it on the website by the looks of things.

You have to call Sony, tell them your system is broken and you and tossed it in the trash. Or you lost it destroyed it or whatever. They wouldn't deactivate mine, they wanted me to ship it in to them to be repaired for $150 lol. It was too late for me to lie. I've heard they just deactivated some users systems but that was my experience.

I've had a few things happen with my PS3 lately and I can't explain them, so I'll ask about them here. (I've done a search and found nothing helpful, so please direct me to existing discussions if these have been answered already.)

Save Data to USB:
Some of my games (Crysis 2 and others) do not allow the saving of data to flash drives in the USB port. Others (GT5) allow it no problem. Is this caused by the game design, a PS3 or flash drive problem?

Disc Auto-start:
The settings allow for an auto-start feature, where a game starts up automatically after the disc is inserted. I've always had this feature turned on but lately my games will not start up automatically. I've checked the setting and it is still on. But now I have to go to the game menu, find the game disc that I just inserted, and press X. It's not that I mind doing those few steps, but something is not working right. What's up with that?

@DGXR

Well about the save data.

Some games do not allow you to save the save data to a flash drive. For example Battlefield 3 doesn't because all of your save data is actually on their servers. Your actual save data for that game is just the login info nothing else

I finally have some big news. May I introduce Jake Davis, Mustafa al-Bassam, Ryan Ackroyd, Ryan Cleary from the UK and Todd Miller from Columbus, Ohio? These lovely individuals were recently convicted and now sentenced for their part in a string of cyber attacks that, famously includes Sony and PSN by LulzSec.

Jake Davis, the PR man of the group, was sentenced to two years in jail, al-Bassam, guilty of posting any stolen data obtained online, given a 20 month suspended sentence, Ryan Cleary, the man who provided software support, 32 months in jail, and the ring leader Ryan Ackroyd, 30 months in jail. Cleary is also facing additional charges for indecent pics of babies and children, and all four men could face extradition to the US to face additional charges.

In the US case, Miller was sentenced to one year of house arrest, not for the part that he played in the PSN hack, but for destroying evidence.

Finally some good news, two years too late.

I didn't even know there was a new firmware update. What does it do? Changelog isn't even on Sony's website yet.

Supposedly has to do with trophy notifications, clearly though there's an error in the script that prevents launching.

I have a self installed 750GB in my PS3. I'll give it a try and let you guys know.

Crossing my fingers.

Sony must had removed the update from being downloaded. I just restarted my PS3 and went to check for a update, and it says I am currently up to date (V 4.41)

Yes, they removed it to re-work the patch as of 5-10 minutes ago.

Seems that way. Also me and my friends just went online to Battlefield 3. Some have already done the update. One of them has three PS3s all updated to that new version. All three of his PS3s are not syncing the trophies (which BF3 does on startup), and then all three cannot sign into PSN now
