PS3 General Discussion

There will be no playable Sony PS3 games but other companies can show off their games. Sega revealed Full Auto 2 ,Sonic and Virtua Tennis 3 will be playable but behind closed doors.

Yep. And as all controllers will be wireless there'll be no problem with falling over cables etc.

However, here's a question. Are the controllers rechargeable via the USB ports on the PS3?

Ya Hsin begins PCB shipments for Sony PS3

Ya Hsin Industrial has begun shipping printed circuit boards (PCBs) for Sony PS3 game consoles, with the shipments expected to contribute NT$200 million (US$6.1 million) in monthly revenues for the maker, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN). The company, which is seeing strong growth in assembly orders for LCD TVs and handsets, indicated that about 60% of the PCBs it produces are for internal use, according to the paper. Its revenues for August may hit a monthly record of more than NT$4 billion, the paper added.

Nope. The one above yours. It really doesn't matter; I was just letting you know for your sake. I guessed you missed his link. It has the entire interview you partially quoted from. I figured you'd want to go back and read the entire interview.

The first guy who start a 4 player game on the PS3 is freaking rich!

When a new console launches I always buy 3 additional pads, since I like multiplayer a lot. I have to say though, that the recent development is quite painful... just have a look at Xbox 360 racing games... which of them has a 4 player mode ? Right, not even one of them...

3 extra controllers isn't that much...unless of course you're talking about the 360 wireless controllers, which for the entire set up for each controller is around $70 a pop. But with the PS3, it will be significantly less (due to the lack of a license fee for rumble, cheaper blue tooth technology). I'm guessing the PS3 controller will clock in around $34.99-$39.99 at most.

Here in Canada. 50+50+50+650=800$+14,5%= 916$ without any games. Also, I think the controller will be around 60$ in Canada instead of 50$, due to the wireless & tilt technology.

27 Games Playable At TGS

TOKYO, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Sony Corp. (6758.T: Quote, NEWS, Research) said on Wednesday it would offer 27 playable games for its PlayStation 3 at the Tokyo Game Show next month, a sign of progress in critical software development ahead of the November launch of the latest version of its blockbuster game console.

Sony, which competes with Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Nintendo Co. Ltd (7974.OS: Quote, NEWS, Research) in the global video game market, offered 13 playable PS3 software titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show in Los Angeles in May.

Having a wide range of popular software at the time of the launch is considered crucial for success in the game console market.

Any indication of how the upcoming console could fare is closely watched, as the success or failure of the game machine would exert a far-reaching impact on Sony's group-wide performance.

At stake is not just pole position in the nearly $30 billion global video game industry, but dominance in next-generation DVDs and the commercial viability of Sony's Cell microchips, co-developed by Toshiba Corp. (6502.T: Quote, NEWS, Research) and International Business Machines Corp. (IBM.N: Quote, Profile, Research).

"It doesn't necessarily mean everything is running according to plan, but it's good to hear some positive development concerning the PlayStation 3," KBC Securities analyst Hiroshi Kamide said.

Playable games at the Tokyo Game Show, which will run from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24, will include such titles as Ridge Racer 7 from Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. (7832.T: Quote, NEWS, Research) and Capcom Co. Ltd.'s (9697.T: Quote, NEWS, Research) Devil May Cry 4.

Shares in Sony closed down 0.2 percent at 5,250 yen, underperforming the Tokyo stock market's electrical machinery index (.IELEC.T: Quote, NEWS, Research), which gained 0.21 percent.

Damn TGS gets the playable games and I'll stand in front of some videos in Leipzig this weekend ....

@ 4 pads for PS3/ consoles in general... I have a lot of friends who like to play multiplayer with me, most of them don't have consoles. So it is a very good investment for me, and let's face it, in the end you'll buy 4 pads anyway, so why not in the beginning ? I have to say, that the price tag of the PS3 is quite a pain. I preorded mine and if it is indeed region code free I might be happy with it. The start lineup is not really awesome, but I expect a load of japanese games within a few months, so I can aswell buy the PS3 at launch, since prices won't fall that fast. I still hope that we'll get a rumble effect. I just can't believe that Sony is stupid enough to release a pad without. I mean, nobody would care at all if a pad is 10 $ more because of licence costs...

and here´s the list: (19 of the 27)

PS3 to Take Over Tokyo
Sony announces 27 playable titles for the September Tokyo Game Show.
by Anoop Gantayat

August 23, 2006 - We had a hunch that Sony's presence at the September Tokyo Game Show was going to be big, and now we have confirmation. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced today that 27 PS3 games will be playable at the show.

Here's a list of 19 of 27 confirmed playable PS3 titles. The publisher for each game is listed in parentheses.

# Railfan (Ongakukan)
# Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom)
# Fatal Inertia (Koei)
# Blade Storm (Koei)
# Mahjong Taikai IV (Koei)
# Coded Arms Assault (Konami Digital Entertainment)
# Genji (SCEJ)
# Formula One World Championship (SCEJ)
# Heavenly Sword (SCEJ)
# Lair (SCEJ)
# MotorStorm (SCEJ)
# Resistance Fall of Man (SCEJ)
# The Eye of Judgment (SCEJ)
# Warhawk (SCEJ)
# Gran Turismo Series (SCEJ)
# Minna no Golf 5 (aka Hot Shots Golf, SCEJ)
# Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco Games)
# Gundam Target in Sight (Bandai Namco Games)
# Armored Core 4 (From Software)

All but the first game were previously announced. Given its publisher (and title), the first game is likely a train simulation game of some form.

The remaining 8 titles are currently a mystery, so we encourage wild speculation.

Sony will also have a theater in its booth which will show video footage of a total of 35 titles. We presume there will be some overlap with the playable titles and the video-only titles, but Sony wasn't clear about the matter.

TGS kicks off September 22nd. IGN will, of course, be in attendance bringing you full coverage of all things PS3.

finally GT5. can´t wait:dopey:

I'm betting the GT demo will just be an updated GT:HD demo, but I think we should see some video footage of the actual next GT itself.

I agree, I bet its just GT-HD thats was shown at E3, I really want to play RR7 though, should be good.

Correction: If RR7 is anything like RR6, it will suck. That being said, I'm hoping RR6 was just a way to piss off Microsoft or something to that effect, and that the series will return to it's roots (ie. Rage Racer and R4) for #7.

If RR7 is anything like RR6, it'll probably suck.

Didint play RR6, I played all the playstations titles from the begining, and played the PSP version, but no 360 version. Im a really big fan of the RR games, so if they make it anything like the PSP version, which im sure they will, as it had the same cars as from the PS3 trailer, then it will be good.

Well, RR6 on the X360 is pretty much the same thing as Ridge Racer on the PSP, except that progressing through the "career" mode or something is different. But, it has great graphics, and it runs at 60 FPS. If you ever buy a 360, you should definitely check it out.

I don't see the point of showing GT-HD again. It made the point at E3 that the PS3 can play games in 1080p (at least upgraded PS2 games anyway). It would make more of a splash if a new video of GT5 were shown. It's too early to expect a playable GT5 demo, I guess. I wonder what the other games are? Possibly Virtua Fighter 5 and Assassins Creed? It'd be great if Resi 5 turned up!

2 years have past since GT4 completion. they didn´t had the engine ready for E3 this year, but i think this time they will show the real deal. a trailer of GT5, then playable at the next (E3 or whatever is now) and then a release in christmas of 2007.

GT HD IS GT4, so there´s no point of showing an old game in high res

Trust me RR6 is better than what those guys are saying. Its better than the PSP version and that was a good game. Take it from a fan of the entire series. Its fun online too. Its great for fans, you love it or you hate it there is no middle. RR7 needs too offer more than RR6 did for me buy it, unless it comes out at $40 then its a buy.

There is a point if it turns out to be a game. I'd buy it if it had new content while waiting for GT5. I have an HDTV so i would rather play GT4 in full color 720p or 1080p rather than 16-bit collor 1080i.

Neither would I.

I'm guessing they will show some actual GT5 footage and just give them GT:HD as something to play on and nothing more. There doesn't have to be a deep reason behind it. I'd love to see a playable GT5 demo, but when we haen't even seen any GT5 footage yet, that's asking a lot.

Burnout did well and Farcry Instics preadetor were graphics upgrade people bought and enjoyed for 360. Just saying I would. But why do they keep demoing it is the real question I'd like to know.
