I expect pole to be in the high 28/low 29, to be honest.

It's really hard to get a balanced car here, though. Understeer going up the hill, snap oversteer going down.

Yeah, and when you are a no knowin' how to tune a car, non-drivin' newb like me, it's even more troublesome.

Don't know if I'll ever attain ya'll's skills with this game but I'm gonna give it a go.

I got a PB of 1:29.8 and consistant 30s in my brief test :).

Also it's the first time in ages that i've enjoyed hot lapping Laguna Seca :D.

i got a practice room open if anyone wants to run some laps:

Sorry. Would have come in but have been running the B-Spec seasonals and didn't see the post until just now.

How'd you do?

29.9 was the best today. breaking 1:30 will be the most realistic goal for me in qualifying

Room closed. Will be back later.

OMG!! Been testing 3 different tunes on this track. Of those three, one being the RKM tune, the last being the CSLACR tune, I have to say CSL's tune is by far the funnest of the three. I don't know if I'll be any faster with it but it's just so much fun. The @$$ end flicks out on almost any banked turn. The first time I hit the downhill section with cold tires the rear went out and a big ol $h!t eatin' grin :D 👍 sprang up. The hotter and more worn the tires get the more predictable the rear end becomes. Gonna run this tune some more and see if I can learn to drive it better. Already bettered my time by almost a full second

If any of you are having trouble staying connected, and haven't already figured/found out about this, I would like to offer the following recommendations;

If you can, set the DNS on your router to 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220. If you can't set or find the router DNS then go into the network settings on the PS3 and use the custom option and set it there. These are the OpenDNS.com public servers. I would be willing to bet most of you are already aware of this.

More importantly, in the network settings of the XMB, disable the Media Server Connection. After rebuilding my HDD I was unable to download the GT5 2.05 update. Tried rebooting the PS3 and resetting the router and modem, left every other network device turned off, still couldn't download the update. Hit google for some research and came upon a forum post here, changed the Media Server Connection to disabled and the download rolled. I would also like to mention that as long as I didn't have the PS3 media server software on my PC running when this setting was enabled, I would experience frequent and random drops from PSN. I have yet to experience this while it's been disabled.

Hope this helps anyone having trouble staying connected during the race.

I should be good to watch runs later tonight

Not expecting a big field at all.

I'm going to try and qualify later tonight. If nobody is on I'll just start caboose. Haven't run a single lap yet.

Putting the gt5 pre-install data on ps3 and will be on as soon as that's done.

I have no idea. I made the distance when I was still assuming that this would be the finale. If you guys want to trim it a bit, I can do that though.

Well at an average of 1:31 lap times, with pitting we'll probably be on track for around an hour and 15 minutes.

I ran a 10 lap stint to check tire wear and ran 1:30.5xx to 1:31.4's. Since we're doing the Grand Valley Enduro next weekend, I think putting this one below an hour might be best. I would go with 38 laps.

I'll start at the back if that's ok. TBH not really into this qualifying format. I'd rather see a 15 - 20 min qualy just before the race. Times noted. Grid forms. Race. Easier than this waiting to see if theres a steward around and usually, 9 times out of 10, there isn't. Don't get me wrong, this format does work, but not here.

But that forces me to cap the entries at no more than 16, and create a bs "reserve" list which I don't like at all.

I was a bit grumbly when I posted earlier. I do like running with you guys but I should just stick to GMT race series' I guess!

No, you're more than welcome here, man. Youve been here since the beginning ;)

Btw unless I can qualify now (after deadline) just put me as a reserve. :)

Mule,

Might as well put me down as provisional/reserve as well. Since I haven't been able to break into even the 32s I'll be at the back anyway.

Thanks.

Gonna get some practice in since I'm done with my shed project for the day. Will post room # when I get it open.

Couldn't find the Mic setting you said to disable but did kill the voice thing on the server front end. You want to test it so I know that's the setting you meant?

Cheers fella. Looks like most will be starting from the back. S'gonna be busy back there!

That's the other problem with having individual qualifying runs, and something I have experience with running FMSC. People that don't have time to do it during the week for some reason come in wanting to start at the back. Fine for 1-2 people, but when half the field does it, it can get quite frustrating for the person running the series.
