You have to physically pick Cedar Creek. If you didn't, then you just have a randomly generated track.

Just so everyone knows, we will be doing a 15 minute qualifying session before the race on Sunday for this week only. After that it's individual runs during the week.

Just making sure, I am a reserve driver for Team Crown Royal which means I'll show up if I can and a full-time driver isn't racing. But do I still have to qualify?

You'll be put on a waiting list to start at the back. Qualifying will only really be necessary if there's more than one room of drivers and you want to make room A.

I did pick the track from the My Tracks list. It appeared to be Cedar Creek.

What he said ^

Not that any of you will need it, but here is my APR (After Practice Report)

First time in this car and with ABS off, in any car. Been running ABS at 1 for a few months. Roughed in a tune on it and had the rear BB set higher than front. This was bad, very bad. Lowered BB front and rear to 2/1 respectively and it was much better. I could at least keep the nose pointed in the general direction of the track. Stock tranny settings and non-adjustable rear end. Which, I'm wondering, is the LSD mod acceptable to put on? Litchi and nateral say yes but would like confirmation. Ran a few laps this way and managed a 1:59.xxx but it was sloppy every lap so I figured the aliens and super aliens would be turning 1:45s and lower. This was a fairly accurate assessment since Litchi dropped in and promptly turned a 1:45.xxx in about 2 laps. Nateral was in as well and we had fun watching each other slide around before Litchi dropped in and destroyed our times.

This track (Cedar Creek) is nice and wide, so well suited for learning how to use the brakes without assists. I was improving slowly, learning the track, braking points and the car's acceleration and shifting points. 8 gears in this thing. With the stock tranny settings I was hitting 8th at the end of the front straight just before having to hit the binders and haul that thing down from around 150mph. It might have been higher but I was a bit busy dealing with T1 to see exactly.

After several more practice laps Litchi gave out some tuning pointers and I made some adjustments to include adding some shade tree engineering mods to my DFGT pedals. And since I have no illusions about attending GTA 2012 past round 8 I have no qualms about installing said mods and running with them for the foreseeable future. I've had a sponge installed under the brake pedal since about the second week of the last IWC and have now added the bungee mod. While prior to Litchi's intervention I was getting better at not mashing the brake with the weight of my big toe, the addition of the new mod made tons of difference in pedal resistance . Shoulda' done this weeks ago. Ran a few laps to get used to the new physical set up and then Litchi suggested we run some practice races. Fired it up and the three of us took off. I jumped the start and got the penalty, not sure if it's imposed on all racers or if they jumped it too or were just being gentlemanly about it but we all took off for turn one pretty much together. As expected Litchi took off after turn one, where I went sideways, Litchi slid out and bounced off me and while getting my car headed the right direction Nate passed me as well. So with the poor start out of the way, I set out to, if not do it right, at least do it better and set my goal to chasing down Nate. While him and I continued to make mistakes Litchi extended his lead. Nate went in to turn 1 a bit fast and I was able to get past without much drama. Litchi must have got bored up there all by himself and slowed some and once I caught up we ran a lap or two. I went wide in T13 (last turn?) and he could've passed me without much effort but think he was testing draft and stayed behind me.

The second race went much the same except I didn't ass up the start or mash the wall in t1 on the first lap. No, instead, I waited until t13 to be a doofus and drive it into the wall. Since there was no one else to race this go around, Litchi politely waited on the main straight for me to get squared away and headed the right direction again and I was chasing him once more.. Mostly with me trying to follow his lines and braking points. Not sure how hard he was trying but I did manage to pass him on the main straight but couldn't hold t1 and he took it back almost immediately. Tried it again on lap 4, was able to hold the lower line, but he carried more speed on the outside and I was unable to complete the pass. After a couple more mistakes during lap 4 which Litchi was gracious enough to allow me to catch back up we ran through lap 5 and he decided to dust me off and say bye bye.

Fairly certain Litchi was loafing during both but in the first race he did turn a 1:43.192 while my best was in the second race at 1:44.628. Expecting the super aliens to pull it down close to the 40s. We'll see.

Well time for this old fart to hit the rack. FMTC practice tomorrow. Should be interesting with the new pedal mod on hateful London.

I would recommend getting the new paddle shifters from GranTurgismo. (google it) Well worth what you pay for them. (I got mine free :D)

Anywho, the LSD is fine. Not sure why it's not stock on RM cars but I consider it to be, so go ahead with that. With this car I hate shifting all the time so I set up my gearing to use 7 gears max, mostly 6.

ADR_Bronco and I just ran some practice and a couple races. My fast lap in practice was 1'42.414 and I still feel like I'm learning the track. The racing was a lot of fun, one lap I think we were side by side almost the entire time. After tonight I'm really looking forward to Sunday.:D

Thought I'd post the old video of the first round of the original IS-F series here.
Be warned, it was captured with an old SD dongle and when I was recording headphones were off so I had no idea my background music was playing xD.

But it was a pretty awesome race, a classic in my eyes, between Minion and RT. Along with awesome battles all along the mid-pack with some familiar and not so familiar anymore face (this was Mule and Redreevos' first race with us btw, ahhhh good times):

And oh yeah, forgot I had Round 3 at GVS as well:

Thanks. Will add that in on both tunes I've been testing.

Those paddle mods look sweet and appear to be a good solution for out of range shift changes. Kind of leery of the adhesive mounting however. Yours ever come off? You get them from last GTA?

Nice practice report Dragon 👍

Well. I've wisely checked this post and i think there's an error or on the countown, or on the schedule because the countdown says that the event is sunday but the schedule shows that is Saturday (2-3 jun)...

EDIT:

Just found this. Means that i'm not able to make the pre season race cause I work early on Monday.
But i'm still confused with the schedule. Why are there 2 dates for each event?

I tested them out for the guy before they were released and got to keep them for it. The adhesive is really strong, they will not come off, guaranteed. (assuming you clean the wheel appropriately)

Pre-Season Race is Sunday mid-day (check the event info link). Then the rest of the races are Sunday nights at 5pm PST (U.S) Everything is explained in the OP. The events show a date on Saturdays for the official practice room.

There will be an official practice room on Saturday.

👍

Am I mistaken in the expectation of the Info sheet showing current event registrations? I've attempted to register for the event 3 times now and it doesn't appear to be updating on that page.

Put the bug in my son's ear regarding these. Maybe Father's day...:sly: Since he's the one that got me started with this addiction, it only seems fitting that he feed it.

I have to do it manually. So you're probably on my main list 3 times. :dopey:

Edit: Fixed.

Wow, was practicing on the wrong track for a couple days now and just realized it...

Moving on xD

Oh and RT, the times should be in EDT not EST.

Planning some practice late tonight. Anyone willing to crew chief for me (i.e. share a tune)?

Will it be legal to reduce downforce numbers while not touching the specified hp/weight (to make up the PP deficit)? I did a few laps last night to get a feel for things and the car felt rather barg-ish (understeery) in a lot of corners, particularly when exiting. Was wondering if we could possibly play with aero to get a more preferable balance.

Wanted to let you know I won't be able to make the pre-season , heading over to Miller Park to watch a Brewers game. I am hoping to make it back in time for the FMTC race.

That's fine. I may limit the room by HP/Weight numbers anyway.

@ Jay: I should be on tonight, but not until after the baseball game and whale wars are over, so it'll be pretty late. (early for you )

Depending on my schedule I could be interested, I'll let you guys know. Won't sign up until I know for sure, but I'm interested.

Yeah I'm watching whale wars first too so that's perfect.

Room closed. Bored and tired right now.

Sorry Jay, I needed to clear my head so I went for a drive. I'll definitely be on tomorrow though. We also have the official practice room coming up.

Practice Room

1472 - 6118 - 3615 - 5263 - 4971

Edit: I just left the room to Dragonwhisky, mule and timeattack. These official practice rooms are only scheduled for an hour. Left this one to those guys since it's pre-season, but from here on out they will only be open for that scheduled hour.
