I was on a forum where the banned members got an avatar that said "I couldn't play well with others so I've been banned!"

Can mods see people's IP addresses? And if someone has two accounts with the same IP address what will happen to their accounts?
Trade secrets shan't be revealed, but having two accounts is a no-no.

So the moment two accounts with the same IP is found they're insta-banned?
The less active one usually gets it, at least that's how it worked on some of the forums I've been on. I'm assuming it's pretty similar here.

And no, we don't believe for one second that right after you've been banned that your "brother" joined.

I actually do have a sister on this site. Have you guys ever "ACCIDENTALLY" banned someone that was borrowing another users computer?

I had something g similar happen once, I got banned from an online game because my brother was flooding the chat with garbage with calls lock on. Although we were using different computers, it was an IP ban, so I was punished for his actions.

First off, there are no accidents. ;)

Secondly, if someone is sitting at YOUR COMPUTER posting, if you don't trust them to not be an idiot, don't let them sit at your computer posting.

I was thinking more along the line:

"Hey, Carracerptp's IP just logged out then logged into another account only a second later... duplicate!!! PREPARE THE BAN HAMMER"

What if we go to a public place, say a McDonalds's in NYC and log in there. And then a different member travels to NYC and goes to the same McDonald's. prepare the ban hammer?

Why travel to NYC when there's a McDonald's on every corner? /AmericaJokes

Considering that was the first public wi-fi spot I hit when I went to NYC in September (and it was the one in Times Square), I feel like I can answer that; isolated incidents =/= long-term patterns.

Heck, I can't remember if the Manhattan Car Club had available wi-fi, but if it did, it would've meant @Jordan, @Terronium-12 and I all would've had identical IP's that night.

A one-off IP address is rarely enough to ban; especially if they have a good posting history to back it up.

There have been occasions where ten-or-so GTP members have shared my IP address.

What if someone hacks my account and starts to post things that gets me banned? Can you check the IP address to prove that it wasn't me?

Admins have full powers over the site. They can create entire subforums, and pretty much do practically anything.

Mods oversee the discussions and make sure everyone is observing the AUP.

Staff Emeritus, such as myself, are former staff members who no longer have any moderator powers. Staff come and go for various reason

Ah, I see. Thanks:)👍

You are responsible for all content posted under your account. If some gets into your account, you are still the one held accountable.

When in doubt, log out.

Two questions that shouldn't be all that hard:
  1. What is the plural form of "Emeritus"? Emerituses? Emeriti?
  2. How long has the longest Moderator, Super or otherwise, been a Moderator?

Why are there so many mods getting the sack lately? :D

I'm aware that they can ask to sit on the side line for a while.
