I had never heard of either of those guns, or the 5.45. According to the Wikipedia, it's based on Romanian variant of the AK? And that it is imported by Century Arms and:

Have you had any misfire or feeding issue at all? Also, is it made in Romania?

I like AK's, so this sounds very interesting. I'd probably go with the 7.62 though.

Yes they are made in Romania and I have gone through a lot of shells (1000+ rounds) with no issues yet. As far as getting the 7.62 I went with the 5.45 as you can actually afford to go out and shoot it. Like I stated earlier Russian army surplus 5.45 is around 300 bucks for over 2000 rounds that breaks down to around .11 cents a shot. There were issues with earlier versions of the rifle with jamming and the trigger but have been dealt with on newer models. Do some research on the 5.45 bullet and you will find it is a deadly destructive shot any more questions just ask.

The 5.45x39 was designed for use with the AK-74. The AK-74M is a modern variation of the AK-74 and is the Russian standard service rifle.

It's cool, but unless you can own the full-auto version, it becomes an unbelievably bulky handgun. With less recoil.

Show us something we could own! :dopey:

Well we got it for $50.

But would you rather have a Henry .22 or a sock for defense if somebody broke into your house?

Sorry to bring this up from so far back but guess what I have to defend myself? A hockey stick.... Or my lamp if needed. Who the heck associates a sock with defense ;)

When I just owned a Remington .22LR rifle, my go-to home defense weapon was a machete. Now days, I want a crowbar. If they had crowbar as a sidearm in MW2, I'd use it so much, I'll have FMJ for it. For sure.

Finally we went shooting again. Didn't realize it's been 6 months since we went shooting last.

I haven't done anything to the Glock(G17) or the 870 since I went shooting last. My main thing was to work on accuracy with my G17. Although I've always been decent(for a noob) with long guns, I couldn't hit nothing with handguns before. Last few weeks, I just worked some on gripping the gun correctly, and man, it's made a world of difference. Don't get me wrong, I still got a long way to go, but I can actually hit targets from 50+ yards now, even on the move, or going after multiple targets. Huge improvement, and serious confidence booster with my Glock. :D:tup:

I was the only one who brought a handgun, and we mainly just shot .22LR & 12-Gauge in addition to that. I of course have the 870, and other guys had the Benelli(Nova Tactical?) + Mossberg(590 Tactical, I think). I like mine the best, but only because of the Blackhawk stock on it(absorbs much 'kick'). Benelli has SWEET iron sights, and Mossberg shoots real fine, too.

I had some buckshot & slugs intended for Police use, so I used them up first. Recently, local Police shot a man with live 12-Gauge round by mistake. They meant to hit him with the beanbag round. The thing is, not only did the victim*rolleye* survive, he reportedly wasn't hurt that bad. Obviously, he just lucked out, but it didn't help my confidence in these Police 12-Gauge, as they also advertise "low-recoil" right on the packaging. So I used those up today. :D

Took handful of pics. I recharged the batteries, double-checked the lighting setting & everything, as I screwed up all the pics last time. This time, I just forgot to load the SD card in it. :ouch: Some of the pics I saved on the camera's internal memory:

One of these days, I'll get a handle on the digital camera thing, too!

I wanna rifle.

My Glock misfired for the first time today. But it was a bad bullet. It was out of $9.99 box of Federal 9mm I got at a gun show. I bought two boxes, and the box looked little worn, but the bullets looked fine? There are 50 rounds in the box, so I shot 100 of those today, and one wouldn't fire. I tried three times, before I gave up. Just glad it wasn't the gun, as when I was looking for my first "real" gun, I decided on Glock for its' reputation on reliability. Probably about 1,000 rounds fired through it now, just one misfire, no jam's, and no fault of the gun. I even shot some reloads in February, no problems. Very happy with my G17. :embarrassed: My buddy's .45 Glock wouldn't feed the reloads though. Maybe larger caliber one's are picky.

Damn it a6m5, now I wanna go shoot again.

Between the three shotguns, ignoring the Blackhawk stock on yours, which one was the best? What were some of the differences in how they shot?

I don't know if there is a best one? My personal pro's & cons would be like this:

870 - Pro: proven reliability, accessory availability, short barrel Con: Price

Mossberg - Pro: seems reliable, price, magazine capacity(I wanna say 9), easy access safety lever/switch Con: bead sight, length(slightly longer than mine)

Benelli - Pro: smooth operation, BEST iron sights Con: you really feel the kick

870 & Mossberg are very similar. Benelli looks weird, but if there was Knoxx stock for it, I might have gone for Benelli. I'm obsessed with reliability, so I went with the 870. It's been tried the longest. And I can't say enough about the Knoxx stock. I'd never buy another shotgun I couldn't fit Knoxx stock to.

Shotgun's are fun. You can change the load from bird shot(small bb's) to buck shot(larger) to slugs(1 big bullet). You can even get magnum loads, which has just ridiculous power. They are highly entertaining, and the best part, both the guns & shells are dirt cheap!

Glad you had a good time shooting, looks like some enjoyable weather to go outside in.

I personally would have tossed the cartridge. Whenever you have a failure to fire you risk lodging that bullet in your barrel, creating a mess that requires a good knowledge and tools or a trip to the gunsmith. :)

Dang, I did not know that. I think I did try to fire it total of three times, as I wasn't even sure what had happened the first couple of times. I'm gonna have to remember to chuck it next time. 👍

I won't even bother with a misfire. A misfeed, on the other hand, can be salvaged if the case isn't bent up too much. I had a single misfeed the last time I went shooting, which was probably my own fault in not fully seating every round in the magazine properly. I popped it back in, and it fired fine.

Update on the .22.......

The loading spring is all worn out and it jams a bunch. If you don't shoot the last round, usually you're alright. We just gotta find that spring.

Or you can get a Uzi. Even when jamming, it looks very cool. Especially when you got a foregrip on it!

Misfeed was only everytime with my first rifle. Remington 597. I read for the longest time that it was the early-gen. defective magazines. I bought the factory banana clip, and it fixed the problem, so I guess they were right. I just don't know how they put up garbage like that into the market. Do they not at least go through couple of clips to test them out or anything? 597 being my first gun, and only gun for the first few years, it drove me nuts. If 870 shotgun wasn't so reputable, I'd probably never have purchased another Remington. Thinking back, maybe I should have bought a Mossberg. Oh, well.

Qualified with the M-16 when I was in the Air Force...looks like if I get this police gig, however, I'm going to have to purchase my own handgun...decisions, decisions.

Those are fighting words!

When the Sig stove-pipes or you're wincing trying to pull the skinny, grinding, vague, DAO trigger on the 226/229...there really isn't much of a fight now is there?

Had a 226...didn't like it at all. After owning that gun for a couple years, buying & shooting my 1st HK was really a come to Jesus moment.

Your stove pipe jams mostly occur from faulty ammunition, very rarely does the gun play a factor. And as far as the DOA trigger it seems you either love it or hate it, I happen to like it although it did take me a while to get used to it.
I have put over a thousand rounds through my Sig and never had a stovepipe jam and only a few jammed cases, but that had more to do with bad ammo.

Or he could, you know, get an S&W M&P. Or a Glock. Or something from FNH. Or Beretta.

I thought I knew what my next gun was going to be, and now I can't decide. I want something I can carry, and I want a 1911, and now I want some sort of rifle, either a target rifle or an AR style .22 just to screw around with. A 9mm carry piece would be the most practical, the .22 AR would be the most fun, and the other two are somewhere in the middle. Stupid guns, they're like camera gear. Once you get started you just can't quit.

Edit:
I have no idea where you got your information but the 226/229 are both DA/SA pistols.

I have considered a FNP-9. Reading reviews on the weapon, the SIG Sauer P226 seems to be FNH's inspiration for the weapon.

SIG Sauer makes P226 and P229 models that are double action only. The SIG DAO system is called DAK.

SIG Sauer P226 DAK

SIG Sauer P229 DAK
