I have a question about car pack installation. Caved in and got the Car Pass actually. At this point, I'm not sure if it qualifies as an issue. More of a concern I think:

After the content update, I see the Ferrari 488 popping up in the Buy Car menu with "DLC" next to it. I click on it, and decide to purchase the Car Pass. I get a message that says your car is on the way and being installed, something along those lines.

Though just seconds later I see the word "free" next to the 488 GTB, so I go right ahead, purchase it and start checking it out in Forza Vista. Then I want to test it out so I pick a track, but something seems off at in the menu where you select 'start race' and see a preview of the track and your car. The GTB's rear wheels look funny, like they've been punched in by a foot and a half! I said to myself that can't be right.

I quit the game and go to the manage game options, going by a hunch - it said 'ready to install' under the six car packs. That's rather odd as all 42 cars were available to purchase shortly after I got the pass. Anyway, I install all of them, go back to the game and the 488 GTB looks okay in the 'start race' preview screen. Phew!

It was probably not showing up correctly due to not being installed I suppose. The cars are nice in the new pack, they all sound exciting, though I was a bit disappointed with the GTB's sound - it sounds rather dull compared to the 458 and 458 S. Do you think I'm missing some data on the car that's not making it sound right? Because the Ferrari was the only car I checked out in FV prior to installing the packs from the 'manage game' screen.

I know it's a silly question to ask but I'm getting a bit paranoid here! Could someone possibly post a gameplay vid of the GTB? I want to make sure mine sounds right. It just doesn't sound as exciting as the other Ferraris.

Thanks for reading my boring post. Sorry, it is lengthy. I just wanted to explain things properly and know your thoughts. New to Xbox. Thanks!

@Daffyboo - Every review I've read on the real 488 says it doesn't match the 458's sound. Such is the way of turbo engines, it seems (though Mercedes-AMG have seemingly ignored that).

There shouldn't be an issue with installing the cars: all DLC cars are included in each monthly title update, so technically, the Car Pass is just unlocking them. Provided you let the game install the update normally, it should be fine.

It's a safer approach than what they did last gen: DLC packs were truly "optional", so those that didn't have the cars would see a blacked out Jetta in place of other players that did.

I appreciate the prompt response.

I can hardly hear the turbos on my 488 and it is rather quiet compared to the 458s.

Yes, I did let the game do the 398 meg content update prior to purchasing the Car Pass. Just found the 488's sound uninspiring, being the cover car of the latest pack.

Read this at the official forum:

"It produces a different sound than you may be used to hearing from previous prancing horses, but it is nonetheless a wonderful and exorbitant noise that propels the 488 more efficiently than its predecessor".

Maybe the developers were getting us ready for this: 'the 488 does not sound as exciting as the 458'. Lol!

The reason why it says the different car packs are ready to install under file management is because they are bundled with the car pass. However, since the content update already has taken care of installing data and the car pass of unlocking the content, the individual car packs are merely optional or redundant. You did buy them after all, so it makes sense they are there to manage. I'm sure it would have worked out after the restart even if you didn't install them manually. It doesn't hurt to install them manually though, which I always do for the sake of coherence. The issue you experienced might only have been a case of poor programming in relation to purchasing DLC from within the game.

Well, that's good to know. How are you finding the 488's sound? Did Ferrari make the turbos quiet on this model? The downshift sound is somewhat weak. But its a game after all and alot of fun to play. I saw a YT video of the game's 488 and the turbos sounded more pronounced. Maybe the guy had upgrades installed.

What happens if I unistall this pack? Do I get to reinstall it? I'm a noob at this and probably just being paranoid.

I'm pretty sure you got the same cars everyone else did. 👍 I wouldn't worry about uninstalling it and reinstalling it unless your really having some major issues. Upgrades may make it sound different, I haven't tried it yet. There's been a lot of people saying it doesn't sound right. Maybe they will fix it, maybe they won't.

Cool.

The Car Pass unlocks some pretty nice cars. The C63's exhaust and turbo is mean as heck. :mischievous:

Honestly, I'd have to reacquaint myself with what the Car Pass covered in FM4, because while a lot of us hold that up as the gold standard, FM6 has been seriously impressive. Yes, it's 7 cars versus 10, but considering they're almost always completely brand-new to the series, I'm okay with that.

I'd say the FM6 content has been better in the racing department, personally, as it's filled out some quality series. There's a few duffers scattered amongst the road cars, too (the Polo GTI, blech, and those awful custom cars in February). The January, March, and April packs were my favourites, but all for their road cars, and really, only about half the contents. Obviously others will have different tastes, though.

Wow...I never realized how much recycling/cloning they did in FM4 for the DLC. Makes me appreciate FM6's DLC even more.

Agreed 100% Slip. I think both car passes are great but FM6's is more quality over quantity.

My theory is that we'll start seeing cars return from Forza 4 in the packs following the car pass, and not all cars in those packs will be 'new to the franchise'. A mixture like the latter part of FM5's DLC (and FH2's DLC). There are too many fantastic cars from 4 that still aren't in 6 yet (I'm looking at you, Sesto Elemento, 300SEL, etc etc etc)

Random complaint:
All front bumpers/spoilers should have adjustable aero.

Sucks when you find a car with a nice body kit or wing but you can't tune it, especially the Non-Forza race front bumpers/spoilers.

The new car pack is fantastic as always.

I just have to say I'm regretting more and more that I didn't buy the Silvia when it was available. I really didn't expect they'd wait this long to release it for real, if they even plan to at all.

Indeed, I'm guessing the rumored Japanese Expansion back was delayed due to licensing issues, or if AC is being honest (and I see no reason they wouldn't be) licensing cost.

Apparently it's twice as much as Lemans?

I do like how the S14 has sort of become a running gag here :D, I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for it :P

But yeah, I do like how open minded we are to Cars of all shapes and sizes and will give anything a chance whether it has 1000 bhp or just 30.

I wonder if these other so called Forza fans even actually like Cars.

The truth is I would have no problem with the S14 being in the game if people didn't act like spoilt brats about it and throw their toys out of the prom when the car that has only existed for 5 minutes isn't in the latest pack.

So yeah, if what I hear about the main forum is true, I'm avoiding it like it was covered in swine flu.

Roll on the Top Gear pack, hopefully may get some others before they Ford Focus attention to Horizon 3.

I can see Oliver, the Top Gear North Pole HiLux, a Rover Vitesse and possibly a Morgan. Thing is, what cars would the new TG cast think should be in the game? Chris Harris(on cars, not in TG) did drive an M4 DTM. ;)

As long as the 'Other Chris's' white abominations are not included !!

I never understood why the S14 is the most wanted. What does it exactly benefit other than just being like every other car? I love all cars from every type, shape, and the fact that you can drive them, whether they're old or new. :) T10 has really nailed the DLC with FM6 perfectly.

Doesn't March mark the end of all DLC car packs for F6? I was under the impression that these 6 packs, aka. Car Pass, were it.

So they are going to charge people even more money for more cars in future. Hmm, interesting.

The Car Pass is only good for these 6 packs?

Yes.

I was so bored with the old format and don't think i'll bother with the Chris Evans show this time round either. I never wanted to see a show just about reviews of bland cars but neither did i ever want to just see 3 blokes just pretending to get into scrapes or break down or bump into each other...
I still think there are people out there who think its not all set up for comedy value....

There is no Top Gear without Clarkson, Hammond and May
This^^^^ 100%. I used to watch that show religiously. It will never be as good, ever. So I won't even bother. I definitely didn't bother with the Clown act American version. That was just, bad. I don't care if Tanner Foust is a great driver or not, he's still a :censored:bag.
