Rinsky's 2021 MSN / Rinsky's 2022 Final Tour Archives

Don't what season season your referencing. You won 8 regular season races last season. And 4 of them were Gr.3 races. Jarkulary ran the Gr.3 Corvette last. And you finished 5 of the 6 Gr.3 regular season races ahead of Jarkulary.
Ah, last season where I found out that nothing was comparable to the Vette on ovals (at least from what I discovered) when we had an oval race and I got my clock cleaned driving the RSR??

The weird thing about this upcoming Tokyo track is that I can't get the Vette to turn in like it usually does. Normally under trail braking the Vette will point its nose to the apex when it is ready to turn under trail braking, I can't seem to get the car to feel right here, it must be the shape and speed of the corners. The one just before the S's has that little kink so the car is not real stable on intial braking so that turn I understand the odd feeling but the other braking turn I would think would feel usual. Have any ideas Wags??

Suuuuuck😒 I wish I would have known. Is it freezing everywhere or what🤔 We are having mid 20s in So. Oregon. I'll definitely be up for any time Mondays, Sundays a 50/50 depending what HQ has going on. Not sure if I'm making it for Tokyo. Wife has visitation rights every other weekend🤣 which made Rinsky perfect for me. I'll see if I can massage her a little, maybe get to chop the wood😉🤗🤣
Yea, wont make it tonight, HQ over ruled. I have a couple hours and will open a spa room in a bit.

That's way I was surprised you would choose the Corvette. With the road course BOP probably the big weakness for both Gr.3 Corvette and Viper is they don't like long duration corners. Though I feel Viper maybe a tad worse off. My guess it's because of the big heavy front engines that cause the cars to understeer throughout long corners. You can combat some of it with some rear brake.

Hello gentlemen. I'd like to give this a go. Raced with Rinsky in the past.

Could you get me in?
Last minute entries are fine. We run friends only rooms. So thank you for your friend request. Makes my job a little easier.

Since your profile says your in Texas.
So your either Central or Mountain time. So for you room opens by 5:30 pm CST or 4:30 pm MST. Race / Qualifying starts 6:45 pm CST or 5:45 pm.

Last 4 races are all Gr.3 class. There no car model restrictions this season. So you may pick whatever car you want.

See you in a few hours.

Next Race

2/12/22, 90 Minutes of Spa-Francorchamps
6. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
Gr.3, 90 Minutes, Qualifying 10 Minutes
Daytime 11:00 Rain (Heavy Wet), Grid Start
Fuel x3, Tires x7
Fuel at Start 96%
Gr.3 Tires: RI, RW

Our Valentine Weekend to remember has arrived. This is a 90 minute heavy wet race at the famous and historical Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

The series significance of race comes from few. Spa was series creator Rinsky's favorite race track. When this race track was added to GTS. It was quickly put on the schedule. If remember right it was the 2nd last race of our 2019 season. Our 2nd Gr.4 only season. When we added the Gr.3 class to the series for the 2020 season. Spa-Francorchamps was ran that season as the 2.4 hour season finale. Both of these Spa races were in the dry conditions. This series has seen a heavy wet race Red Bull Ring with the Gr.4 class. And a light wet race at Tokyo Expressway East Outer Loop last season with the Gr.3 Class.

Out of the 7 layouts available in GTS that can be raced the wet. Spa-Francorchamps has the most dramatic change of the way the track drives in the wet vs the dry. In the dry conditions this track fast and flowing. And you kind of want to attack the course. Spa-Francorchamps in the wet is slow and very slick. And demands patience and respect out of driver. You can expect lose of on average 25 - 30 seconds off your dry lap times.

This will be our last traditional 90 minute race. I chose to run this race with as a Gr.3 class race so nobody can show up in a 4WD. No I'm not evil, were would you get that from. Hey at least you get the advantage of knowing it's going to rain. Real drivers might not get that luxury.

This race will likely be a race of mistakes. Low average speed from the rain means a short distance race. It also means less of a lose to cars on track. I believe completing this race in only 1 or 2 fuel stops possible.

Oh and you may want to adjust your brake setting. Good luck! Ah ha ha ha!

Fun race last night. Great drive from @QTip8329Wags your pace was solid all race. It’s a shame I under fuelled at the 3rd shop, but it was only due to the pressure you had me under, I managed to panic myself thinking I was making 1 too many stops. It would’ve been a good battle to finish the race on but overall I think your pace was just that little bit better than mine, the McLaren turned out to be a thirsty girl which added even more pressure. Great drive anyway, a well deserved win, sorry for stealing your fastest lap at the end but I needed something to cheer me up a little :cheers:.

@Cold Warrior not sure how I’m feeling about a 90min wet race in the middle of the night so I will likely skip the next one.

I wish I had the opportunity to race with you guys a little, I'm sure I could have found a little more racing with someone. I managed a 1:33.2 but that was still a good bit off of fast lap but I did have some purple 1st sectors mid race.

Why was my car in reverse at the start of the race, WTF Polyphony, I have seen that happen more that once. Luckily I caught it before I backed into anyone. I apologize to Coldwarrior if I cut him off in the first couple of laps, due to my car starting in reverse I thought everyone had passed me so I was kinda just following everyone until things sorted a little.

I had a great final stint with RHCpeppers last night. I decided to poke the wall at the chicane 2 laps after my final stop with about 20 seconds gap, I stopped for repair only and came out 5 seconds behind RHCP with 12 to go. We were running almost the same laps, I managed to run a couple of personal bests and gain on him, I think he suffered more than I did with tire wear and I just managed to get by with 2 laps left. Great racing RHCP!!!

Hopefully I can make my decision to run the RSR pay off at Spa, it seems a little easier to drive in the wet at Spa and I couldn't find any lap time difference between the Vette and the RSR at BMB. I was slightly slower at Tokyo in the RSR than the Vette, hopefully I can make my decision pay off.

Yh that was a shame your pace was good too. I wondered what happened at the start, I had a 5 second gap before we even got to the hairpin.
33.2s is good pace, I think I was mostly mid to high 33s. My fastest lap only came because I had run out of fuel, I pit with 1 lap to go so I put fresh boots on to see how fast I could go flat out with low fuel.

Actually going the Fuel mileage forum of what's been chosen so far. You McLaren 650S gets best Fuel mileage. The difference between the best and worst car on fuel mileage in Gr.3 isn't as big as it in the Gr.4 class.

That Corvette is one least Fuel efficient cars in the class. As we discovered from late week at. QTip8329Wags is really good at Fuel management while still keeping pace. The Gr.4 Corvette is good to run 5 laps flat out at Sarthe on x3 fuel setting. He managed to 7 Laps run 7 Laps out of the car and still was the fastest car on track.

Oh, don't be a weenie. Come and enjoy the self torture like everyone else. Your only 2 points behind QTip in Gr.3 Championship. If you can make the last 3 races. You have at shot the Gr.3 title.

Also I'm running a different livery on the Viper every race. The at Spa is my all time favorite on the Viper and was made by Mindesigner.

Yeah I meant ask to about that incident at the start. I went and you didn't. I had to slam the brakes. I stop to close get it around you without backing up. So I had to wait for to get going. That could real ugly if I reacted any later.

Oh for slight bit of extra motivation for you'll to attend every race. I will be running a different livery on the Viper every week. Three will be borrowed replicas. One is an original.

The livery I ran at Tokyo should be familiar to those who played Gran Turismo 2. It was ran on a Viper that competed for a few years in Japanese Grand Turismo Championships (JGTC) now known today as Super GT.

Next weekends livery should also be familiar to those who have played Gran Turismo 2. And it's still the best replica I have seen so far made by former driver @mindesigner. This one is still my all time favorite Viper livery since seeing it in GT2. And is fitting for a race in Europe.

Aye Qtip did a great job, he would’ve caught me and likely passed me anyway.
I was only short on fuel because I screwed up my 3rd pit and only took 11 laps of fuel. I then couldn’t save enough to make the difference back up without losing a lot of time to them. In hindsight I could’ve done a better job but it’s easier to say that now. The biggest issue was the speed difference, I could only match the corvettes top speed by revving out in 5th but I didn’t have the fuel to do that.
It was more a shame that we lost the chance to battle more than the actual result, my mistake took that out of the race and sealed the result. It was still a good race, the Tokyo tracks have great flow for longer races.

I don’t mind wet races, it’s just 90mins of it in the middle of the night isn't as appealing as a dry race, we’ll see how I feel.

Yeah, it's never fun driving as slow as you can.

The fuel mileage is deceiving. You can short shift most cars and it loses only a little lap time but will save massive amounts of fuel. With the Vette the moon and stars line up just right for short shifting because the car is fastest when shifting at about the middle of the rev bar where you also happen to get the best mileage. The thing I noticed Wags doing with the Vette was rolling thru the corners in higher gears, it surprises me that he is getting the car to turn so well, most cars like downshifting to a numerically lower gear because it plants the nose nicely at the apex, kind of like how trail braking affects the car. I don't know what everyone else drives with but I have a Fanatec wheel with V3 load cell pedals. I have a hard time finding intermediate throttle positions, its like you either lift too much or not enough. I wish we could set our own throttle graph on our units.

If I wasn't still inexperienced manual shifting. I haven't learned how to identify when I can short. Sadly I might be able to use some of these techniques with the Viper. What I have struggled the most with is learning when and not to downshift.

@Kermit_2142 I was wondering why you pitted so early, I think two laps early on the first stint. You did the reverse of me, heavy at start, lightest at end. Did 15,15,14 and 13 lap stints which was a little worrying with the extra .6-.7 laps of fuel needed to make the half lap from the pits. Finished this race and the last at Sarthe on 0.0 fuel level. Still, well done. I was pushing and chasing all race. As for the 5 second gap at start, I didnt want to roast my tires keeping up with you and @Racer283 so I tried saving them the first lap.
I wish I had the opportunity to race with you guys a little, I'm sure I could have found a little more racing with someone. I managed a 1:33.2 but that was still a good bit off of fast lap but I did have some purple 1st sectors mid race.
@fastone371 Nice! Sector 1 is where you can save a lot of time and tire by hitting T1 right. 2, 3 and 4 stream together with very little throttle modulation. Almost every lap, I would lift and shift up into 5th for turn 4 before the downhill access ramp to the hairpin to save the tires and keep from pushing wide on exit.

YES! Short shift at a low to mid point. Go into your garage, select your car and go to tuning. There is a power vs. torque graph like a static dyno tune. You can see what RPM you need to use based on that graph. No need to be at peak shifting torque, just make sure you are in the torque range and don't drop below it or over-rev too far above it. Only rev it out if it takes more time to shift up then back down for the corner, unless fuel os a concern then don't over rev at all. Just make sure you have BoP turned on to see what we use in the race, not the stock number of 100 weoght and 100 power.

I can understand your wanting to battle but when I saw you exit slightly wide after the chicane and drop 1 second, I managed to breathe for the first time during the race. There is always a chance to battle the next 3 weeks.

This league is so much more enjoyable, more fun, than Sport Mode and the F.I.A. stuff. You should win Spa in an MR layout but I won't let up either.
