Rinsky's 2021 MSN / Rinsky's 2022 Final Tour Archives

No head games, all honest sharing but whatever. Ran a 1.22.100 on RS with half tank and TC 1. Guess I'm done sharing tips. Everything posted is honest and if you remember, I ran that entire practice before the race and posted my fastest times with everyone there. Enjoy the race, I'm going to go back to struggling for consistency without help. Smilie face.
Does this mean you won't help me. I was going to ask you gear suggestions for turns 9 and 10 by real life count.

Really??? I put smile faces after my post for a reason, maybe you need glasses or maybe you are just a ....
If I didn't really want anyone to know my lap times I wouldn't be in a public lobby running laps. If anyone didn't notice there were smile faces after every post I made about you sharing my lap times.
CW this may be news to you but it's only a game, at the end of the day there is zero reward for anything we do or do not do in these races, chill out Francis. :):):)

Hey, that's me☝🏼🤣🤣🤣
ThisFuknSux guy🤨😒 Texting is the worse thing that has happened to human communication🧐 Words don't convey emotions so it's up to the reader to ASSUME they know what the writer was thinking at the time🙄🙄 It's far to easy to misunderstand what a stranger means because we don't know how they communicate. I have some funny💩 but if you didn't know me/hear my voice, it would be easy to offend someone. It's why there are so many emojis in my posts, I can VERY EASILY be taken the wrong way. Even w/emojis my wife still can't figure it out🙄😘 We had some good friends that were constantly arguing thru texting🙄 and they were always misunderstanding each other. Ultimately to much was said and divorce papers were thrown on the table🤨😒 She is smoke'n hot too, some nice tig Ol' bitties🤗😉🤫🤣

I'm not digging the intense feelings from the last dozen or so posts🤨😒😒 We have been racing together for 6months, CW&Fastone, I get the feeling you guys have been racing together for awhile. Lets not have the season ending race and the end of Rinsky League end on this note. You 2 have awesome etiquette, there's no need to ruin the friendship over something that will be meaningless tomorrow. I competely understand both sides. The problem is we are not team mates on a race team where you would share setups/tips among eachother. If we were a tuner league, I would see things different because you would need to know how to set up your car to make that lap time. But since we're a No Tune/BoP league, fast laps belong under the vest. That's both sides for me. GT7 will be here in a week. You guys will take a break, maybe, and get back together when CW gets his GT7 league set up. Maybe have a little etiquette section warning against things like this🤔??

IMO a few tuner races would force people to know how to tune to get a faster lap. Make it a 1/2 point race because not everyone gets tuning. It's the other part of the sim. Before I had to stop racing😡😡(raced GTR) I had a 5 car race team. I tuned for the team and we all practiced together. I used Motec i2 pro for telematry so tuning was always spot on for the individual driver. 5 car trains running laps around Watkins Glen or Indy In-field etc.🤗🤗, 3x/week, it was the best racing exp I've had. I messaged the Dash Panel app devs about getting a GT7 dash added but I guess GT doesn't export telemetry anymore. If we can get GT devs to release GT7 telematry, I would dig tuning a couple cars for you guys😉🤓

FYI: Don't be dumb💩's, Fastone is faster than he may appear😉 it's in his name🤫🤣🤣🤣 Don't let him sandbag you Qtip🤓 Best of luck🍻

I was aware he was kidding but, I'm not sure QTip8329Wags realized this. I would have suggested the Porsche or VW Beetle to Yard_Sale anyways. Because I'm the fool who likes to help people have a good time. The fool part comes in with realization that I'm pointing out better rides to a driver that is better than me.

Both @fastone371 and @Racer283 came during of our first season at some point. I have old race photos of them racing in our first race season finale race.

As a pain in the butt as he can be sometimes. Fastone371 has been more loyal to me than I would ever expect anyone to be. Including participating in my Supercar league of which he doesn't like. Which was a very difficult series some may viewed as a form of volunteered torture. It's because of this he will be one of my first to contact about any my future events or league in Gran Turismo 7. Though he say he doesn't like the Vipers sound. So a Mmm...

Wait your saying Fastone371 bet the 1:22.212. My best times are still in the 1:24s. Then again he's already racked up 2 more for Porsche's virtual wins. There a reason why they win everything.

Not to worry Mr. Wags, if I have allegedly run a 1 22 I'm sure it was on new RSS and a flashing fuel light.
I thought when I said the above people were goin g to realize it was all in jest, we all know that RSS are not permitted.

No I didn't realize it was in jest but no matter. I'm not myself, work has me in knots and I'm tense 80% of the time now. Got on with the idea of posting "Lobby Open" but after reading all that I wasn't in the mood. Really couldn't make it around the track more than 5 or 6 laps without binning it hard. All of it adds up and I couldn't sleep so...Youtube.

Then I found this gem...

Watched it for at least 40-45 minutes and it told me everything I needed to know. After that, still couldn't sleep so I stayed up until 2 a.m. running laps, binned it, then went to bed. Today, in group practice, was the first sub 1,22.000 lap time that was managed in the past 3 days. All the kilometers in the activity log for Thursday, Friday and Saturday were all at Laguna Seca. I am a...but don't remind me.

Thank you for an awesome season and awesome races every time.

Sorry about the corkscrew pass. Went for the old "Jeff Gordon Special" around the outside left to the inside right. Kept setting it up and backing out of it for about 3 laps then you went wide and dropped a tire. The draft up the hill was all I needed to get beside you but I don't know what happened after that. I don't think we touched but I also don't think you saw me until I was at your door.

At lap 86-ish my wheel overheated and shut off on me. Scrambled for the DS4 to find it was dead. Found the cord, plugged it in and managed not to lose the lead somehow.

Since I have asked others. What do you do for a living?

Never would have guessed that self help videos would help that much in racing. Being such a hands sport.

You take this more seriously than I do. I feel bad to have to remind you their is no prize for this season except for bragging rights.

Currently, I work at a Kia dealership and am responsible for new car deliveries, paint sealing and used car, trade-in details to be resold or sent to auction. However, I'm contracted through a detailing company and that company isn't playing ball. Can't pay student loans off with fun money. It is still "under-the-table" and I was supposed to be on the books January 1st. Told the guy when I started that I want to be taxed so I can pay loans off but still nothing.

As for using videos...START DOING IT!!! I highly recommend it because you can find the racing lines few people use, where to avoid areas or how to adjust based on the time of day or ambient temperatures. Those laps guides really helped with braking and apexing the corners.

The 2019 race commentators mention everything one would need to know for the race in the first 40 minutes. The biggest thing being something like, "...maybe you would think that the track has more grip but when the sun is low, the track is much cooler and this track is already notorious for being a low grip circuit in the best conditions."...or something along those lines and the commentator said this about 40-45 minutes into the race. I paraphrased it because I don't remember the exact wording but that was pretty much it.

After that, I made some changes; switched to a folding chair for stability(ouch), started rolling the car more through the corners, only brake in the straightest lines possible, turning in to T11 to hit the inner apex then straddling T11 apex on exit to widen the exit, trailing and double apexing T1, hitting T3 right and using TC1 to save what little tire there was. Still kept missing the line for the corkscrew but I was able to keep it in the lines all except for one time where it gave me a .5 sec penalty for track limits by taking too much curb on the right hander due to under-braking.

I'm not here for prizes either. Racing is my dream. It's also really expensive. No matter what mood I am in, deep down, I love racing with all of you and because of everyone since the 2019 series, I have improved massively. Being without an ISP for almost two years, I practiced a ton off line with the idea of trying to re-learn things and break bad habits. The memory of Whiteflight always kicking our butts in 2019 really pushed me to get better. @Cold Warrior Seriously, thank you for keeping this series alive.

A Kia Dealer interesting. Sorry to hear your having payout problems. Can you pay off the student loans by filing the taxes yourself? Not paying taxes could also effect your retirement later in life too.

I'm aware of what the record holding line is at Sarthe and I'm still slow. Apparently talent is needed with the videos.

By the way I sure most people don't know this but, track officially counts the kink before the Andretti hairpin as turn 1. The hairpin is turn 2. The kink between turns 4 and 5 is not counted. The the right hand kink right before the corkscrew is turn 7. The famous corkscrew is counted as one corner turn 8 and 8a.

And don't worry T8 is one those turns that the even professionals mess up. Both the a blind entry and exit. You don't know you screwed up until you go over the 2nd Hillcrest. Who designs a Chicane where you drive off a cliff anyways. It's like the track designers got stuck up on the hill and somehow a Chicane at the worst place possible became their best solution to get down.

I saddens me to end this series but, it doesn't seem right to continue Rinsky's series onto GT7 without Rinsky on broad. I unfortunately don't think he's coming back either. Neither of he's accounts have Playstation Plus anymore.

I have ideas future ideas of my own but, need to see what I can all do with GT7 first. And build up my car collection a little so I can test out events 1st. I also really hope they bring back the in game community services like in GT5 and GT6. Made running leagues a lot easier.

Oh I forgot to mention in my last reply. Laguna Sega was to be repaved after last year's IndyCar race. They said before the race that track surface was so worn that it barely had more grip than dirt around the track. From our very recent experience I agree. You hardly noticed the difference between the track and dirt. I hope Gran Turismo rescans the track so we can see what it's like after in repave. I doubt with all Covid restrictions they were able to get over here to rescan the track.

I've mentioned going to Laguna every year for the Rolex series when I lived in the Bay Area. We always sat at the corkscrew so when you start your desent, you would see me drinking BEER and waving🍻🙋🏼‍♂️🤣🤣 Every race (there are support races too) at least 1 car will blow it and end up in front of us waving back at me🤣🤣🤣 If you guys ever get a chance, the series is in mid may, [another in Sept./Oct.]the tickets [were] cheap as hell for 3day, ALL access pass. They finally graded the hill above the left hander after the corkscrew, so camping/glamping is easy too. I'm not sure if they still do it, but for $100 (given to local charity) you can take 2 laps... pace car keeps you for being a jack-ass, but I got up to 80 on the main straight. There are owners of Ferrari's, Lambos, old school muscle cars, classics all doing laps with you. I wish cell phone had video back then🤨 🤔🤔A GoPro would be cool too.

Sorry to bail on the race, SuperFknBummed about it😒😒 You're all sandbaggers🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 When I saw 1:24/1:25s I thought I would actual have a race, but some jackass had to go and do 1:21s🤨🤣🤣🤣👍🏻🍻 💩I don't know how you guys kept that pace w/o eating tires. It didn't matter what tires I had, L6 between T4-T5 my tires would deg to the point of blowing corner entry. So I had to pit every 5laps or jeopardize screwing someones race by missing my line/entry/exit etc. I decided at L30🤔, I was 5+min behind and would only be in the way of someone eventually😒😒
I didn't get a replay; whoever I was next to that first lap or so, I would have given the position to you eventually because of what I just explained☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼 I wanted to make you work for it a little and see if you could take it back first😉🍻🍻 You would have by L5🤣🤣🤣🍻

Nice meeting all of you. Totally dug hanging out and racing with Rinsky👍🏻 You guys are so good looking I may get GT7🤣 and join any league you put together @CW👍🏻🍻 The race leader needs some to catch too🙄😆😆 I'm going to focus on Assetto Corsa for a little while. I'm up for practicing or a pop-up race in GTS or Asseto Corsa if anyone wants to put a race together or just chase the rabbit😒😁😁

If anyone is still racing on GTS, I have a group on Tuesday nights that races a different car each week. As of now we will continue on GTS for a while before we all switch to GT7. Feel free to join us Tuesday at 9PM MST and check out Car of the Week Thread. We have a good range of driving abilities in the group, so you'll always find someone to race with.

Anyone who still wants race with me. As of now I should be will available Tuesday and Wednesday this. I unfortunately have no choice now but, to delete Gran Turismo Sport of my hard drive in order to make room for Gran Turismo 7. My extra 2 TB external hard drive died on me last week. I now only have 500 GB internal hard drive for all my storage needs. Since GTS takes up about a ⅓ of my storage. With GT7 only being slightly smaller than GTS at launch. So GTS has to go or I won't be able to fit anything else on my hard drive.

Details Brother👍🏻 Do you have a thread to read about the league somewhere🤔 I'm not into the same car racing but I'll check it out for some racing fun.

One make racing can be really fun if done correctly. You should check it out if available. He told me the series runs at 9 pm Mountain Time on Tuesdays. I'm unfortunately am usually eating dinner during that time of day since I live the life of a night owl by choice.

If you click on my COTW signature, it will take you to the thread.
Great and I found the thread the hard way. Wish I saw that sooner.

Since the thread doesn't have a lot of info. If I can make it this week. To confirm is the 2015 Honda Civic this week's car? Also is there any other rules for I should know about.

There is no guarantee I can make it yet but, I don't want to start any fires if do?

Racer usually posts the car that we're testing that week late tonight or early tomorrow. Its not so much of a league... more of a social club. Like this series, my personal involvement is sparse at best. But I still love testing the cars of the week on my own. @XSquareStickIt is a very talented racer, and an even more talented writer (as are most of the COTW cadre). His masterpieces start at page 55 or so. Reading that thread is a good way to spend an evening, have a few laughs, and kill a bottle of wine in no particular order of course.

You guys would dig it...

His masterpieces start at page 55 or so. Reading that thread is a good way to spend an evening, have a few laughs, and kill a bottle of wine in no particular order of course.

You guys would dig it...
Sadly this is the only week I will be able to join. If you didn't read above. Due to the death of my external hard drive last week. I absolutely don't have room for both GTS and GT7 on my internal hard drive. So I will have delete GTS from my hard drive to install GT7.

I have posted yet but here is a little hint for tomorrow. It is one of the poster cars for GT7.

Oh a secret thing. I have every car in GTS. Nothing picked will be a problem for ownership. That being said. I have to be up early Tuesday. I might get too tired already to drive anything high end safely at that time of day.

Ferrari
IMSA Lap Guide
ACC Track Guide

First congrats on your win and the championship. I guess I shoulda spent more time practicing. We didn't touch at the corkscrew, I just lost the rear of the car. Every lap thru the corkscrew is a controlled crash in the Porsche, the rearend is constantly sliding there even under light throttle which normally plants the rear, it must be rear engine thing. I wasn't going to try to hold you up but I also wasn't going to move over and let you thru. It's a long race and I had just planned to run my normal line as long as you were not beside me, if you only have your nose at my rear tire I don't consider that "being beside someone" and I'm still taking my normal line hoping that I don't get spun. I always knew where you were, I use radar and I keep an eye on the gap, when the gap closes to a couple of tenths I pay a lot of attention to the radar, it has served me well so far. I pitted on lap 83-84 to try to get fast lap, I had run back to back 1:22.0 but the next lap had to pass a car and then tire wear was too much. All I needed was 2 1/2 hundredths for fast lap. Your wheel must have died when I pitted for tires only, I had enough fuel and tires to make it to the end,, I'm guessing I would have passed you if I didn't pit. Just as well though, it would have been a crappy way to get a victory in the end anyway. I think I would have needed fast lap and pole too to get the championship, not sure. But I would rather have a good competitive race and finish in the top half of of the field than to win every race by a lap. It's the wheel to wheel that makes great racing.

Thank you, CW. I joined the second race of Rinskys first season, I think I have only missed 1 GR4/GR3 race when my wheel was out for warranty repair. I almost started to enjoy the Supercar Series racing, it was a real challenge Sport tires. It really put truth to the slow is smooth and smooth is fast thing.. It really taught me that you can often go faster by braking a little early and letting the car roll thru the apex.

Have you considered looking into an SSD upgrade? Best Buy sells a 1TB Sandisk that is great! Installed it in a CUH1215B that falls behind when drawing at a distance. If you have ever played Kingdom Deliverance, when riding a horse at full speed it seems that everything on the landscape disappears because it can't be drawn fast enough. To my understanding, the PS4 Pro has 1 Gb of memory dedicated to graphics processing and it doesn't suffer this issue as much.

But back to my point; you could pick up the SSD for around $100 and it will improve not only your storage capacity but the graphic processing speed. It isn't much but it is enough to be noticeable at high frame rates in WRC 10, DiRT Rally 2.0, Assetto Corsa Competizione and GT Sport. The first test was to load Kingdom Come Deliverance and it loaded maybe 1 or 2 seconds quicker in the menu and managed to draw objects at a distance for longer than the HDD could.

Thank you. If I hadn't made Pole and you would have, we would have tied for Gr. 3. I don't think its a crappy way to win if you would have passed me, it would be comparable to an equipment or electronic malfunction in a car on track. In WEC and IMSA, they are always talking about the drivers doing a "CTRL-ALT-DEL" procedure to reset a cars electronics after a stall or spin. That's how I see it so you passing me would have been completely valid in my opinion.

I do agree however, that the wheel to wheel is where it's at. Coming out behind you exiting the pits was and is one of my favorite stints ever. We were nose to tail for 5 or more laps before the corkscrew move. Every place I could think to attack, I did. When you turned in to T11 and I was sitting on the apex, I felt I had the line and speed but conceding the position seemed the better option instead of inputting throttle and risking an accident. Later when I took the outside of T11 and you took the apex, I went wide to give you all the space but you knew that and floored it through the apex. I think I managed to get a nose in on you about three of four times but any time we made contact, I really tried to lift and back off the speed to avoid a spin.

Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks in North America. Once the muscle memory is set to the braking points and throttle inputs, the rest is literally turning the wheel to apex and away from apex as smoothly as possible and with the least amount of angle needed. In the case of T3, T4 and T5, getting the car to turn is a matter of proper gear and use of throttle. Getting the car slowed down in time is key but those three turns leading to the one going up the hill is where time is really made or lost. It seemed I had the fastest Sector 1 all race because I kept getting purple time banners but by the end of the lap, the advantage was gone.

@Racer283 I might be interested in joining tonight if there are any spots open. Checking out the COTW link now.

I might be a little late tonight but usually @Vic Reign93 runs the room. I would reach out to him and get his PSN. Typically we have plenty of room for people to join it just depends on the car. I know last week we almost had a full room but that was dependent on the car we were testing.

With the tire wear so high it was really noticeable how much tire wear affects braking.
