*I don't have photoshop so if someone numbers the turns I will throw up a new map.*

Sparklefresh - great call on the "little fun" time trial during the week off. It's very close to this exact combo. 👍 I can't wait to get home and give it a try.

Call me crazy, but I'm really enjoying this combo. Maybe I won't enjoy it so much once the aliens start in on it, but for now it's fun. I just stole the top spot from zissou with a 1:38.862.

OK I will be first to call you crazy. (just kidding) I was really liking Eifel. This track is not anywhere near as fun.

Actually...running a course in reverse is not a bad way to learn it. I did a go-kart enduro and mid way through the race they flipped direction. I was a little worried, but I picked it up very quickly. They say that when you are going to a new track you should walk it forwards AND backwards. It's good to see where you want to be (stand at a corner exit and look through the corner to the entry), not just where you are going.

So, if I start providing some notes like I did with Toscana last night, will they change the track on us the next morning?

I am awful at this track and car combo. That first "S" turn kills me i lose about 1.5 seconds there then can keep up after that 1 turn. any pointers? I feel asthough i have a good breaking point I just donw know the best angle.

The only other time I ever felt this disconnected from a car was when doing the top gear test with the Lotus. I have absolutely no idea what the car is going to do under braking, I just point it and hope for the best and sometimes that works...

Take your time with this car and track, the more patient you are, the quicker you will be able to get out of the corner and onto the gas. Slow is fast when your driving a brick with concrete tires.

The biggest issue with this track is the very first turn and maintaining angles on the roundabouts. I've been able to hold a decent spot on this track but rome is killing me. :<

Im the other way around around. I think rome is easy. Im in 8th NE and i know i can make up half a second. I just hate That gt-r car on medrid. That first turn is evil!

Man I'm happy for you lol. I just can't figure out how to solve the same two corners on each track and I know I can be fast I just need to figure out what mistake I make.

Following the tenth place ghost in the mid-west, first set of turns, he brakes a whole bunch in the straight a works himself over to the wall. He grazes the wall enough to point the front of the car through the chicane. On the exit of the chicane he taps on the left side to straighten the car out. This helps the exit to the straight before the carousel.

10th place ghost? how about you watch 1st place ghost.

( I might have bumped the wall by mistake on my best lap, not sure  )

All I can say is, wow, like driving on ice...

haha, I honestly thought the exact same thing. I was getting frustrated with the general lack of grip but after a few laps, I told myself, "this is like snow drifting my parents subaru legacy on the streets of my hometown!" Change of mindset and then I was able to put some laps down!

A good rule of thumb: chase the tenth, but study the first.

Sooo, what kinds of techniques are people using to maintain speed around the bends on this damn track? I mean what kinds of markers for reference are you guys using, because if I don't overshoot a bend and have to brake, I brake too much and miss the apex. There's also the problem for me where I'll hit the apex perfectly and still be at a retarded angle for exit because I cut too close to the inside. Man, I thought I did a good job getting to 1:40, then I see the majority of east coast has already dropped to a 1:39 :/

it feels slow going around those long big turns but it's important to keep traction here.

Stay in second for that first round about and note the optimal speed to hold.

It feels slow holding a steady speed through the longer turns but it's the only way to go.

It's also important to brake a littler earlier with the R34 than you usually would. Again, feels slow but it's the right way to go.

You know!? xD

Would you say it's more important to maintain a certain speed or maintain the angle for exit? Because sometimes when I'm struggling I find myself unable to do both. If I'm really pushing to keep up with the first place ghost for instance, by mimicking speed and drive line, I always find myself screwing up one or the other. I know it's an issue with just getting comfortable with the car but I think it's one of my biggest problem areas.

Ahh, therein lies the art of driving fast. It's all about having both of those factors going in your lap.

Mentally there are things you can do to help you get there. Like chasing slower ghosts, not just the top one. Taking breaks at regular intervals and restarting the track to get a refresh. Watching replays again. Also, if you find your self over driving the car it always helps to take the time to do a few slow laps where you go around the track at pedestrian speeds to get a new perspective on what your markers are and help burn the shape of the track in your head.

Try everything and anything you can, it works wonders!

This is starting to sound like a star in a reasonably priced car; if you look slow it's really fast. Coming from a helmet helps the reference ;)

I don't get it - WALL BOUNCING!

I was on a very hot lap, and cooked it just a little much going into the final corner. I bounced off the wall and shot ahead past my ghost. I immediately stopped the lap because I didn't want to become the poster child for yet another course change, or something stupid like that.

But seriously, what the hell. If you so much as touch certain inconsequential walls, you get a red lap, but you freaking bounce off the back wall of a hairpin leading to the longest straight on the track and nothing...

If there were actual cash prizes on the line, I might have gone for it - why not. Someone on the bubble will probably go for it - what do they have to lose? I can settle for my previous 1:38.7, but that lap would have been about a 1:38.5 after the bounce...
