Russian Invasion of Ukraine

So the nazis gathered a bunch of civilians in the theatre several days prior to detonating a bomb there, and told the population about their plans so that they could share it on Twitter long before the plan was executed? And nobody thought about talking to a journalist?

To be honest, this tweet makes it seem more likely to be a Russian false flag operation, first drop a tweet that predicts what will happen and then make it so. Is there any evidence to support what the tweet claims?
So a false, false flag operation? Possible but seems a little far fetched. Then again everything about this is far fetched.

Trying to stop overthrow
So, sounds like the sanctions may be starting to achieve part of their goal if he’s afraid of the oligarchs wanting him out?

We are European country with European lifestyle turned into N.Korea in one month. Sure, he afraid of overthrow. IDK, why West doesn't want to set price tag at Putin and give amnesty to those who will bring his head to Hague.

Long and short answer? World War III.

Bearing in mind that those who would be tasked with executing Armageddon would certainly die themselves, so it may be a preferable option for the Russian government and military top brass to oust Putin instead. At least let's bloody hope so.

As for Putin's latest bizarre rant, how he can dare to call anyone scum is beyond me, let alone how disgustingly hypocritical it all is. So it's OK to be a kleptocrat and build huge palaces for yourself, so long as they are in Russia? Meanwhile, Putin is stabbing every oligarch who ever supported him in the back. The question is, when Putin is finished tanking the Russian economy, who will pull his body out from under the rouble?

I think Blitz said it perfectly, but I caught a headline today that Putin just replaced a huge amount of his staff. Doesn't sound like the West has to do anything on that front.

The number was 1,000 but that's scary one can easily believe 1,000 people can be "replaced" in a place like Russia.

Initially caught the headline through Reddit, but finding it again, I will say it is fair to be skeptical. Inside Edition strikes me more for celebrity gossip, & is sharing the story based on what a Daily Beast editor has heard.
Vladimir Putin appeared on Russian state TV today to denounce Russians who opposed his war with Ukraine as “scum” and “traitors.”

But behind the scenes, the dictator is increasingly paranoid and fears that someone in his inner circle will poison him, a new report says.

Daily Beast contributing editor Craig Copetas says he’s been told that Putin has people tasting his food before he eats it and that last month, he replaced his entire personal staff of 1,000 people.

“Laundresses, secretaries, cooks — to a whole new group of people. The assessment from the intelligence community is that he's scared,” Copetas said.

Copetas says that the preferred method of assassination in Russia is poison.

Putin should know — it's believed his agents killed outspoken critic Alexander Litvinenko by spiking a pot of tea with radioactive poison in 2006.

And in 2018, authorities say Putin’s henchmen sprayed deadly poison on the front door of former spy Sergei Skripal. He and his daughter narrowly escaped death.

Putin also allegedly ordered the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He survived, but is now languishing in a Russian jail.

Time for the US to rethink its rules on who can be President.
I've long considered the fact that many immigrants to American seem to understand and appreciate what it means to be American better than most self-described "patriots" who were born here, and also many of us who may have good intentions but are still taking our privileges for granted. Many of those immigrants are here precisely because of conflicts in their homelands and have finally found relative peace and quiet where they can work and be comfortable.

Edit: Remember when Trump replaced inter-administration career positions that were typically very stable and independent of politics? Pepperidge Farm remembers. We're witnessing even more confirmation that Trump did various dictator-like things and we dodged a bullet. In my opinion it's further evidence that some of those decisions were guided by the Kremlin, and that the investigations need to continue toward genuine punishment.

We talking about regime based on corruption. Its always about risk/reward.
I am not saying it isn't an idea that has been floating, I'm saying that I don't think there is a group that could be successful in taking down Putin without causing backlash. I don't even think Shin Bet would try this.

Rumours of USA and Turkiye sending kamikaze drones and loitering ammo. Usa seems to be sending switchblades while rumours are surfacing of Turkey sending either stm kargu or the stm alpagu. Stm alpagu has not entered service yet for the Turkish armed forces but I doubt they would send a product that as not entered service in their own army.

If true this is going to be more deadly for the Russians.

Russians are running out of time already as the Ukrainians counter attacks are becoming more successful their offensives have stalled.

Israel has ruled out sending any weapons.

Now I want to watch Red Heat again. It's not a good movie, sure, but holy crap Gina Gershon.
I rewatched it just the other day. James Belushi is so bad in it (just short of shouting every one of his lines, ruining the delivery one-liners that are gift-wrapped for him to say, coming off as an asshole in every scene he's in, completely unconvincing in every action scene), even by James Belushi standards, that I would say it's pretty much unwatchable. You can even see the points in the film where Arnold just kind of gives up trying to cover Belushi's performance; which is as alien a concept to me as Tom Cruise doing so.

That Belushi was getting leading roles for another decade is one of Hollywood's greatest mysteries.

It's a reflection of just how revered his brother John was and still is.
